Made it look and sound easy,

He's music's version of Ernie Els, the great South African golfer. "The big easy" makes hitting a golf ball look like lawn bowling. Mr. Humperdinck sings in the same way. Effortless vocalization with a warm, naturally expressive voice. Great arrangements in the 60's English style,

Engelbert Humperdinck is without a doubt one of the best voices of the 20th century.Nobody sings a love song like he does. These oldies are definitely goodies and bring back a lot of lovely memories- romantic,The Last Waltz, wistful, The Way it Used to Be,a fine collection of songs that nobody does better than Engelbert!

Engelbert's best,

This is Engelbert at his peak. I love his emotional singing, the arrangements and the songs. The sound quality is SUPERB, the sound mix can a bit annoying at times - wide STEREO seperation but I guess that was the thing to do back then. Granted, AFTER THE LOVIN is not on here but in my book it's really only a 4 star song.If you get a chance to see Engelbert in concert, do so. He sounds great and does most of these songs in his shows. Now if he only had a full orchestra backing him as on these recordings......

Superb, despite lacking "After the Lovin'",

Every track on this disc is essential Engy, if only it had After The Lovin' it would be perfect (that song was released years after this compilation, so it isn't entirely the record label's fault.) If you like the man, go for this collection over the others! It has the best collection of his early hits. You probably won't find one that has ALL the great hits, you may have to buy two. (Or, get the Rhino Have A Nice Day disc with After the Lovin on it.)

Englebert-In A class by himself,

This CD is a must for any Englebert Fan. It is unfortunate that you cannot go to a record store and access Englebert's complete discography as you can with other famous singers. This is because most of his Parrot albums are out of Print and have not been reissued on CD. However the cuts from these albums that comprise his Greatest hits will live on forever. He is truly one of the great voices of the 20th Century.

I've been an Engelbert Fan for years! "THE WAY IT USED TO BE" became a favorite of mine when it was first released and has remained a special favorite for all these years. I said back then he was the best! He's still around after over 30 years, doing tremendously fabulous wonderful concerts and new recordings! WHAT MORE CAN I SAY--ENGELBERT'S THE GREATEST!
