Absolute Masterpiece,

This review is from: Man on Fire (Widescreen) (DVD)
This movie is by far once of the best movies I have seen in a very very long time. One guy made the comment that Denzel didnt have a character that was believeable, this couldnt be anymore further from the truth. This movie is great from opening credit to the closing credits. Denzel once again not only wows me but Dakota Fanning did an outstanding job also. Anybody that hasnt seen this movie really needs to take the time and watch this. GREAT, AWESOME movie. you will all be happy you did...September 14th cant come soon enough.....5 stars isnt a good enough rating for this movie but its all i can give itGO SEE THIS

Washington is Creasy Bear...storyline diverges from the book,
By
This review is from: Man on Fire (Widescreen) (DVD)
If you've read the book, the movie's storyline is a little disappointing. If you've seen the movie and haven't read the book yet... You really need to. It is most satisfying, and will give you a better understanding and appreciation of the character Creasy. The location switch from Italy to Mexico works well. Of course, we miss out on the Isle of Gozo. As with most novel-to-cinema adaptions, we miss out on a lot of subplot (Creasy's women). And as is inevitable with a major studio production, the ending has been "Hollywood-ized." (can't tell you more without giving away the ending... read the book). However, Denzel Washington does an excellent job portraying the character Creasy, as I knew he would. Dakota Fanning is Pinta, no question about it. Christopher Walken, always a good choice, was an excellent casting choice here. A.J. Quinnell would be proud. Marc Anthony...? Well, A.J. Quinnell would understand.

This review is from: Man on Fire (Widescreen) (DVD)
Saw the movie, thought it was amazing... a different type of movie, a little slow at the begining establishing plot and story.. really getting a good feel for Washingtons character and Dakotas character.Just recently saw the book in my Dads collection of 20 years ago and read it. Thought the book was amazing. Its a little different than the movie, but just a superb book and movie. Cant wait to get my hands on the DVD !!!

This movie is fantastic. The first part of the movie sets up the audience perfectly, hope is given, taken away and then given to you again. This is a fantastic movie, I can't speak highly enough of it. If you like ANY of the actors in this movie; see this movie.

Good Movie for Denzel,

This review is from: Man on Fire (Widescreen) (DVD)
I avoid most Denzel Washington movies. Generally he is cast in the role of a too-slick, too-smart, unbelievable hero character. In Man on Fire, he is cast differently, and it is great! He plays a decrepit assassin wore down by guilt and booze, but spurred by revenge, demonstrates a really mean streak. This is a different role for Denzel! The setting for the movie, Mexico City, is also different and refreshingly interesting. The plot is believeable. The ending is a bit too contrived, but overall, I found this action-drama entertaining.

Disappointing,

This review is from: Man on Fire (Widescreen) (DVD)
A very disappointing film that tries too hard to be dramatic. Denzel Washington, who is an excellent accomplished actor, has his talent wasted on a film that does nothing but constantly bombard the viewer with slow motion and special effects. The result is a film with very little with regards to a plausible story line and the slow motion frames are distracting and irritating. Don't waste your time on this one; it is a total bore.

the first half is better,
By A Customer
This review is from: Man on Fire (Widescreen) (DVD)
i really enjoyed the first half with the development of the friendship between pita and creasy. not slow or boring at all. i also like the saturated color of this movie. as for the second half, i found it a little too hero formulated.
