I am a 16 year old guy that has always liked pretty much all genres of music besides the rap i've heard. This album is not a 5 star album, because even though it is good, there are some things that they could work on. I dont have any other roots albums but i just bought this because i wanted something different. This CD has great hooks, great basslines (they actually change notes througout the song which is great), and way better lyrics than ALL of the mainstream rap out there considering cash, "hoes", and killing is left out of the lyrics. This is something i can say that I enjoy listening to even as a long time boycotter of rap music. Now i will say that the word "nigger" is quite overused...but thats all rap music..so i cant really complain. Thank you Roots for making some great Hip hop that anyone can enjoy.

Obviuosly I got this album like 8 years after it was released but I can't live without writing about this classic Roots Project. I've seen The Roots play live and it was an experience I'll never forget. However, this album took a while to grow on me. After one night of heavy concentration and patients it was evident that this album is amazing and so are the roots. The thing that I love about this album and the roots is that they are so different compared to the other hip hop acts. Not only are they well spoken; not concerned about cars, jewelery, and guns, they play live instruments with rarely any sampling involved. My favorite tracks on the cd are "Mellow My Man", which is just fly, "Datskat", "Lazy Afternnon" all 3 verses are the same but it's an interesting concept, "Do YOu Want More" the titled track, " What Goes on Pt. 7", Silent Treatment". I also enjoy listening to "? vs. Rahzel". THough the Roots band members have changed such as Malik B. departing, ?uestlove, Black Thought, Dj Scratch, Hub are a forced to be reckened with. The thing that I like about this cd is that it is very creative, innovative, nd jazz originated. I just laugh when my my friends ask me whos's in my cd player at the time and when I say the Roots they give me a weird look. I guess they're just brainwashed with this stupid 50 Cent and Cash Money Millionaire madness. They really missing out.

i was a skeptic roots fan at first. this changed very soon after hearing "Things Fall Apart." After TFA i got my hands on "Illadelph Halflife". Then "Do You Want More?!!!?!". Then last but not least "Organix." "Do you..."is my favorite, The rapping by the roots is great and the band is amongst the best...i think each Roots album has a different feel, this feel is my favorite but the others are NOT to be overlooked by anymeans. This album is relaxed and soothing but not as laid back as "Illadelph". But the band's songs are not as hip hop geared as "TFA"..."Do you" almost sounds like a jazz album. My recomendation is get The Roots albums in this order. (TFA, Do You, Illadelph, Organix). For more in depth reviews on the other albums by me check their review sections.NOTE:I have not heard any of Phrenology and therefore did not include it in my review, this by no means means you should conclude it's not worth getting...try it out and see what u think.

Having long since been highly regarded for not only their exceptional 'Live' performances, as well as Old-School Hip-Hop. The Roots have cultivated a hard-core following, through their incorporation, of musical influences such as 'Jazz' & 'Soul', into their musical template....that have produced a distinctive style of their own.....With second album "Do you Want More??!!", the band have taken a 'Live' approach to this album, with a rawer feel to it than their subsequent albums....which provides the band with much room to bring Songs together wonderfully, as well a them appearing to be having a great time just jamming. Not that the songs pack any less punch than their more conventional albums....far from it in fact!!, because of the rawer more instinctual approach, the majority of songs rock hard, and speak for themselves...in fact to emphasis this point, track 10 "What Goes on Pt7", starts with some human beat boxing, cascades into soul/funk...and half way through the track, cuts into a impromptu 'Sound check'....which then perfectly leads into track 11 "Essaywhuman?!!??!!", which is a glorious Jazz / Hip-Hop fusion that epitomises the most influential qualities of 'The Roots'......and yet another sublime effort for Philly's most regarded Hip-Hop Band.

The lyrics arent as intense as those in "Illedelf Halflife", but for real hiphop heads and real lovers of jazzy music. . .then this is the one. The live sound of this album is really a beautiful thing; you hear the drum set and the bass guitar like you were there watching them live. Best of all, Blackthought and Malik represent perfectly. . .this CD is beutiful.

When visiting the University of Wisconsin, Madison, a friend of mine came across this CD laying on the street. He picked it up, put it in his CD player, and proceded to have one of the best listening experiences of his life. This album is off the hook. Fly, rad, chill, whatever the kids are saying these days... or should it be dayz? The lyrics are insteresing and thought provoking, and the style is smooth, and relaxing. Real instruments, not synthesizers, provide the mellow background beats that accompany the beautiful vocals. Do You Want More?!!!?! features musicians and rappers whose stylings complement one another and have incredible chemistry. It is rare to find an album that flows so well from track to track. My favorite song by the Roots is Distortion to Static, but every other song on this CD is excellent. Although Phrenology and Come Alive are more popular, this is my favorite Roots Album. (Not to say that the others aren't good.) Ideally you should listen to this album driving down the highway with your windows down in a warm, sunny day. Pick this one up, its "essential."

These guys have brought something new and have done it with panache -- that deserves 5 stars. One of the all-time great head-nod albums. Every Roots album has its virtues, but the others are more serious and/or more confrontational. This is the one with that special something when the stars just lined up. This is an album you just bounce to, with lyrics you won't tire of, and an assortment of gripping production and vocal styles including skatting and accapella, bagpipes and acoustic upright bass on some tracks. Inoffensive, unpretentious, this album is about the art of hip hop performance. It's like a conversation wit' yo man and you just keep nodding your head because goddamit you feel that way too.
