4.0 out of 5 stars Raucus but lacking something, April 24 2003

Great soundtrack to listen to while driving! I bought it to get the last song played in the movie...right at the end when they're doing the theatricals. Of course, it's not on the CD!!! The worst part is that I can't find out what the song or artist is......The rest of the CD is pretty good, although there are a couple of songs that seem to drag on a bit.

I bought this CD for Dishwalla's Find Your Way Back Home (this is the song they play in an episode of Charmed), but most other tracks are good as well, especially the ones by Tonic and Bic Runga.

4.0 out of 5 stars This remains a favorite soundtrack CD, Feb 4 2002

Even though I was indifferent to the movie, I bought the soundtrack anyway and immediately liked it. I have bought several others since the movie came out and only Austin Powers 2 soundtrack gets as much play as this one does in my house.

I am totally enamored with both of the tracks by Bic Runga. What a lovely and sexy voice!

It loses one star only because, at times, it seems like the album is trying a little too hard to appeal to the "youth market."

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth getting for the "few songs", Dec 22 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: American Pie (Audio CD)
I bought this soundtrack after seeing Dishwalla on an episode of Charmed and hearing "Find Your Way Back Home". That one song is worth getting the whole soundtrack, well at least for me. The next song I really liked was Tonic's "You wanted more". The surprise songs that I started to like on it were Bic Runga's "Sway". It's a really soft song and one of the only songs performed by a girl group. "Mutt" by Blink 182 was a really funny song and I thought it explained the movie so well. I really didn't like Sugar Ray's "Glory" that was just
filler. "Super DOwn" by Super Transatlantic grew on me. " New Girl" by Third Eye Blind is the typical ear- catcher first track of the soundtrack. It sounds really punk. "Stranger By THe Day" is a hard song, kinda sad.....How a relationship fades away. The funnest song on here is "Summertime" by Bachelor Number One, it has that Mediterranean vibe in it. I didn't really like "Good Morning baby" or the last two tracks. But overall this is a decent soundtrack worth getting for the Dishwalla, TOnic, Bic Runga, and Bachelor Number One songs in my opinion.
