A great compliation of an underrated band, Jan 17 2004
This review is from: Best Of B.T.O. (Remastered Hits) (Audio CD)
The Best Of B.T.O. (So Far) is a great retrospective of a band who wrote some of the best rock songs of the mid-70's but is primarily known for their three-chord classic "Takin' Care Of Business" and their catchy #1 single "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet." However, many of the other tracks here such as "Hey You", "Take It Like A Man", "Roll Down The Highway" and "Let It Ride", were great hard rock songs released at a time when mellow rock was still popular. But B.T.O. weren't just a hard rock band. The tracks "Blue Collar" and "Lookin' Out For #1" were mellower, jazzier songs with the former featuring some great jamming at the song's conclusion. Upon hearing these tracks, it's hard to believe that they're the same band who did "Takin' Care Of Business." Other great tracks here include the killer instrumental "Free Wheelin'" and "Gimme Your Money Please." A great compliation. Not Fragile is also a great album from these guys.

Concise and Fun, May 10 2004
This review is from: Best Of B.T.O. (Remastered Hits) (Audio CD)
Very good remastered sound, and the final three tracks, including the terrific instrumental "Free Wheelin,'" weren't on the original. Sure, "Taking Care of Business" is played far too often on the radio (and in TV commercials, for that matter). "You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet," "Let It Ride" and "Hey You" are the other heavyweight hits from these heavyset rockers, and you've heard them many times as well. But "Blue Collar" and "Looking Out For #1" are two excellent mellow BTO tunes...Randy Bachman, just as he did in the Guess Who, displayed an ability to play with great finesse as well as fire. Throw in "Gimme Your Money Please" and "Roll On Down The Highway," both with high-powered Fred Turner vocals, and you have a winner. Highly recommended...you'll really enjoy the overplayed hits alongside the equally strong lesser-known stuff on this disc.
