Outstanding concert and DVD,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Jazz Channel Presents B.B. King (DVD)
This DVD does an excellent job of capturing the essence of the performances B.B. King puts on today. It's amazing the energy he continues to put into his music despite his age and infirmities. Ditto to the other reviews praising the production values. The DTS recording is superb. Great for fans, great to introduce newbies to the master.

This is yet another great DVD I purchased at Amazon. This is BB King in concert taken from the BET network show BET on Jazz. This is a fairly recnt concert. BB sits while he performs now due to his age and weight I suppose. He still puts on a great show though. He has the whole band with him and a horn section. This DVD is encoded in the DTS format. If you haven't heard DVDs in DTS you don't know what your missing. It opens the sound up that much more and you hear greater separation and clarity. The sound quality on this DVD is just incredible. My hat's off to whomever recorded and mixed this concert. There's a few other BB DVDs out there and they are all good, but the sound on this one beats them. If you have a good sourround sound system (with DTS) and you play this DVD and close your eyes you would swear you were listening to BB live. It's that good. A great choice to add to your DVD collection.

...well neither is winning a million dollars!!!! This dvd is great. "Making Love is Good for You" is a great tune. Hey the man is a couple of years shy of 80 years old... and can still make beautiful music. "Please Accept My Love" is sweet song and good introduction to "Makin' love is good for you". Heck if you ain't seen the man play it's about high time. You will not be dissatisfied. The sound is great and the "Interview with B.B. King" segment is great too...... Buy this dvd!!!

Everyone Will Swing For Sure,

This was on my brother-in-law's wish list and we gave it to him for Christmas. He played it immediately. My 89-year-old mother-in-law was inspired to get up and show us how to swing dance. In fact, it made a room of six diverse musical tastes very happy. It also stimulated the economy. On the basis of this DVD, the first they had ever seen, my in-laws decided to buy it and a player. This is pure BB, great listening and dancing jazz, and the quality of the DVD is such, it feels like live entertainment. A must have classic if you collect concert DVDs.

This is a must have for BB King fans. The interview is very interesting. It is well produced and is particularly well done in DTS. Audio is well balanced and seems to place you at a good table in quiet club. It documents a good show by one of blues greatest performers. If you have never seen BB live, you need to see this. If you have seen BB live, you'll remember how great he is.

I have seen BB live on several occasions and this is just like being there only better. This brings you on stage with him. If you are a BB fan then you got to have this one for when he is gone you can keep going to his concerts.

B.B. King is the greatest. Tears became taking out in the figure that he plays the guitar. And,I was satisfied so much with his forcible voice and the sound of the "Luccile". Moreover, the picture was also very beautiful. I wanna him to continue to sing & play for all the way. Keep on bluesin' B.B.!!

The Thrill is *NOT* Gone!,
This review is from: The Jazz Channel Presents B.B. King (DVD)
Hey, the man is an absolute legend, and deservedly so. This legendary status is not the product of clever marketing like so many of today's stars, but of years of playing the blues. He is just a giant figure in the blues -- talented, yet humble and down-to-earth, gifted, and with decade upon decade of experience. This video does him justice. The sound quality is excellent. The setting -- a restaurant-jazz-club style is intimate and classy (hey, he could fill up a stadium with fans!). His band is excellent. Everyone is dressed up tastefully. The video is excellent....no annoying MTV-style angles, no annoying cuts. And B B himself comes across wonderfully, his facial expressions, his dialogue between the songs, his playing. I particulary liked "Peace of Mind". This is a great DVD, and any blues or jazz fan should have this in their archive.

This would have to be ,for want of a better word " OUTSTANDING ". The DTS soundtrack is the ultimate, I have been lucky enough to see B.B.King live over ten years ago and I thought I would never again be able to experience the power and emotion that only the king can produce with his musical presence. A big thank you to The Jazz Channel. The only thing that could top this performance would: OH! What am I saying," nothing can".
