5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful....
This album is like an ice cold glass of lemonade on a warm summer day, absolutely refreshing. There is not one song on this album that I did not like, which is very rare. Usually when you purchase an album, it will only consist of 4 good songs, or 5 tops. Not the case with this one! Every song is beautifully composed and orchestrated by Santana himself, and...

1.0 out of 5 stars This is pop-trash. Buy the old stuff.
This album finds a once great guitarist trying to find an audience with the wrong people. He wrongly aimed for the pop-trash, MTV, radio-play bulls**t. I believe that he may still be a great guitarist and might be able play excellent music, but this CD doesn't support that. If you want hardcore Santana: Santana 1, Abraxas, Santana 3, Caravanserai, and Love Devotion...

This album finds a once great guitarist trying to find an audience with the wrong people. He wrongly aimed for the pop-trash, MTV, radio-play bulls**t. I believe that he may still be a great guitarist and might be able play excellent music, but this CD doesn't support that. If you want hardcore Santana: Santana 1, Abraxas, Santana 3, Caravanserai, and Love Devotion Surrender (with virtuoso John McClaughlin) are highly recommended. But those who disagree with me can keep jerking-off to their Britney Spears s**t and never know what great music is.

Usually when you purchase an album, it will only consist of 4 good songs, or 5 tops. Not the case with this one! Every song is beautifully composed and orchestrated by Santana himself, and wonderfully sung by his guest artists. Supernatural is worth every penny, and now I see why it won Santana over 5 grammy awards. If you like Santana's music, I guarantee you'll love this album. I also recommend Shaman, by Santana.

4.0 out of 5 stars Supernatural, Jan 29 2004
By
This review is from: Supernatural (Audio CD)
Hearing "Smooth" for the first time i didn't knew that it is santana's track.when i heard it thought that he has gone so much commerical.but really "Supernatural" is not a bad album.Eventhough it is far from epic "Abraxas" and it brings a lot of modern r and b flavour, Santana created pleasent music for evenings with friends, for listening in car or for listening whenever you want to.some great guitar parts will even make the "Cheesiness" of Wyclef Jean's appearance go away.
if oyu like Santana and modern pop music then try this one.if all pop songs would sound like that i would be in sevent heaven

If you want classic Santana, this ain't it. Some of the reviews complain about that, but hey folks, time moves on! Teaming with well written and "Smooth" artists of the current rock scene, Carlos has crafted an eminently enjoyable CD. Yeah, a few lines may seem hokey, but this has the precision feel of an older Steely Dan album combined with a little latin taste (it is NOT Tito Puente kind of latin) and an array of talent. I like his old stuff, I like this too. You probably will as well!

4.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Comeback, But Not Great, Sep 20 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Supernatural (Audio CD)
SUPERNATURAL is an excellent comeback for Santana, but unfortunately, the appearance of numerous featured guests, plus a lack of consistently strong material, prevents this album from being an example of Santana at his best. Even his 80s albums had a voice consistent throughout each album, which this one lacks. The important Santana discs are the first three albums, ESSENTIAL SANTANA, the two BEST OFs, GREATEST HITS, or even BORBOLETTA, AMIGOS, MOONFLOWER, or FESTIVAL. If you're satisfied with a Top 40-oriented sound and style, however, SUPERNATURAL is a great choice.

3.0 out of 5 stars Santana is the man!, Sep 13 2003
By
This review is from: Supernatural (Audio CD)
I give this album and over all rating of 3 stars because it is good but it isnt that good, I mean its not one of Santanas best albums. But as always his guitar playing is over the top and would blow most any other guitar player out of the water! Sogns like 'Out Your Lights On' 'Smooth' and 'Maria Maria' earnd this record like 8 grammys and made it go all the way to #1 on the charts. All the songs here are good in their own right but some are not as good as they could have been like 'Do You Like The Way' and 'Wishing it Was' both are good songs but could have been better, I am not sure why but it feels like both songs are missing something. My personal favorite song on the album is either 'Love Of My Life' with Dave Matthews or 'The Calling' with none other then slowhand himself Eric Clapton, yes Eric Clapton two of the top 5 guitar players of all time on one song, and it sure will please. SO as I said before this isnt Santanas best album but it is a really good album by any standards!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Genius, Sep 1 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Supernatural (Audio CD)
Pure Genius. The greatest Rock/Pop album in 20 years.
The content on this CD could easily have made 4 No.1 albums.
Supernatural was a 'Classic Album' the moment it hit the shelves.
Off the top of my head, the only comparisons:- The Blues Brothers, Rumors, Tapestry, Machine Head, Abbey Road.
The song 'Smooth' could easily have been written by Lennon/McCartney it is so exciting.
Carlos played at Woodstock alongside the greatest Rock guitarist
ever, Jimi Hendrix.
On studio guitar, Santana is the closest thing to Jimi Hendrix
left on the planet.
Carlos makes Eric Clapton look Arthritic.
Unfortunately the only way forward from here is DOWN!
Their following album, SHAMAN had just 1 hit.
It is unlikely we will see another 'Supernatural' from anyone
for another 20 years.

3.0 out of 5 stars Some songs are way too long, Aug 27 2003

Okay yes this is a great album but some of the songs have really long guitar solos that all you can do is skip into the next song.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Santana CD, July 26 2003
By
Michael Romero "music lover" (Bridgewater, NJ United States) - See all my reviews

This CD can be divided into two parts, really. There is the more traditional Santana world music sound, and the artist duet sound. Both are good, however, fans who only know the CD from the mainstream single "Smooth" are definately missing out on a lot more musical depth that is present here. Of the songs that do not have the help of any outside artists, (De La) Yaleo best showcases Santana's salsa influences and world music sensibility. Most of the duets are quite good, especially Put Your Lights On with Everlast, which has a downbeat mood to match the lyrics of the song, Love of My Life with Dave Matthews, which sounds very much like a Dave Matthews Band song guest starring Carlos Santana on the guitar, and Corazon Espinado with Mana, a great rock en Español song. Overall, the entire CD is good, and worth owning.
