But I believe in fantasy if you just understood..."Wow. I first heard the music from this soundtrack when I downloaded a legendary Anime Music Video made for it's first track, Believe. The video was fantastic, but the song was what fueled it. Believe is an incredibly inspirational song about not giving up and believing in yourself, and I can't count how many times I've listened to it (the part at the end is just transcendant (you know, like when you're running so hard and so long that you don't even feel the pain anymore)). Later on I downloaded Music Videos to two of the other songs (Running Two and Running Two Remix). I enjoyed the videos and the music so much I decided that I had to own the soundtrack. From what I understand, only the first 7 tracks are actually from the movie. That's probably the only reason I could give this awesome soundtrack less than five stars. The first seven tracks are all great. Believe is awesome, the introduction is the music I used to listen to while getting ready for work every morning (the ultimate wake-up music), Running One gets the blood pumping, Running Two puts you into overdrive (and whenever I'm REALLY tired I hear the words echoing in my head "Never never never never letting go, never giving up, never saying no. Just go go never stop and never think, just do do do do the right thing"!), Running Three is the big finale, and Casino is a great drum piece sure to keep you moving. The other tracks are kind of hit and miss. Many of the remixes lack the polish of the music from the movie (and one even features a spine-rippling scream and breaking glass at it's start). I did enjoy the Supermarket Remix, the Running Two Remix, and the last track, Rock Me. Overall I consider this to be an essential purchase if you like German Techno, Techno in General, or this movie's music. It's worth buying for the first 7 tracks for sure. The rest is just extras.

Wow, this is definitely one of my favorite albums. All I want in my music, in most cases, is a catchy beat to tap my feet to. This music delivers in this area like no other. The music is infectious and captivating, just like the movie itself.

A Fine Companion to a Fine Film,

Now and again, a film comes along with a truly astounding soundtrack--one that is more than a pro forma companion release (well, at least no Disneyesque cereal-box trophies here). In the German film "Lola Rennt" (Run, Lola, Run), the music truly supports the character development and action. The most recent film I recall with such a compelling, stand-alone soundtrack is "Something Wild", the mid-1980s masterpiece starring Melanie Griffith and Jeff Daniels. Many who see or have seen Franka Potente's compelling portrayal of a young woman with just 20 minutes to solve a matter of life and death will enjoy the companion soundrack.

I've had this CD for about a year now, and it's still my favorite exercise CD, hands down. The pace really gets you going, and although I'm not usually a techno fan, I love it. Nothing gets me running quite so fast as this one!

I am NOT a techno fan, but I do uphold the theory, "When it's good, it's good." This music, which effectively energized nearly every scene in "Run Lola Run", does an equally exhilarating job as a stand-alone album. If you're seeking an adrenaline rush (and some catchy, "get-out-of-your-chair-and-dance-around-the-room-in-front-of-the-mirror" rhythms), pick this one up. You won't be disappointed.

Run Lola Run, or Lola Rennt (the original German title), is considered one of the best experimental movies ever made. It's no surprise because it works off pure adrenaline in its entirity. Always a scene of running with different editing techniques (also considered the welcoming of new century filmmaking) and a constant hurried vibe. The music that supports this movie fits perfectly. It's frenetic, continuous and energetic. Even if you're not ready to "run" when you put this album on, by the middle you'll have already passed half a mile. The best way to explain what you're going to hear is pulse-pounding feverish dance/electionic music. One of the composers is actually the director and it's clear because the songs are the perfect fit to their movie counterpart. Something that may be a little hard for some to take is the remixes at the second half of the album. True they are just remixes and are not as well sectioned as the first half, but they are still easy to work to, just not as well connected. It's amazing how people overlook soundtracks when they watch movies, but, if nothing else, this soundtrack stands alone just as well as it does behind Lola Rennt.
