This guy is a musical genious! Vulgur, carefree, and funny! Do not let your children listen to this as the themes are very mature. One of his best for sure!

The Slim Shady LP is Eminem's first album. It was released quite a few years ago and features the hit single, "My name is...... Slim Shady". Here's a rating of the tracks on this album: 1 - Public Service Announcement - N/A Just a regular PSA, nothing special here. 2 - My Name Is - 8/10 This is quite a good song to open the album. It's basically Eminem introducing himself and talking about things he likes to do. 3 - Guilty Conscience - 6/10 In this song, there are people who want to do something bad, but just before they do it, their conscience kicks in. Eminem plays the devil, and Dr Dre plays the angel. There's nothing that intersting about it though. 4 - Brain Damage - 8/10 This song is quite good. It's about Eminem when he was little, and when he used to get beaten up at school. He gets brain damage and then gets revenge. 5 - Paul - N/A Paul Rosenberg - Eminem's manager, calls him to talk about the album. 6 - If I Had - 6/10 Eminem tells listeners how he is upset with the way is life is and what he would rather have. He also mentions what he would do if he had $1000000, and a magic wand. 7 - '97 Bonnie & Clyde - 5/10 Some listeners may find this song disturbing. Eminem and his little daughter Hailie, go in the car to drop his wife in the sea to "see how far she can float". 8 - Zoe - N/A This is quite amusing. A friend of Zoe's plays Eminem in her car, and Zoe thinks it's disgusting, so she calls in and gives a piece of her mind. 9 - Role Model - 11/10 This song is brilliant - the best on the album. Eminem talks about a few things that he does and it's really funny. There is a good beat, with an exellent guitar loop and amusing sound effects. 10 - Lounge - N/A This is a very strange skit - it's some men singing about a girl sitting in the corner crying because they brought her to their world - strange! 11 - My Fault - 5/10 The chorus of this is the same as the song in "Lounge". It's about Eminem saying sorry for some of the things he's done. 12 - Ken Kaniff - N/A A nother strange, disturbing skit. A gay man calls Eminem on the phone to ask him if he wants to share a hotel room. You probably won't listen to this track very often. 13 - Come on Everybody - 5/10 To be honest, I can't see any meaning to this song at all. It's just a sort of, dance/hip hop song featuring "Track 13 Girl" Dina Rae. 14 - Rock Bottom - 8/10 Not too bad. This is Eminem talking about how his life was completely meaningless, and he had nothing. 15 - Just Don't Give - 10/10 A brilliant song! My second favourite. There's some guy who introduces the song and talks through it, like a sports announcer. It's quite bizzare, but I think it's good. The backing music is also quite odd. It sounds like a spoon being rubbed against a bowl repeatedly, you have to hear it to understand. Anyway, 16 - Soap - N/A It sounds like an extract from some romance film. I'm not sure how it ties into the album though. 17 - As the world turns - 8/10 Another random song that doesn't seem to mean much, but it's alright. It's basically Eminem talking about things that he has to face up to every day. 18 - I'm Shady - 1/10 I don't like this song at all. Some people may find it disturbing. In the chorus Eminem talks about all the drugs that he does and it's not edited very well. It's like "shroomushs", which is easily made out, and there are other drug references to which are hardly edited at all. 19 - Bad Meets Evil - 9/10 This is quite a good song. It features Marky Bass - another rapper, and has a good tune to it. It's the sort of thing you'd hear in a western war movie. 20 - Still Don't Give - 7/10 This song is a verbal assault from Eminem to his critics and litterally, he says that he doesn't [care] what anyone thinks of him and he isn't going to change the way he is. Why even have Dre produce it?...It'd be better without!?,

Before the Slim Shady LP, a no-name emcee named Eminem was probably ripping the mic at the Lyricist Lounge or other underground hiphop spots...back when he was an ill lyricist hungry for attention by scaring you ... with raw punchlines and excellent verbal battling ability. Back when he was able to step into a rhyme cypher with Canibus, Mos Def, Last Emperor, and Chino XL and dominate... To a hiphop standpoint, by focusing on his lyrics and comparing with his earlier efforts, this CD is the beginning of his downfall... But with the variety of ideas it saves the CD. And by being so creative brings it up to 5 stars...Highlights of the CD: My Name Is (verbal part), Guilty Conscience (highly creative track), Brain Damage (clever storytelling), Bonnie & Clyde (very creative yet disturbing song), Role Model, As The World Turns, Bad Meets Evil (dope lyrics on this), and Still Don't Give A **** Some negative sides of the CD: My Name Is (chorus and music), My Fault (OK story but annoying harmony)... plus if he had a more dependable producer we'd hear better beats... Unfortunately, because he's not on a dependable label he's forced to rap to garbage beats (which is Dre's specialty, but this release are some of his better ones), he's forced to do exactly what the higher level employees he works with say. He's not able to make his own decisions and the contoversy that has become of him has forced him to listen to Dre and others and rap about that instead of making his own ideas... ARTIST - one that can use their imaginative ability to create something... But, none the less, an excellent debut CD by a good artist who's stuck with a bad label... Hopefully one day Slim will wake up and leave DRE in his footprints and join a true HIPHOP label 'RAWKUS' ... but the Slim Shady LP is no where near as horrific as the Marshall Mathers LP plus he's not the only white rapper out there today: Evidence (Dilated Peoples), The High and Mighty, Smut Peddlers, Everlast/Whitey Ford, El-P (Company Flow), and RA Rugged Man... I'm Out ... Mind Power!

i must admit, i fell in love with eminem after the first time i heard "my name is" on TRL. when i found out the real words to it, i liked it even more! he's one artist who truely isn't afraid to express what he feels, and what he knows everyone else feels. i don't think i know one person who can't relate to one song on the whole album! he says it as it is.....in plain, true english. after gettin his album, i realized how great an artist he really is. many wouldn't call what he does music, but even though most wouldn't want to admit it, he speaks the truth about life. although many try to shade themselves from the harsh reality of life, you have to realize that this is the way it is, and always will be, he just knows first hand. i LOVE this cd, and listen to is 24/7! his melodic tunes, give me a sense of reality. i love it!!! i give him MAJOR props for this album, and hope he gets true success w/this album!

This cd is just amazing!! Eminem at his best, you wont hear a better cd than this. Every song on this cd is just great. Most people have only really heard "my name is" from this cd yet there are so many songs on this cd that i find equal, or better than my name is. Rock Bottom, Guilty Conscience, 97 Bonnie and Cylde, Role Model, As the world turns.....this cd is just amazing no other way to explain it!

All of Eminem's cd's are sick but this is his best by far. All of these songs are very powerful. "The Way I Am" & "Stan" are some of the best but "Drug Ballad" & "Amittyville" are the best songs on this album. I hope people quit hating on eminem cause of his so called homophobic lyrics.
