Make it Stop!,
This review is from: Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (Widescreen Unrated Special Edition) (DVD)
Mere words cannot describe just how awful this movie is. While I was certainly not expecting Shakespeare in the Park, I did expect something resembling a storyline and dialogue that sounded like it was coming from people with more than two brain cells to rub together. I'm sure the audience is supposed to just ignore the Matrix-wannabe fight scenes, but this just went too far out. I'm all for the "girl power" idea that Drew Barrymore thinks she is portraying in this movie, but back flips and martial arts moves in four inch stilletos? Puh-leeze! The only bright spots of this mish-mash of a movie are Bernie Mac and Demi Moore - who unlike the present angels, looks like someone who actually could kick some a## (trust me, the present angels are so ditzy and insipid, you are praying that Demi Moore will succeed in killing them). But even the only two characters that don't make you want to retch look embarrassed at some of the dialogue they are forced to speak in this ridiculous movie. The first movie was silly, but had a few fun moments... this one is just plain bad unless you're a fourteen year old boy in search of a T&A fest.

Not As Good As The Original Film,
By TommyElf (Denton, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (Widescreen Unrated Special Edition) (DVD)
Not a bad film. Very cheesy in places, tons of extremely bad puns, even more bad one-liners. Out of this world martial arts (IOW, stuff no one on this planet could possibly do), fantastic fight scenes, comic book realism. Lots of nice shots of Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu - unfortunately, plenty of shots of Drew Barrymore (this girl just ain't hot to me). Demi Moore plays an excellent Bad Angel, and looks the part very well (yum). Bernie Mac replaces Bill Murray as the character of Bosley. There's even a cameo from Jaclyn Smith as her character from the TV series.Let's dig into the meat of it all. We all know (at least we do now), that I care little for Drew Barrymore. So let's toss that off to the side. Cameron and Lucy are hot, hot, hot. Excellent outfits, they look fantastic - and we get Cameron's smile all throughout the film, a major plus in my book. Demi Moore does an excellent job with her character, although we don't see much of the character throughout the movie - a true shame, but her character had a lot of flair to it. Bernie Mac. Could they have picked a worse follow-on character for Bill Murray's Bosley?? Hardly. Bernie's character is boring, not funny, and totally miscast. We get a return of the "Thin Man" character from the first film, but again, it is botched in trying to explain his origins. The fight scenes are simply incredible. And I mean that in a fantastical sense - one where reality becomes comic-bookish. Once you get past that idea, and settle on the comic-book flavor of the movie - the fight scenes become a lot of fun to watch. Lucy's kicks are just incredible to watch, and once again the outfits are great. Unfortunately, one cannot say that about the plot. Poorly written - cheesy, campy, tons of plot holes to drive the VIII Corps through....but its fun. Again, you have to adopt the comic-book flavor of the movie - and what you get...is a lot of fun, once you suspend the concept of reality correctness. One outstanding thing about this movie is its soundtrack. Upbeat, matching the scenes that they are placed in, the songs really add a positive flair to the movie. Three stars out of five. Not the greatest film to go see - it doesn't live up to the original - but its still fun.

Angels fly again,

"Charlie's Angels: Full Throatal" is the sequal to the suprise hit "Charlie's Angels". We find the girls (Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, and Lucy Lui) going after a former Angel (Demi Moore) who has a Federal Witness Protection list of people in hiding, trying to sell the list to the mob. The acting is pretty bad, the special effects all look like they are done on a blue screen, and the plot is pretty absurd. But dispite all these short comings, it still isn't all that bad. The cameos are pretty fun; we have Bruce Willis, Pink, John Cleese, Carrie Fisher, the Olson Twins, and even former Angel Jaclyn Smith shows up to deliever a pep talk. "Charlie's Angels" the TV show was never taken very seriously, except by the show itself, and that is where I thought it failed. The movie do not take itself seriously at all. The film is a parady of many movies, like "Terminator" 1 and 2, "Raiders of the Lost Ark", "Pink Panther", "Chicago", "CSI", "Flashdance", "10", "Spiderman", "The Matrix", and "Cape Fear"; and those are the ones I know about. It is a mindless, fun way to kill about an hour and a half. So, go ahead and treat your self to this little guilty pleasure.
