5.0 out of 5 stars Untamed Heart
i found this film to be brilliant, it is a true romance i love it. i have watched it tons of times and i enjoy it even more each time i do, i cry all the time even though i know what is coming it is just one of those films. i thought Christian Slater played the role very well as did Marisa Tomei. if you have not seen it yet buy it you will not be disappointed!!

This isn't a BAD movie per se, but it isn't great. Yes, it will make you cry. The premise is somewhat contrived. Marissa is so adorable though, how can you resist her? And Christian does a great job here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Please Pass The Kleenex..., April 7 2004
This review is from: Untamed Heart (Widescreen) (DVD)
Where do I begin? This is one of my most favorite romantic movies of all time! To say it was sweet and yet sad does not even begin to do it justice. This movie draws you in heart and soul. You feel sorry for Adam's tragic life of being left alone as a child because of his bad heart. Then you feel bad for him because he is alone as an adult. Yet at the same time, you feel bad that Caroline can't find love or a decent guy to share time with. Then she finds Adam! When Adam saves her from two rapists, you can't help but believe that chivalry is alive again! You can see Slater and Tomei's chemistry together and they just seem to "fit". One of the most touching parts of the movie for me was when Caroline was cutting Adam's hair and they had a beautiful conversation and he opened his heart about being alone because the Nuns felt it better not to hurt his health by letting him be out with people. Slater did an excellent job of portraying his loneliness, but he also showed a gentleness you don't see in the movies much these days. Adam (Slater) opens up to Caroline and she sees that he has a heart of gold. Caroline (Tomei) did an excellent job taking Adam's love and the two fell in deep! If you love romance movies, you will love this! You will be rooting for the characters all the way! This movie is one you can watch over and over again and never get tired of it. Rent it, or better, "Buy it" today!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars HINTS OF CHARM BUT NOT QUITE A GEM.., Mar 22 2004

Your regular watchable romantic movie with some good chemistry between the characters, not just the protagonists. Sadly, the plot was somewhat predictable and didn't do justice to what could have been a great theme. The script failed to challenge, choosing instead to sporadically produce some touching dialogue that draws you gently into the story but never quite reaches any significant depth. If this were music it would be in the 'easy listening' category which is a shame because there could have been so much more. Worth watching however in spite of that, especially if you enjoyed the likes of Notting Hill or My Best Friend's Wedding.

5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute art work !, July 26 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Untamed Heart (Widescreen) (DVD)
I find "Untamed Heart" an absolute art work ! Cynics may comment on the illogical parts of the films (especially the baboon-heart! ) or the predictability of the plot, nevertheless this movie reveals love so tenderly and beautifully. As I watched this movie, the fine chemistry of Tomei and Slater looked like a beautiful dance, with slow motion at the beginning, peak-moments in the middle and tragic yet memorable final movement in the end. Some reviewers said their actings are of mediocre quality, I absolutely disagree -- the chemistry definitely works out between the two actors and it is sensed by the audience as both were crowned with the best movie kiss in 1993.

Tip: Enjoy Untamed Heart as if you were looking two ballet dancers , and try to inhale the atmosphere yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Beautiful Love Story, May 14 2003
This review is from: Untamed Heart (Widescreen) (DVD)
"Untamed Heart" is one of my favorite movies! It revolves around a shy, introverted young man named Adam who has fallen in love with one of his co-workers. Every night he walks her home (she doesn't know he's doing it until something drastic happens) to make sure she's safe.

Once she sees that Adam is a kind, gentle (almost child-like) soul and isn't the weird guy she always thought, she discovers herself falling just as much in love with him. The bad thing is that Adam's heart, which has been ravaged by disease, is ceasing to work as well as it once had. Adam has tough choice to make: receive a new heart from a donor or keep his heart and love her the way he had in the past (side note: Adam felt that if he lost his original heart he wouldn't love her the same.

This film will definitely tug on your heart strings and make you believe in love regardless of what others tell you or how someone is perceived. If it's strong enough, love can withstand all. I would highly recommend this film!

1.0 out of 5 stars Pathetic - this movie deserves a negative rating!, Jan 23 2003
This review is from: Untamed Heart (Widescreen) (DVD)
What little plot there is, is completely unbelievable. The acting is sophmoric. A baboon's heart - COME ON! We are given nothing to understand the "deep love" between these characters. There was no emotion or romance here - at least nothing from Marisa Tomei as her acting was completely wooden.

If you haven't seen this movie, don't waste your time. There are plenty of great movies out there that convey a memorable story. Try "The Unbearable Lightness of Being", as the story of a (believable) relationship and how it changes over time - with real romance and emotion.

Now, if there were only a way to give Untamed Heart a negative rating!

4.0 out of 5 stars HEARTS ON FIRE, Oct 23 2002

This review is from: Untamed Heart (Widescreen) (DVD)
It is rare to come across a movie such as Untamed Heart. Firstly, it's a Hollywood movie with a Hollywood cast. Secondly, it's a love story. Put the two together and you are bound to come up with something so sugary and sickening you'll want to throw up. How then did this movie get to be so good? The story is strong, structured and will stay in the mind (I first saw it around 1995 and have now, 2002, got the DVD) the acting is first class, with Tomei an absolute gem as always. The biggest surprise of this movie was the ending. If this had been typical Hollywood fodder, then you could have seen the sunset, smiles and happy-ending a mile off, but this movie remains defiant until the last, delivering one surprise after another, before you have to admit that you really don't know what's coming next in a movie as unpredicatable as life itself. Touching, memorable and above all important, this is more than worth viewing, it is essential viewing and guaranteed to warm the coldest of hearts.

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS THE BEST LOVE STORY EVER MADE IN HOLLYWOOD!, Aug 25 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Untamed Heart (VHS Tape)
YEP, WITHOUT A DOUBT IN MY MIND, UNTAMED HEART IS THE BEST LOVE STORY EVER! I WAS COMPLETELY TOUCHED BY THE WHOLE MOVIE AND THE ACTORS/ACTRESSES AND FILM/MUSIC PRODUCERS TRULY GAVE THE MOVIE THE PERFECT FINAL TOUCHES! THE MUSIC WAS SO WELL DONE FOR THE MOVIE THAT IT MADE IT ALL THE MORE ENJOYABLE. I CRIED AT THE END AND AT THE HOCKEY GAME, BECAUSE BOTH SCENES WERE SO MOVING! I THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST BEEN NOMINATED FOR BEST ACTOR OR MOVIE OR AT LEAST SONG/ORIGINAL SCORE. ALL THE ACTORS AND ACTRESSES PUT ON SOME OF THEIR BEST PERFORMANCES, AND FOR THOSE WHO TRASHED THIS MOVIE, I JUST CAN'T SEE WHY. OBVIOUSLY, THEY DON'T LIKE/APPRECIATE THESE KINDS OF MOVIES THE WAY OTHERS DO. SO, IF ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE WANTS A GOOD CRY, A GOOD LAUGH, OR JUST A REALLY TOUCHING AND MOVING LOVE STORY TO WATCH OR RENT, SEE THIS ONE TODAY! THE MOVIE IS A TERRIFIC AND PRICELESS LOVE STORY AND WORTH THE MONEY YOU PAY TO SEE IT!(PLUS, EVEN THOUGH THE ENDING SHOULDN'T HAVE ENDED THE WAY IT DID, I STILL GAVE THE MOVIE FIVE STARS BECAUSE IT IS A REAL LOVE STORY FOR ONCE, AND IT TRULY MOVED ME.-AND-IT CAME FROM HOLLYWOOD, WHOSE LOVE STORIES ARE USUALLY NOTHING LIKE THESE ONES...SO I WAS SURPRISED AND HAPPY TOO). BUT, IF YOU DON'T LOVE THIS MOVIE LIKE I AND SO MANY OTHERS DO, THEN PLEASE AT LEAST DON'T TRASH IT. IT DESERVES BETTER THAN FOR PPL TO SAY IT WAS A TEAR-JERKER.~PEACE~
