5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing album!
I've only just started to like these guys. All my life I have heard "Livin' on a prayer" and when I got to this age I just had to get the album. Good choice. It's brilliant! They're my best band of the 80s.

Let it rock: It's a nice opener for you. It just shows you that better songs are coming. It takes about the first minute of the song to hear the first...

3.0 out of 5 stars Its alright but......
Slippery When Wet is an alright album but its way to over produced and its too commercial. Yes I realize Bon Jovi, so their a hair band so that means every thing they make will be commercial but come on. Bon Jovi is not hard rock, not a single hair band is hard rock, ok they were about as hard rock as Journey was. But dont get me wrong some of them were good and Bon jovi...

I've only just started to like these guys. All my life I have heard "Livin' on a prayer" and when I got to this age I just had to get the album. Good choice. It's brilliant! They're my best band of the 80s.

Let it rock: It's a nice opener for you. It just shows you that better songs are coming. It takes about the first minute of the song to hear the first vocal. 5/5

You give love a bad name: I love this one! The guitar playing is amazing andf I love the vocals. Unbeatable chorus. 5/5

Livin' on a prayer: Arguably my favourite, but I can't decide between this and "You give love...". Extremely catchy. Everyone I know loves this. 5/5

Social desease: It starts off very well, but it has a bad chorus. Probably my weakest song. 4/5

Wanted dead or alive: One of their most famous songs. It sounds scary at the start, but it gets lighter. Nice acoustic playing to a slow-paced song. 4/5

Raise your hands: A great song which has been forgotten. The chorus has great shouting. 5/5

Without love: I like Jon's singing on this one. A nice slow calm song, but it can be fun to sing. Great chorus. 5/5

I'd die for you: You think this is goanna be a fast, fun song, but it's quite touching. Nice keyboard playing and great lyrics. I love the backing voclas. It contains a chorus you need to sing. 5/5

Never say goodbye: Probably the slowest song on the album. Calm guitar playing, but it can be a bit boring. 4/5

Wild in the streets: It sounds a bit different, but it's a good song to end the album. It's fun and fast. Good backing vocals and a shouting chorus. 5/5

I only own three Bon Jovi albums, and if I get anymore this would probably still be my favourite.

But dont get me wrong some of them were good and Bon jovi is one of the few.

Slippery When Wet is by far Bon Jovis best album 'Livin On A prayer' is a great love song, 'Lat It Rock' is a pretty decent rock song, 'You Give Love A Bad Name' is also a pretty decent rock song, and 'Raise Your Hands' is alright. Now 'Wanted Dead Or Alive' is one of the greatest songs ever recorded, writen and produced. The 12 string by Rhichie Sambora is killer and Jon Bon Jovi dont sound bad himself.

This is a good album but like I said I've heard better but by Bon Jovi it dont get better then this, and dont be fooled by other reviewers Bon Jovi is not the best herd rock band since Led Zeppelin, I mean come on people lets use some since!!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Vo5 charged hair metal, Mar 24 2004

Theres no denying Jon Bon Jovi has an incredible vocal range and Richie Sambora, unlike many 80's guitarists can really wail when he wants to. The first half of this album fares much better then the second half. Theres arena rock gems like "Let it Rock", "You give love a bad name" and "Livin on a Prayer". "Wanted:Dead or Alive" is worth listening to if simply to hear Sambora's sick guitar intro. Unfortunately the second half of the album collapses under its own hair gel. Theres a couple more rockers but mostly ballads so sappy they make Sammy Hagar look like a die hard cynic. IT will make you grateful Kurt Cobain came along and destroyed this kind of spandex and Vo5 charged poodle hair metal. In any case the album does make you wonder how much you got to fork over for those girls in the album jacket to wash youre car.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let It Rock!, Feb 9 2004
This review is from: Slippery When Wet (Audio CD)
Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet is one of the most famous rock albums in the world. The opening track already is very good. "Let It Rock" blows your mind with good guitar riffs! Same kind of tracks are "Raise Your Hands" and "Wild in the Streets". The album contains classic Bon Jovi tracks "You Give Love a Bad Name", "Livin' on a Prayer", and of course, "Wanted Dead Or Alive", a classic of the classics which is a western song. There's also "Social Disease" which starts with women enjoying...probably the music. "Without Love" is a good track for people like me and for all people who like BJ. "I'd Die for You" and first of all "Never Say Goodbye" are very beautiful ballads. Especially "Never Say Goodbye" made me want to buy this album. If you like rock'n'roll, you have to buy this album! This is the best hard rock since Led Zeppelin!

5.0 out of 5 stars classic, Jan 31 2004

I have seen Garth Brooks in concert (it was awsome).I have been to see aerosmith, metallica, rolling stones,Dave mathews band and lots of other great bands in concert and liked them all,but the best show i have been to is BON JOVI.The sound and the energy is second to none and thats how i feel about Slippery When Wet.This album has everything a great album should. You want numbers? Almost 25 million copies sold worldwide shows that this album did not just relate to the times (80s),it related to everyday people around the world. The songwriting is great and the songs still hold up.This review is more for Bon Jovi critics who insist on telling us why we shouldn`t like Bon Jovi and should listen to bands like pearl jam(a good band)and others who are not so upbeat.Fan or no fan this album is a clissic.

4.0 out of 5 stars This is a good album - not the Holy Grail.... but VERY good, Dec 4 2003

(Ok Ok, it is really a 5 star situation as far as I'm concerned, but I wanted to leave room for New Jersey and Keep the Faith)

Yes, this is a "classic." Though not the musical muscle flex of their later works (you MUST go endure my ranting review of the Blaze of Glory Album if you haven't already), Slippery When Wet not only 1) generated the mass hits that for many people are the only Bon Jovi songs they know, 2)saved Bon Jovi's career and ALLOWED them to make better albums later on, 3) defined an era, and 4) unified a "band sound" for them, but it was the embryo of what would become the most profound emotional journey as the band marched onward to later albums. This is an essential album both for the band to have made, and for anyone's collection. I don't care how many copies it sells (though please go by another copy so we can see the thing push another platinum level), it's not as good as Jersey, Blaze of Glory (the Holy Grail), or Faith, ... but it IS good, and when in the right mood, it can still serve emotional functions even after having been listened to for a decade and a half. If you don't have it, would you please just go get it? Enough said about Slippery, as the music speaks for itself.
