5.0 out of 5 stars Why isn't Alfred Sole directing now?
This is one of those movies that gets under your skin and after its over makes you wonder why more movies like this havent been made. Without giving too much away, this chilling movie is about linda miller and her family being stalked by a killer. and after several of them are killed it just may well be one of their family being the killer!Linda miller, and paula...

3.0 out of 5 stars Starts off Killer ---- Ends with a whimper
The DVD of ALICE SWEET ALICE is a decent presentation, but the print used is not one of the best. Many scenes have vertical scratch marks that sometimes last for over a minute and occur in some crucial scenes. The image itself is also not the sharpest, but it is satisfactory. Other than that, the DVD doesn't include a trailer, but instead has the alternate opening...

Without giving too much away, this chilling movie is about linda miller and her family being stalked by a killer. and after several of them are killed it just may well be one of their family being the killer!Linda miller, and paula sheppherd especially did a great job and that creepy music you cant get out of your head. i have watched this several times and like it better each time i watch it. each time you watch it you also notice several things you didnt notice before. and if you watch closely you can catch who the killer is. Recommended highly! i read somewhere that they are making Alice Sweet Alice 2. i hope its as good as this!

5.0 out of 5 stars one of my favorites, Jan 21 2003

This review is from: "Alice, Sweet Alice (Widescreen)" (DVD)
When I was about 14 I saw this on tv I was fascinated by it. I later bought it on video and had to keep it hidden under my bed covered with clothes so it couldn't get me. The years have past and I watch it 2 or 3 times a year I think it's a brilliant psychological thriller. If they made a poster for it I'd hang it up in my room .

2.0 out of 5 stars Alice, Sweet Alice, Jun 4 2004
This review is from: "Alice, Sweet Alice (Widescreen)" (DVD)
Alice, Sweet Alice is an overall effective film.Yet at times it is extremely confusing or silly. The plot is fairly well written. The acting is let's say not the best. The plot goes like this a little girl is killed on her Communion and her sister is suspect.(SPOILERS)The costume isn't to bad, but I was so confused when the priest's housemother was the killer.A few of the death scenes were good for the film. One of the most confusing things about the film is the last shot.If anyone understands it please explain.Towards the end though I started to doze off.If you are younger you will probably be more scared than the older people. In conclusion if your looking for an old type horror that doesn't have to many scares you will probably enjoy this film.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Sweet Alice...Sweet Sweet Karen!, April 21 2003

This review is from: "Alice, Sweet Alice (Widescreen)" (DVD)
ALICE (played beautifully by Obscure Cult Film Actress Paula Shepard) is a really odd child, truly demented...BUT...is she actually capable of these gruesome murders?

KAREN (played by the ever lovely Brooke Shields) is the family Favorite...and greatly grieved after her grisly death.

WATCH THIS FAB FLICK WITH THE LIGHTS ON!

...If you want a movie where people die stupidly (And mostly don't die at all.) and the revelation of the movie's killer is so off the wall and dorky. Than run, don't walk and pick yourself up a brand new steamy copy of "Alice sweet Alice."
I guess a more distinguished palate might enjoy the film's protagonists constant whining and speaker crushing screaming.
But I couldn't.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sweet, Aug 24 2002

This review is from: "Alice, Sweet Alice (Widescreen)" (DVD)
When I read reviews of this movie, I was greeted by two stars, which basically told me to skip it. However, I was curious, and I'm glad I bought it. It is a chilling movie, which is very well-acted. I still don't fully understand all that happened. It was kind of confusing. But that just made it unpredictable. I had a strange feeling of deja-vu when watching this. I don't know why. It wasn't because it was cliche. I felt as if I had seen it before though if I did it must have been when I was real little. That just added to the creepiness for me. Anyway, I would suggest this movie to those who are a fan of the horror movie genre. Critics tend not to like it very much, but it seems as if general viewers often find it chilling.

4.0 out of 5 stars An odd thriller but Masterful Directed., Jan 17 2002
This review is from: "Alice, Sweet Alice (Widescreen)" (DVD)
When a young beautiful but oddly disturbing (Paula E. Sheppard) might be the murderer, who has killed her sister (Brooke Shieds) in a communion from inside the Church. Then more deaths appear and The Detectives and People that know Alice is always think is her or there`s someone out-there for Revenge.

DVD`s has an good non-anamorphic Widescreen (1.66:1) transfer and an OK Dolby Digital 1.0 Mono Sound. An running commentary track by Director:Alfred Sole and Editor:M.Edward Salier and a few more extras. This is a Interesting Suspense-Thriller, which is not for everyone to see. Grade:A-.

4.0 out of 5 stars ALICE, SWEET ALICE!, Oct 21 2001

Most people know about "Alice, Sweet Alice" because it marks the film debut of 12-year BROOKE SHIELDS! But people who like this above-average THRILLER know it has to do with director ALFRED SOLE's sense of the macabre! This one has some very CHILLING scenes long after Brooke has come and gone! She plays a young girl who is suspected of killing her sister right before receiving first communion! It turns out there are a whole bunch of murders surrounding this parish! I always liked the TAG-LINE for this 1976 film: "If You Survive This Night... Nothing Will Scare You Again." Okay, so it is not exactly true! But it sounds good to me!

I Know What You Did Last Summer came out a couple decades after Alice Sweet Alice and there is no similarity between the ASA mask and the mask in Halloween. This movie is very maccabre and it rocked!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ingenious Horror Film, Feb 23 2001

This review is from: Alice Sweet Alice (VHS Tape)
"Communion" is the better alternative title for this thoroughly enjoyable horror film. Don't expect to see much of the character of Brooke Shields, as she doesn't survive for very long! That's all I 'm saying about the plot, as this is a real whodunnit that should be enjoyed without prior warning. The real star of this movie is Paula Sheppard as the disturbed youngster Alice, who appears to be at the center of some very gruesome murders. It doesn't help that she likes to wander around in a bright yellow raincoat and spooky smiling mask, but that's just scratching the surface of this movie's weirdness..Gore highlights include a horrific stabbing through a staircase bannister which will make you wince, as well as a painful scene in which the murderer has to bash in the teeth of a victim who is biting down on a vital piece of incriminating evidence..ouch! All the acting is superb, including Linda Miller as the agonised mother, and Jane Lowry, I think as the bitchy aunt. The film really stands out because of the stylish direction and many twists, I really recommend a viewing. It has been compared to "Don't Look Now", but it reminds me more of Michael Winner's "The Sentinel", only better.
