5.0 out of 5 stars My first yoga DVD
I am a beginner to yoga. I've never taken classes and this was my first DVD, so basically my first time EVER doing yoga and I loved it! I did not think the poses were too hard, especially since they give you options in most of them to keep it simple or show you how to make it a little more challenging. I feel sore and well worked out after doing this one (which I'm sure...

3.0 out of 5 stars Yoga Zone
I bought this dvd to relieve stress and tone. It's too easy for me but I like Yoga Zone so I am going to buy more of an advanced one from them. If you've ever done pilates or yoga in the gym or before, get an advanced one.

4.0 out of 5 stars 20 minutes a day WILL make a difference!, Feb 20 2006
By A Customer
I've been doing yoga off and on for the past 5 years or so, but had never been able to fully commit to a daily practice - lack of motivation and time were the culprits. But when my stress level reached new heights last summer I decided that I needed to find a way to make yoga part of my daily life and I ordered this video. It consists of two 20-minute workouts - one for the upper body and the other for the lower body - so I alternated everyday. Not only did the 20 minutes a day help me to keep my sanity, but after a couple of months I noticed a SIGNIFICANT improvement in my muscle tone. A nice surprise indeed! So, if you're busy or unmotivated - or both - give this a try. The moves are challenging not the most complex and some modifications are shown so you can adapt your workout as you become stronger. I'm a big fan of the Yoga Zone videos - they're great workouts with clear instructions on how to do the poses properly. My only complaint about the YZ videos is that they almost always use the English translation for the poses instead of the Sanskrit names. But they're still No. 1 in my book!

I did not think the poses were too hard, especially since they give you options in most of them to keep it simple or show you how to make it a little more challenging. I feel sore and well worked out after doing this one (which I'm sure might change when I become a little more advanced)! But as a beginner I think this is a excellend DVD to start with! I will definately be doing more yoga and getting more DVDs!!! =)

5.0 out of 5 stars You Get Out What You Put In, April 8 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Yoga Sculpting - Yoga Zone - D (DVD)
I have been doing yoga on and off for over five years, both with videos and personal instructors. The poses in this video were not particularly challenging to me, but if you really hold the poses and focus on contracting the muscles you're working, you will feel it in the end. I especially liked the arm workout. In the past, I've never felt that much in my arms from yoga, but the day after this workout I did. I think seeing the results from this video depends on how focused you are during the workout. If you're new to yoga, I would give yourself a few times through to just get comfortable with the poses.

I am fairly new to yoga (i tried it out at the gym) and this is the third video I have purchased (I also got basic yoga for dummies and beyond basic yoga for dummies). I tested it out for the first time last night and I am obsessed! I really like this DVD (although i don't have much to compare it too) and can't wait to buy more. I have done the basic yoga for dummies twice and realized that i knew more that i thought which is why i bought this. The first section was a bit difficult because i do not have that much upper body strenght and half way through the table pose my arms were shaking! The first section went by quick (fasted 20 minutes ever!) so I did the second half too. Again -- love it! I thought the second half was easier than the upper body section and after the full 40 mintes i felt wonderful. I definately reccommend this video and the price is unbelievable!

1.0 out of 5 stars boring and not a good work out, Aug 13 2003
By A Customer

This was way too slow and not challenging. I would recommend it for elderly people, or people new to working out in general, not just new to yoga.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Yoga Video, Jun 19 2003
This review is from: Yoga Sculpting - Yoga Zone - D (DVD)
I have been doing yoga for over a year now and this was my first yoga video. It is good for beginners but challenging enough for intermediate level. They have two instructors, one who performs beginning level and one who does more advanced. The more I do this video, the better it gets...I can really focus on the area that we are working on now. It has remained my favorite video.

5.0 out of 5 stars Challenging for advanced beginner to intermediate levels, May 14 2003

This videotape is great for those who are looking for a challenge beyond the beginner level of yoga. I started off with the Yoga Zone 5-pack over a year ago, and while I still love doing those workouts, I was looking for something different that offered a greater degree of difficulty. The poses and movements in the Yoga Sculpting tape are great for increasing strength and flexibility which improves muscle tone, and they are enjoyable to do. Like the 5-pack, the background scenery and music enhance the instruction, and the instructor and aid demonstrate the poses, one easier, one more challenging, so you can adapt to the level that's right for you. Overall, this is a great tape if you want to move beyond the basics.

4.0 out of 5 stars Gets better with age, Feb 17 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Yoga Sculpting - Yoga Zone - D (DVD)
It was around the 3rd viewing that I began to like these workouts. They are challenging--a type of yoga based less on flexibility and breathing, and more on holding tight poses or asanas that will make your muscles tremble!

There are two 20-minute workouts, focusing on the upper and lower body. The host, Jennifer, has a guest instructor for each workout. The guest demos more advanced moves throughout, while Jennifer performs easier variations. This isn't readily apparent, so.....if you need some help getting started, focus more on what Jennifer is doing.

I'm at an intermediate yoga level, and yet find myself doing the easier variations of some poses. This workout is definitely designed to make you stronger! If you have no yoga experience, you may still like the DVD if you are strong and would like an alternative to your weight training workouts.

Why not 5 stars? The host seemed a little scripted and not as personable as I typically like. Otherwise, this DVD is a great addition to the library......and probably unlike most yoga videos out there.

A great DVD. Strenuous but not excruciating. Both segments are do-able consecutively for an intermediate yoga student. I get more out of it the more I do it and havent become bored yet. I like this DVD more than Power Yoga (Beryl Birch). I actually find myself looking foward to practicing.
