and this one does. since hearing it for the first time back in 1991 i've loved this album. it brings back images of an extended trip i took around the middle east. it was to some degree ground breaking and was certainly refreshing. there isn't a bad note on it.Enya set the bar kind of high for herself with this album as i feel that every album since must be compared to it. she has in that regard failed. not to say her newer works aren't great recordings, they are. but are they as good as shepherd moons. i think not. Shepherd Moons is a must have for any collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars Music from Above, May 28 2004
This review is from: Shepherd Moons (Audio CD)
When I first heard her first single "Orinocho Flow", I wasn't crazy about the song, and am still not. But over a decade later I borrowed several Enya CD's from a friend and was blown away. The most emotional and beautiful track on this CD is "Evacuee".

Though not every track is equal to the next, many of her songs are incredible, on this CD and her others...they touch your soul like no other songs can. If Heaven has music, then this would be it.

5.0 out of 5 stars great cd, Dec 30 2011
This review is from: Shepherd Moons (Audio CD)
Enya is one of my favorite artist. I first heard of her while getting a message. She is very calm and relaxing. I play her cd for my kids while they go to sleep it calms them and they fall a sleep easily I would recommend this cd for all ages. It is really great to incorporate into a bed time routine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another World, May 10 2004
This review is from: Shepherd Moons (Audio CD)
Shepherd Moons is unlike any other Enya CD. It plays songs to make you feel as if you are in another world. This easy listening CD includes 12 amazingly done songs. Only four of them are instrumental; Shepherd Moon, No Holly for Miss Quin, Lorthlorien, and Afer Ventus. The other 8 include the voice of Enya with lyrics. Instruments used are like no other. I find myself either just enjoying the instrumental pieces, or singing along. This CD also includes the song included in the credits of the movie, "Far and Away" with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. This song is called, Book of Days is track number 7.

Overall, this is a must buy! If you're looking for music to sing along to, easy listening, or some New Age music this one should definitely be considered. If you are an Enya fan and prefer her instrumental music instead of lyrical music, The Celts by Enya is the one to go with. But if you are looking for the majority of the music to be lyrical with that fantasy feel, look no further!

Lyrics from Track # 2: Caribbean Blue

So the world goes round and round,
With all you ever knew,
They say the sky, high above
Is Caribbean Blue

If every man says all he can
If every man is true
Do I believe, the sky above
Is Caribbean Blue?

If all you told was turned to gold
If all you dreamed was new
Imagine sky, high above
In Caribbean Blue

This song is an example of her starry and earthy themes to her music, particularly to this CD. It is melodic and poetic. Another addition to this CD is the song, "How Can I Keep from Singing" track number 3. This is an old Quaker Hymn, sometimes song even in church, but Enya sings it with her own unique style. I think the song in itself is appropriate for this CD.

Everything is simply amazing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not my favorite, but I buy anything from GENIE and ENYA, April 6 2004
This review is from: Shepherd Moons (Audio CD)
This is a good CD for any fan of peaceful music. Not as great as the best of collection or Genie's WIldflowers, but very worth owning.

Sometimes I wish Enya would use a real piano more often, like Genie does, but both of their voices are so magical that I am swept away. The peace is worth anything.

SNap up everything ever made by Genie and ENya (except maybe the Celts) and you'll be very happy.

When Enya did her album Shepherd Moons, she really did a great album. I recommend the piano book of this as well - it is a wonderful collection of songs. Enya's voice is soothing and beautiful, and the music is all enchanting.
On this album, there are 12 songs, and it runs 43 minutes and 42 seconds. This CD also comes with a booklet, which has the lyrics for all the songs plus some other things.

1. Shepherd Moons, 6. No Holly for Miss Quinn, 9. Lothlórien, and 11. After Ventus: are instrumental songs.

2. Caribbean Blue: is one of the most beautiful songs Enya has done.

3. How Can I Keep from Singing?: Is a very slow song, but has a pretty melody.

4. Ebudae: to my knowledge the lyrics don't say anything besides 'ebudae', but maybe I'm wrong. It's a fun song, done very well.

5. Angeles and 12. Smaointe: are slow songs, and a little boring to listen to.

7. Book of Days; for some reason, there are not really lyrics for this song in the booklet, nor in the piano book - but it does have English words in the song.

8. Evacuee: Is a pretty, sad, song, sung from the view of a 'evacuee' leaving her mother.

10. Marble Halls: Is a traditional song (also sung in Michael Flatley's Feet of Flames), sung very well by Enya.

Her third album; She really pulls together the best composition work from her first two and creates something that transcends the category of new age or spiritual music.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you loved Watermark, you'll love Shepard Moons!!!, Jan 31 2004
This review is from: Shepherd Moons (Audio CD)
I have always been a fan of Enya's music ever since I first listened to her album Watermark which was when I was two years old. Enya's music really makes me feel relaxed and she sings very soft and soothing music with mostly piano music in the background but sometimes she includes other instruments. Since I loved listening to Watermark I decided to try another album by Enya and out of all of the others that I heard, Shepard Moons was my favorite. So I decided to buy it and it was definitely worth the money.

The very first song "Shepard Moons" is and instrumental song and it is very good to start the album because it gets you into that kind of mood. I recognize "Caribbean Blue" from the best-of album and it is a little louder than most of her songs. It kind of reminds me of "Storms in Africa". Other instrumentals on this album are "No Holly For Miss Quinn" and "Lothlorien" and they are also great songs. Also, "Evacuee" is probably my favorite song on the album. It is a really sad song but it has very beautiful lyrics.

I think right now I kind of like Shepard Moons more than Watermark. That might just be because it was the album I recently bought. I recommend Watermark, Shepard Moons and Enya's new album "A Day Without Rain" to all new age lovers!!!
