5.0 out of 5 stars DVD Sound Quality Better than Live Concert
I was at the Forum in Montreal back in 1981 and saw this concert. I was blown away by the sound quality of the DVD, it was so much better than the live show. I was disappointed by the acoustics at the Forum that night, but was totally impressed with the show Queen put on. 3.0 out of 5 stars Great performance, but really bad renditions of the songs!
My hubby and I were pretty disappointed with this. We know the songs really well and it's liek Freddie forgot how they went. He changed them all so they were only recognizable by the music behind it. He has beer all over the top of his piano so maybe it's cause he was drunk, but it was not good at all. Every song he pretty much ruined. Still love Queen, but the way he did...

5.0 out of 5 stars DVD Sound Quality Better than Live Concert, Nov 19 2007
This review is from: Queen - We Will Rock You: Live In Montreal 1981 (DVD)
I was at the Forum in Montreal back in 1981 and saw this concert. I was blown away by the sound quality of the DVD, it was so much better than the live show. I was disappointed by the acoustics at the Forum that night, but was totally impressed with the show Queen put on. Freddie was on top of his game, and though the DVD doesn't really capture the essence of the concert, musically it's probably one of the best I've seen.

I was actually at this show in Montreal, and they blew the forum apart that night,I remember even Circus magazine even wrote a brief story about this show saying the crowd was so loud that the band couldn't even hear their own monitors.

The DVD is just the way I remember GREAT Enjoy

The quality of the DVD seemed pretty decent. I have nothign to compare it to really besides movies on DVD, but I saw no issues with this recording.

3.0 out of 5 stars Queen Rocks, DVD does not, Mar 11 2004
By
Hevster (Tucson, AZ USA) - See all my reviews
To me Queen was one of the best live bands I have ever seen play live and although the performance here is when they were really rockin' sometimes I just can't get past the poor sound quality - and yes I have the updated DTS version. The songs are great, seing Brian on the piano for Save Me brings back great memories. They really need to release some concerts from the 70's (like Hyde Park and Earl's Court)- that's the REAL Queen, even though I love the Wembley DVD (how about a Knebworth video?)

5.0 out of 5 stars An awesome Queen show!!, Jan 23 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Queen - We Will Rock You: Live In Montreal 1981 (DVD)
We Will Rock You is second only to Wembley as far as Queen DVDs go. The energy and great sound of the first two songs-"WWRY" fast and "Let me Entertain You"- truly set the stage. Freddie is at his best here, I think, but Roger has his moments ("I'm In Love with My Car") and Brian's really rockin' on the heavier songs!! (What about John? Oh yeah he's just the bassist but at least he gets the WWRY solo!) The "Bohemian Rhapsody" light show is great, and the audience reaction to "Tie Your Mother Down" is really awesome. Sure, "Get Down make Love" really sucks (I just don't like the song) and he sings some parts of "Now I'm Here" weird (I like Dragon Attack though), but this concert still rocks!

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed, Sep 13 2003

I thought the sound engineering of this DVD was the worst I ever heard. I tried both DTS and Dolby 5.1, both were totally under-whelming. The separation is poor, even the frequency response is poor. I have cassette tapes that sound better. This is not what I buy music on DVD for. I am very happy with the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, etc. But Queen totally disappointed me.

The THX introduction sound bite was impressive, the DVD was not. Too bad, it seemed like a nice concert, and a good performance by the talent. Bad sound engineering.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved it, you will too, July 20 2003
By
Thomas Bickle (Manteca, CA United States) - See all my reviews
I *love* this DVD. It features Freddie and the gang, rocking and jamming, and is an incredible show. Brian, Roger and John all have terrific set pieces in this video where they strut their stuff, but if you REALLY want to see strutting, get this thing and watch Freddie. Absolutely amazing - from one hit, to the next, to the next, to the next, Freddie sings, dances, prances, poses, strides, flirts, shudders and gives a mezmerizing, marathon performance until the very end, when he has nothing left to give. You can hear his voice finally buckling under the strain in the last song. Thrilling and touching, this performance is a smash!

I enjoy this DVD again and again, and I think you will too. GET IT.

Worth the price alone for the footage of "Love of My Life". Buy this one if you like Queen.

This is the DVD, probably the best live recordings of Queen ever made. Excellent quality with their best songs that just bring you back to the days of glam and stadium rock--almost like being there. Couldn't recommend it more...
