Gimmie a break!,
This review is from: Texas Chainsaw Massacre : The Next Generation (Fullscreen/Widescreen) (DVD)
GIMMIE A BREAK. THAT MOVIE SHOULD NOT EVEN BE OUT FOR SALE SINCE THEY NEVER BROUGHT IT UP ON BIG SCREEN WITH ALL THEIR PROBLEMS. SUCKS BIG TIME AND IT'S A SHAME TO SEE TWO GOOD ACTORS PLAY IN THAT MOVIE.

AFTER READING COUNTLESS BAD REVIEWS FOR THIS FILM I HAVE TO ADMIT I UNDERSTAND WHY SOME PEOPLE DID NOT LIKE IT AND THAT IT IS UNDENIABLY AN AQIURED TASTE. HOWEVER!!!! I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHEN PEOPLE TRASH THIS FILM IN COMPARASIION TO THE ORIGINAL CLASSIC. THE ORIGINAL IS INDEED A CLASSIC. A CLASSIC IN THE SENSE THAT SOMEHOW IT EVER EARNED THAT TITLE. ITS TRULY ONE OF THE WORST PIECES OF CINEMA I HAVE EVER, AND PROBABLY WILL EVER SEE. I USALLY AM EXTREMELY TOLERABLE WHEN IT COME TO OTHERS OPINIONS BUT THERE'S TAKING THE PISS AND THEN THERE'S TAKING THE PISS!!! NEXT GENERATION FOCUSES ON 2 OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENTS OF CINEMA -ACTING AND ACTING. RENE ZELWEGGERS PERFORMANCE IS APPLAUDABLE, AND I ALMOST DIDNT PURCHASE THIS MOVIE BECAUSE OF HOW MUCH I DESPISED HER. THEN I SAW SHE COULD ACT, HIPERVENTILATE, SCREAM, CRY, RUN LIKE HELL AND EVEN LET MATHEW MCONAUGHEY SPIT ON HER FACE REPEATEDLY. THAT ALONE SHOWS WHAT TO MANY ACTORS AND FILMS AVOID THESE DAYS --EFFORT!!! MATHEW MCONAUGHEY IS ALSO FLAWLESS AS THE MASTERMIND MANIAC WHO MANAGES TO ELEVATE INSANITY TO COMMON SENSE. THIS IS THE ONLY WORTHY FILM IN THE SERIES TO WATCH, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE RECENT REMAKE OF THE ORIGINAL WICH IS ALSO A MILLION RUNGS UP THE LADDER ON ACTING AND QUALITY AND EVEN STORY OVER THE ORIGINAL. I'VE STOPPED TRYING TO MAKE SENSE OF HOW ANYONE COULD EVEN FIND THE ORIGINAL STIMULATING BECAUSE IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE. AND I WONT TRY TO CONVINCE FANS OF THE ORIGINAL BECAUSE I WONT ARGUE WITH A MORON - FIRST THEY WILL DRAG YOU DOWN TO THEIR LEVEL-THEN THEY WILL BEAT YOU WITH EXPERIENCE.

This 1995 'remake' to the classic mid 70's flick TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE is genuinely entertaining. The acting is fairly good and the movie is actually kind of funny at points (in a good way). The dark humor and ferocious horror/suspense is pretty thrilling. The movie is a re-make so it's basically the same thing as the first one except the teens (although they look 30) are coming home from prom when they get stuck out in the woods. Eventually they come toward the demented family and the 'fun' really starts. I really found it scary BECAUSE you don't know in the beginning whether that lady is one of them or she realy wants to help out... the last 20 minutes were fairly weak compared to the original but this was a pretty decent movie all in all. I thought it was creepy and had some funny moments. Not the strong point in the series, I think part 3 was better then this one, but it is worth a watch.GRADE: C+

Even though it's easily available elsewhere, Columbia has not chosen to release the uncut version of this movie on DVD. The case claims that it has the 94 minute version but it doesn't. The production notes they list are also not on this DVD. Normally this company is trustworthy but here they're just slacking and lying about it.

I took one look at the cover of this movie and nearly coughed up blood. In my mind, Matthew McConnaghey(whatever his name is) and Renee Zellweger DO NOT belong in my Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies. It seems downright blasphemous.. until you watch it.This movie is highly hilarious. Here's your summary: Four teens(including Zellweger) go on an after prom ride into the boonies, only to find a nearly dead kid on the road. The teens split up to find help with a broken flash-light, only to run into a crazy redneck(McConnaughey) and his equally crazy family. Hijinx ensue. The old chainsaw family is replaced with a new one which, while my purist side balks, is almost equal to the original characters. Here we have McConnaughey as a crazy mofo with a robotic leg, his quote-spouting brother, his lusty and very battered wife, and, of course, good old Leather. A winning combination. Most TCM fans are angered by the inclusion of Leatherface cross-dressing, and I can't blame them. If the thought of that turns you green, stay away from this movie. I, however, can't argue with Leatherface doing the chainsaw dance in a dress, no sir. This movie is definetely not for purists;. I would, however, recommend it as a good time. Some times you have to be afraid of angry retarded men with chainsaws, and sometimes you have to laugh with them. This movie is for your laughs.

As a fan of the first two movies, I picked this one up with some trepidation. People were saying such bad things about it, I half expected it to have been shot on VHS. The cover art just added to my fears, as it called to mind Rocky Horror, but since I was going through a TCM phase anyway, I figured I should give this a go.What I found when I loaded this into my DVD was a half-decent horror film. Essentially, its just a remake/update of the original, but a weirdly effective one. New characters are added and new motivations are assigned and the world the first TCM took place in has radically changed. The DVD doesn't offer much in the way of extras. There are some liner notes and theatrical trailers for TCM:TNG plus some other, lesser movies. All in all, I would say, if you're a devotee of the first movie, you probably wont have much use for this interloper, but if you're just looking for a cheezy good time with some mutilation and conspiracy theory thrown in, you could do a lot worse then TCM:TNG.

This movie is so bad you gotta see it to believe. This movie it pure, total 100% crap! No humor, bad (over)acting, (or no acting at all) no story, no horror(!), no nothing. Even the quality of the sound and images are way below standard. Only bought & saw it cuzz it was only 3 Euro's, wich is way, way, way, waaayyyyyyyy too much money for such a shamefull dud. My tip? Throw it in the open fire place, it may stink a bit, but at least it warms ye up for a few wee minutes.. Ps. It's not possible to give no stars.. so henceforth the one :(

Not for the reason below, but because it is simply the worst Chainsaw movie ever. I thought nothing could be as bad as Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III, but this takes the cake.
