Waiting for a Complete Release,

This review is from: My So-Called Life: Pilot/Dancing in the Dark/Guns (1994) (DVD)
My-So Called Life is a captivating bit of teenage nostalgia. It wears well after repeated viewings and DVD is a great format for compulsive watching of favorite episodes. I recorded the series originally on VHS and am ready to get a longer-lasting set on DVD. But, I'm NOT too enthusiastic about getting three episodes at a time. There were only 19 episodes, so could the folks at BMG just release it as one set, please! As soon as the complete set is released, I'll pick it up.

Wonderful show that I cannot get enough of. Even at the age of 37, this show takes me back to my teenage years and all of the related angst and wonder. The acting by the cast is top notch. I especially like AJ Langer, Claire Danes, and Devon Odessa.Apparently, BMG Special Projects may not release any more of the My So-Called Life episodes on DVD! If you're a fan like me, contact BMG Special Projects to have BMG Special Projects release the rest of the episodes on DVD. There are rumblings that they may release a boxed-set of all episodes, so make sure you make your desire to own more MSCL DVDs known.

I watch this show on The-N (they play re-runs at 11p.m. Mondaythrough Thursday , and on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 8:30, 10:30 and 12:30 at night), and at first when I saw the commercials for it I thought it would be a stupid drama series. Boy, was I wrong! The first episode I saw was "Dancing in the Dark", and the minute I started watching, I was hooked!!!!!! I love the entire cast of that show ---especially Rayanne (A.J. Langer), and I was dissapointed when I found that they cancelled I can't believe it was cancelled. I mean, to me and all the fans of this show, My So-Called Life is like a drug (a good kind;))

This is one of those rare genius', smart TV Shows out there. I just recently discovered 'My So-Called Life' last year while flicking through cable and saw A.J Langer as Rayanne, who is one of my all time favourite actors. I then saw Clare Danes come onto the screen (who I'v always liked), and then I saw Jared Leto, while the time I was thinking ''What is this show'', I couldn't help but notice and be impressed by the humour of it and the true honesty of it. Watching Clare Danes as Angela Chase and her questioning of things and the humour of Rayanne, I really felt that I had stumbled onto something special and unique. Now I'm really femiliar with the show and a definite fan, I have yet to buy this on DVD but I can't wait to be the proud owner of this fine, witty, wonderful show.

The complete set is available on DVD through this site as well as others. So stop complaining.Good show. DO NOT order through Another Universe, it is not worth the hassle. It is no longer exclusive to them, so you have a choice. Buy it now. It's up to you. Just don't buy from AU. You have been warned. K

I agree with the last reviewer. I am a huge fan of the show, My So Called Life, and was very sad when they decided not to air it any more. Luckily though, a local movie store started to carry these boxed sets of the show. I was happy again. I bought the first two boxed sets on video (one tape being the video form of this DVD selling on this web site). I came back again and again for the third, for the last episodes. Because each set, as you see, only contains six episodes. (two on each video tape or DVD) Unfortunately for some reason they discontinued them. So I have searched far and wide for the last boxed set that was apparently dicontinued and I have had no luck so far. I am now anxious to watch the other episodes seeing as when I am done watching the first twelve, I am continuously left hanging. Knowing there are seven (I thought there is only 18 episodes all together, I have now been informed there is 19!) All in all I agree with my fellow fans of the show. NO MORE MESSIN AROUND! Either continue the sets again, ALL OF THEM! Or come out with a boxed set with THE ENTIRE SERIES! EVERY EPISODE! I will for sure be one of the first to buy it. It is true the reason this DVD is not selling well. We want ALL the episodes! Not just three, or six, or twelve...ALL OF THEM! Well thanx for listening. Hope to see the entire series soon. PS I gave the DVD a five star rating based on the show itself, not the form it comes in.

This was one of my favorite shows EVER. Thank goodness that I taped it during one of MTV's marathons because the VHS and initial DVD releases did not include every episode. The five star rating is for the show, NOT the Pilot/Dancing in the Dark/Guns DVD. Shame on BMG for not releasing the rest of the episodes years ago. Cut to an online petition signed by over 3000 MSCL fans...FINALLY the box set (5 discs of all 19 episodes, plus a bonus disc with extras) is being released by BMG *exclusively* through anotheruniverse. Although it is too late to receive the special collector's edition lunchbox (available only to those who preordered in February), I believe that they are still accepting orders. Anotheruniverse did say that they are manufacturing a limited run, so I don't know how much longer they will accept orders. A word of warning: MANY preorder customers have had problems with anotheruniverse so be sure to order using a credit card, NOT a debit card! I can't wait to have my own MSCL marathon!! 19 hours straight of Angela and Jordan all over again. :D

I did buy this DVD and I love it. It compliments the scattered VHS episodes I have but I too long for the entire series to be available on DVD. Somebody, anybody, powers that be, take a page from the "Buffy" book and release this series on DVD finally!

The Best TV Show Ever Deserves Better,
This review is from: My So-Called Life: Pilot/Dancing in the Dark/Guns (1994) (DVD)
'My So-Called Life' fully deserves it's reputation as the best (a shortest-lived) show about growing up ever made. It's staggering and absolutely heartbreaking in it's acute observations of human behavior. It's also wildly funny in parts, and certainly not "just another teen show." It will always have a very special place in my heart and in the hearts of millions of fans around the world. Yet I've given this DVD a 1 star rating. Why? Here's why: All fans of the show are asking for is a DVD set of all 19 episodes. That's all. We want nothing more. Is that REALLY too much to ask? Why even bother with this pitiful 3-episode release? 'My So-Called Life' only ran for ONE SEASON. Surely a boxset can't be that much trouble for distributers? (You only need look at the *millions* of 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' boxsets that have been sold to know what a good idea this whole "bulk episode release" (ie; box-set) thing is.) There's MUCH money to be made here! Many eager customers just WAITING to buy! What on EARTH are they waiting for??Whoever's in charge of releasing the series on video/DVD needs to get their arse into gear before fans (or some nefarious, enterprising individual) get so fed up they start making and distributing their own pirate DVD copies... |
