Don't be fooled by the title!, Nov 9 2011

I had already learnt three of the exact transcriptions of these pieces from this CD (Bill Bailey, My Gal Sal and Hello My Baby), which were published in the book Dick Wellstood Jazz Piano Solos edited by Riccardo Scrivales. It was incredible to hear the pieces played by the master himself, I learned so much. Not only that, but he played and freshened old favorites like Take Me Out to the Ball Game, The Entertainer and Battle Hymn to the Republic, turning them into hot fast strides or blues.
Don't be fooled by the title, this CD isn't Ragtime, it's more stride than anything else being played in a way only Dick Wellstood can. It's great for easy listening and for the avid jazz musician looking for typical stride licks. I went through this CD in one sitting and wanting more!
