4.0 out of 5 stars Buyer Beware
I'm hoping that there aren't any Kate Bush fans out there in cyberspace who don't own a copy of The Dreaming. An impossible sacrilege.

The Dreaming scares me. I don't mean "scares me" as in "Marilyn Manson scares me." It's 2 in the morning and the house is dead quiet, then I'm startled by the sound of someone turning the knob on the front door. Like The Dreaming,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Dream on...
Steady on, people. The Dreaming is a good album, and Kate Bush's necessary first step away from the traditional piano-and-voice style which had characterized her first three albums. But although it is good... how can I put this? It's just not THAT good. Her usual flair for melody almost disappears down a dark alleyway of drum machines and Rolf Harris, and whilst the...

5.0 out of 5 stars AN UNDERRATED, SECRET CLASSIC, April 4 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dreaming (Audio CD)
This is not just perhaps Kate Bush's best album, but certainly one of the best albums ever made. It combines story-telling in weaving, teasing, dark lyrics with notes that are just one step off. It is also one of those rare albums where every track makes you want to sing loudly as you visualize the lyrics.

P.S. Why no samples?

5.0 out of 5 stars Her best work. Period., Feb 9 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Dreaming (Audio CD)
Kate is one of the most talented musicians on this earth. The Dreaming was underrated when it was first released, but I think that has to do with the fact that it was way ahead of its time. This is a superb album, tracks like Sat in Your Lap, Suspended in Gaffa, Leave It Open, Night of The Swallow, Houdini, and Get Out of My House proving this point. Buy it and be convinced.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly unique, Sep 21 1998

Difficult, scary, charming, bizarre and enchanting. There has never been another album like it, and there probably never will be. With sounds so complex and rich, this is an album that has to slowly grow on you. It's sat in my collection for years between listens, and only after going back to it time and again have I come to understand its genius. Kate truly outdid herself here, creating an unusual, timeless classic that will continue to confuse and delight fans of uncommon music for years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kate Bush in Dark, Sep 4 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Dreaming (Audio CD)
This album is probably the darkest of all made by Kate Bush, but also is the album that deffinately establish her as one of the most creative artists of our time and demostrates that she is more than just a great voice. Her lyrics evoke fantasy worlds, sometimes with a poisoning hermetism. But also here, she makes her first experimentation with technified music and celtic music. If you are a Kate Bush fan, this is a must-have Cd for you.
