I bought this album for the first time (used for only a penny :P) And it is fantastic! Its just Pop magic! From the classic hits Baby One More Time, You Drive Me Crazy, Sometimes, Born To Make You Happy there are some other stand out tracks like Soda Pop, I WIll Be There, Deep in my Heart and I Will Still Love You. Pure pop music magic! This album set the stage for one of the greatest artist in pop music history! A must have for any pop fans, who not only love Britney Spears but want a little guilty pleasure!

Britney: The Debut of a Global Phenomenom,
By C. Eberlein (Boston, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Baby, One More Time (Audio CD)
Britney Spears debuted in 1998 with her deliciously bittersweet single "...Baby One More Time," which skyrocketed to the top of the charts and made her one of the biggest singing sensations in decades. Her debut album of the same title hit charts on January 12, 1999, and took the world by storm, selling (currently) somewhat near 26 million copies. There's no doubt why ...Baby One More Time became such a huge success. Being the first successful female in the teen pop market of the late '90s, Miss Spears was the epitome of the perfect girl-next-door. Her sexy Catholic schoolgirl outfit worn in her first video definitely helped her career, but it was her distinctive throaty vocals and temptuous pop songs that made her a global phenomenom, and the world's most famous female. Though not a consistent release (her Oops!...I Did It Again and In the Zone albums contain more hit-material) ...Baby One More Time is still a must-buy for any pop music listener.

...Baby One More Time rocks!,

Britney Spears debuted onto the pop charts in 1998 with her breakout hit "...Baby One More Time," a No. 1 chart-breaking hit and Grammy nominee. Her first album of the same name is gorgeous pop fun and came out when I was in 8th grade in January 1999. ...Baby One More Time should've won Album of the Year at the Grammys and Miss Spears should've won Best New Artist. Favorite hits are "...Baby One More Time," "Drive Me Crazy," "Sometimes," "Born to Make You Happy," "From the Bottom of My Broken Heart," "I Will Be There," and, well, every song excluding track "Email My Heart." This album is one of the most famous and best-selling of the modern era and you've got to admit, Britney Spears is the bomb!

No, bubblegum pop is not my thing, I am sorry. It is clear that Britney's publicity has not actually come from her talant but from her sexy (non existent) clothing. It is hard to believe that people could actually call this MUSIC. The lyrics are unoriginal, her voice has nothing to it that I would consider amazing, and the album altogether is just cheezy. Buy this only if you enjoy listening to this ..... Though I would highly recommend REAL music like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Elvis Costello.

Well, I do give her credit for trying as hard as she did to "get where she is today" but I honestly don't see much in her as a performer, and this was an album she did when her voice was actually almost good. The Swedish production is what 'saves' it, but the material...and Britney...is just rather...well..obnoxious and unsatisfactory. It did have it's memorable songs. baby One More Time--The first song is a good solid, career-boosting pop song that actually can be fun to listen to, but quickly wears out it's appeal...but then is enjoyable again after you stop listening for a while. You Drive Me Crazy--I actually liked this song...but the single version, the Stop remix was far better. Soda Pop--I don't get why people don't like this. It's probably the best song on the album. Quite fun and bouncy and kind of reggae-ish, but more dancehall-like. I love this song!!;-) Born To Make You Happy--Another of the mroe lastingly good and memorable songs. I Will Be There--Sounds a little like Natalie Imbruglia's Torn in certain parts...a genuinely good song. The Beat Goes On--This actually was a good song. More bouncy and fun than many of the others. The other songs...well...let's just say they're like artificial sweetener gone wrong...

Britney: 30 Mill. More Times,

The 97-99 stage of music seemed unstop-able with pop music bands like The Spice Girls, The Backstreet Boys, & NSYNC. But, one young girl by the name of Britney Spears unleashed one of the most popular albums of our time.1.) ...Baby One More Time - 1st Single 2.) (You Drive Me) Crazy 3.) Sometimes - 2nd Single 4.) Soda Pop 5.) Born To Make You Happy - 4th Single (UK) 6.) From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart - 4th Single (US) 7.) I Will Be There 8.) I Will Still Love You (Duet With Don Phillip) 9.) Thinkin' About You 10.) E-Mail My Heart 11.) The Beat Goes On B-Sides (You Drive Me) Crazy (The Stop! Remix) - 3rd Single Deep In My Heart - Ok Song. Its upbeat and poppy. I'll Never Stop Loving You - Ballad. Ok Song. Autumn Goodbye - Still pop. Not the best. I'm So Curious - Still pop. Teen pop. I'm glad Britney grew up. This was a hit album and still is, Britney has gotten older and its so fun to listen to these old songs. 'BOMT' sold over 30 mill. albums worldwide

Pop's piece of trash five years on,

This review is from: Baby, One More Time (Audio CD)
In January of 1999, the world was introduced to a 17 year old naughty teenybopper schoolgirl named Britney Spears whom released her debut torture chamber of an album Baby One More Time. She was a former Mouseketeer(along with Justin Stinkercake and Christina Gagulera) whom was turned down by every label until Jive(the home of R&B acts like R. Kelly, Billy Ocean and Hi-Five and rap artists like Fu-Schnickens, DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince and A Tribe Called Quest) reluctantly signed her. The BOMT album was an immediate success staying at #1 for 6 weeks and sold over 13 million in the US(her subsequent albums have done less successful) and was rightfully panned by critics as cheesy and mediocre pop music. Songs like the title cut have been done before(look to Tiffany, Debby Boone, Debbie Gibson, I can go down the list). Songs like the title cut, Sometimes and You Drive Me Crazy make me want to run for the stereo and crank Genesis' Three Sides Live because this girl can't sing at all, why does she mime at every show, hmmmmm? I have heard this CD seeing that my niece is a huge Britney fan. Like I said, BOMT sold 13 million copies and made her the object of young girls to look up to and teenage boys and old men to lust after. Britney since this album's released has become a walking contradiction to what she was like when she started. She doesn't write her own songs. She is a robot. Avoid!

The beginning of an era,
By Lauren (Duluth, GA USA) - See all my reviews

Hey, I didn't say it was a good era.The CD ". . . Baby One More Time" garners two stars simply for being the best of Britney's short 'n' crappy catalogue. It's the best because it's pretty much the only one that doesn't make you feel like a dirty old man while you're listening. Back when this CD was released, Britney was still a somewhat innocent teenager, and her music was kind of fun to listen to (albeit not for a long time, and certainly it wasn't taken seriously). Now, it's all electronics and oversexed lyrics, and the melodies aren't even as fun as the ones on the first album. In short, if your ten-year-old daughter wants to buy this CD, it's suitable even if the later ones aren't. However, if you're a person over, say, thirteen and you take music seriously? Save your money. Go buy something by Hole if you want true female power.

Britney's debut rocks,

Pop superstar Britney Spears broke out into the music business in 1998 when her first hit, the Grammy-nominated title track from her Grammy-nominated debut ...Baby One More Time, hit the top 40 charts at No. 1. It is no doubt that her vocals are the best here; nobody complained until Oops!...I Did It Again started de-sizzlin' after a record-breaking number of weeks about her chops because they were overall pretty good for a 15 y/o. Spears is my favorite living entertainer because she's unique. I love her voice despite what people say. This album no doubt is one of the best pop music releases in music history, and should've won a Grammy. "...Baby One More Time" (which sizzled up radio in '98) is one of the most recognizable songs of the modern era, and is definitely a favorite of many. ...Baby One More Time rocks...this should be an ESSENTIAL recording.
