5.0 out of 5 stars Simple Minimalist Beauty, Jan 19 2004

Have you ever thought if you could write a simple piano piece that would always move you, what would it sound like? Look no further. The music from the film "Mansfield Park" is haunting beautiful, yet so simple, if you could see the notes of the score, even a beginner could play it & impress everyone. At times this simple core moves on to classic heights yet never loses its innocence. There is also the water glass harmonic section which is rather unique. Another highlight is the "lost in a dream while the Uncle reveals all your defects" section which drones you with its penning doom. The last song "Djonga (Slavery)" reveals the freedom which most of the characters finally attain. Try this CD if your a Movie Theme collector or into Classic Minimalism.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Score, Dec 22 2003

The soundtrack from "Mansfield Park" is as beautifully done as the movie itself. It provides for beautiful background music, for whatever occasion you would need it. The original song regarding slavery on the disc is hauntingly beautiful. On the soundtrack it is given full treatment, whereas in the movie it is only an small excerpt.

Lovely, lovely, lovely. Pick this one up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner, Oct 23 2002

I am a really big fan of Jane Austin. I love her books. And I have loved most of the movies made on the books. So when I have seen soundtracks to the movies, I have been curious enough to buy. And so far I have not been disapointed! Emma is a great SDTRK, and Sense and Sensibility is worth the money. So what about Mansfield Park?
Another winner. This is a really good score. I especially recommend these tracks: 2. I Missed You, 5. Through The Rain, 10. Game Of Cards, and 15. As a Man Loves a Woman.
This CD is really good to listen to if you are in a bad mood. It is really(or should I say "Quite") relaxing!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful Piece of Music, Aug 10 2002

Well, everytime I put the tape into the VCR I can't await the first notes of "Paper and Pen", it just gives you this sweet promise of the most romantic movie ever. And all through the movie there's this very moving, romantic and overwhelming music. "Paper and Pen" gets a bright smile onto my face everytime I hear it, and "As a Man Loves a Woman" and "Run Mad" are just as moving. And of course there's the brilliant "Theme from Mansfield Park" which automatically reminds you of the parts of the movie that are comedy and of the beautiful landscape captures. "Djonga (Slavery)", the only original song, makes a perfect end title. All in all, the movie is my favorite movie and the soundtrack my favorite soundtrack because the movie makes me want to listen to the soundtrack and the soundtrack makes me want to watch the movie over and over. It's like they both are having a romance themselves . . . well, okay. It's definitely a beautiful piece of music!

Absolute favorite movie of all time. I've bought a copy for a friend and for myself. I've done the same for the soundtrack. The violinists and oboists are phenomenas to hear. I recommend this as well as Andrea Bocelli's CDs. Soothing music.

5.0 out of 5 stars A powerfully romantic and breataking score!, Mar 24 2000
This review is from: Mansfield Park (Audio CD)
Mansfield Park is a brillant film in every sense, the score is no exception! It captures the attitude and depth of this wonderful, little masterpiece. It goes from pain, to joy, and the final moment were love is truely revelled and embraced. It goes even deeper to bring across the under current of slavery in the film, by having "Djonja." Which is a song about slavery that is uplifting and sad at the same time. Mansfield Park is a masterpiece in everyway possible!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful, Sweeping Score, Jan 9 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Mansfield Park (Audio CD)
I bought Mansfield Park completely on whim and chance. I haven't even seen the film yet but I liked what I heard in the trailer and other previews. This score has beautiful orchestration it it, with special attention placed it the strings section. Many parts of the cd remind me of the score to to the film Jude. This is a much better pick than Shakespeare in Love or other current popular film scores but not as good as Sense and Sensibility, my all time favorite. This composer is one to watch for and I thoroughly recomend this cd to lovers of sweeping film scores that go beyond "oh this is pretty" and long for ones of substance. I just hope the film in as great as the music.
