I am not typically a fan of hip-hop music, or familiar with the band Arrested Developement, in which Dionne Farris was a member of. I recall hearing the hit 'I Know' on the radio in the nineties, but only recently heard the album 'Wild Seed - Wild Flower' through a friend. Dionne has a very powerful and expressive vocal range, writes in a wide range of styles (soul, jazz, funk, rock), and tackles topics with weight and meaning. The sound production for this 1995 recording is excellent; musicianship superb - written/produced by Dionne with co-write/production help from Randy Jackson, David Harris, Milton Davis, David Frank, and others.
Dionne's first solo effort pulls all of her ideas and influences together in an intellegent, coherent piece of work that is still fresh and exciting today, and I have yet to tire of hearing her voice and message.

Dionne Farris completed her debut album with a VH1 ready infectuos tracks, the leading single couldn't be the path to judge this album, "I Know" it's a truly pop-rock gem that it is easily to follow and listen, the rest of the album has and R&B-jazzy, blues rock kind of way, touching less zappy topics than I know, been more obscure and selfconscious, Farris has a talented voice and her delivery it's just missing that second single that could have taken her beyond the One Hit Wonder title, but this album has so deep lyrics that didn't actually was searchin' for commercial approval an error to a debut album that has to appeal to much wider audience, but even do, a great album for someone who's looking for meaningful lyrics and touching songs that are not radio ready.
