5.0étoiles sur 5 Excellent movie
If you can't laugh at this movie then you've got some major issues. While some people may look at it as a wonderful and touching family film, it's just as great if you're in the 18-24 demographic and looking for some low-brow (but highly entertaining) comedy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but a hockey-playing monkey is just about the best thing that's ever happened to...

3.0étoiles sur 5 Take it with a grain of salt
I found this movie rather so so. Some of the scenes were quite touching, but some of the events in the movie were just too improbable. The refs disallowed the first goal by the chimp because he was an ineligible player, why did they not disallow a later goal for the same reason? I thought the movie tastefully done on the whole, but too many little things rather spoiled...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a hockey-playing monkey is just about the best thing that's ever happened to Hollywood. And let's not forget that Jack went on to become a master skateboarder and snowboarder (in MVP 2 and MXP, respectively). This monkey is a top-notch actor, athlete, scholar, and gentleman.

1.0étoiles sur 5 Go to the circus if you'd like to laugh at majestic animals., Janv. 9 2003
Par Un client
A silly little wobble of a film. I don't find these type of films enjoyable at all. Even as a child, I found it hard to laugh at the exploitation of animals if only for the sake of a low-brow audience. If you enjoy low-class comedy (i.e. fart jokes and the like) then by all means check out this movie...it will surely tickle your "dumb bone".

5.0étoiles sur 5 "Dunston Checks In" meets "Air Bud!", Nov. 2 2002
This is a great movie, including the cast: Kevin Zegers, Jaimee Renee Smith. I didn't see the sequel "MVP 2- Most Valuable Primate", but I give it a ***** (5 out of 5).

Seeing as I resemble a chimp in many ways, I really related to this movie. The hockey scenes were great!

Okay, first off, great movie. Good for the kids. Anyways, meet Jack, a monkey, and his dimwitted owner(not the most important of characters, so let's get on with the story). When Jack's owner sends him on a train to the El Simian Nature Preserve, Jack accidentally falls asleep, so he rides all the way to Canada. There, he camps out at a tree house for the night, and then goes to a skating pond to watch some people skate. Enter Steven and Tara. Steven plays for a hockey team(Named the Golden Nuggets)who hasn't won in forever(clearly shown by the old guy with the hearing aid). Tara, is Stevens younger hearing impaired sister. Tara thinks she sees Jack, but isn't quick enough to catch a glance. She meets him in the tree house later on. She then takes Jack to her room and keeps him there for the night in the closet, but doesn't tell anyone. The next day they go back to the skating pond and teach Jack to skate. He shoots a puck at lightning fast speeds, and Steven thinks he missed, but is wrong. The next scene is after Steven and Tara leave for a hockey game, and Jack sneaks out and walks the way there. He tries on all the equipment(the name on his shirt is appropriately Ribchimpsky or something). He's seen on the rink, and the little guy does terrific. The board discusses it, and they allow Jack to play. But while this is going on, Tara is showing Jack to her mom, who calls every zoo in town to see if anyone is missing a chimp(really someone is, the university at the biggening. that's why Jack left in the first place), but she doesn't find anyone and allows the monkey to stay. A few scenes of things like games and christmas. Then the kids are leaving for school, and Tara brings Jack in for show and tell. The Nuggets have made it all the way to the harvest cup, and by now the University has caught up with Jack. At the Cup, Steven cuts out of the game(so Ribchimpsky is back in) and takes Jack with him. Jack and Tara have switched places, and she winds up sliding under a players knees and barraly pushes the puck in for the winning goal. Dr. Peabody(University headguy) gets to Tara, and if furious it's not Jack. Meanwhile, Steven is sending Jack on his way to the El Simian Nature Preserve. Jack makes it to the Preserve, and his dimwitted owner is there(cute monkey howls, can't miss it). All in all, it's a great movie, the monkey's cute, and it wasn't ruined by the kid who's been in the Air Bud movies.

5.0étoiles sur 5 Most Valuable Movie, Jui 8 2002

we are all getting tired of the Disney's continuous effort to make air bud a touching film, and Kevin Zegers tries...very hard at all the rolls he does. So I say ditch Air Bud and watch something a little bit different. i recommend this movie: MVP. great for the whole family, touching, and Kevin Zegers bring out the best in the movie. It has dry humor sometimes, young kids wont understand it, and touching heart felt moments. Other then that...a wonderful family film!

5.0étoiles sur 5 The Courage Of Champions, Sep 17 2001
Ce commentaire est de: MVP: Most Valuable Primate (VHS Tape)
A fantastic, wonderful story involving feelings and attitudes. Virtues from honesty to courage to perseverance are personified, rather than preached. The characters play the story straight instead of wholesale slapstick. Sends a clear message of acceptance. It won the kids over, every one. They definitely would watch again. "Funny, crazy, exciting, terrific. Hilarious in places." Portrayal of hearing-impaired sister impressed them. "Even if you are different you can still do things." "I want to learn sign language." Best for ages 8 to 12.

I thought this movie was soo good! It's really hard to find movies that don't ahve alot of junk in them, but this one doesn't! I really like it that there are actually 3 stories in one. One is about Jack, the other one is about the hockey team, and the other one is about Tara. With the other parts, this movie is good for people who aren't sports fans too. I love it!
