Touching and testing,
This review is from: Rurouni Kenshin 13: Innocence and Experience (DVD)
What can I say about this DVD that hasn't been said already twenty different times? My one major objection is that this is in no way a better battle than that found in Shadow of the Wolf. If you want to know why, read my review about it.

This series with Soujiro is Pure Art work! This series deserves an oscar. I love fight seens in anime but fight seens is not what made this series. The writing, music and camera work combined to make this series with Soujiro forever memorable. The Whole Rurouni Kenshin series is exceptional for an anime series but this one takes special honor. Soujiro's abuse as a child makes you sad for him but it also clearly explains why he is like he is, and this explanation makes all the difference. "If You're Strong You Live" "If You're Weak You Die". The lie that Shishio told him which put him on a path of cold hearted murder. Innocense corrupted; by his step father and his family and by Shishio. The direction of this plight, of the inner struggle is just ART!

A Great DVD,

This dvd was without a doubt one of the best Rurouni Kenshin DVD's for sure. I have watched Rurouni kenshin on Cartoon Network and I have loved it, but lately I've been collecting the DVD's, and this is one of my favorites only behind Shadow of the Wolf and Fire Requiem. I find the DVD's to be a bit pricey if they are only 4 episodes, however, this one is 5, and therefore very worth it. And for anyone who wants to sign a petition asking for the jinchuu arc to be animated, here you go: http://www.petitiononline.com/jinchuu/

I love RK. It's one of the best anime series I've seen. The second season - the Kyoto arc - is the high point of the show. This DVD includes beginning of the climax to that long story arc, the culmination of 25 episodes worth of story and Kenshin's confrontation with Sojiro, who has to be one of the most tragically compelling villains in all of anime. Not to be missed.

I can recall seeing these episodes long, long ago. I could not believe they finally released them in DVD format. I do not want to ruin too much of the episodes, but I will state that Sojiro definitely deserves his place in the Juppongatana. After seeing this battle, I could only wonder at the power and skill of Shishio himself. This disc not only shows the struggle, but it also gives a human side to Sojiro; we are shown why he grew up to be emotionless as well as fast. This is a great appetizer to lead into Fire Requiem... This is the best arc and show I know of.

Out of all of the series... the entire Legend of Kyoto arc... this is the best... most anticipated battle. Soujiro and Kenshin face off... and we find the startling history behind the Tenken and his faster than godlike... feet. It's one of the best set of episodes ever written for Kenshin... more satisfying that the battle with Shishio. I know that if you are into the series already you are going to purchase this DVD and i'm here to tell you that it will be one of your favorites...The last episode will leave you in a little of a hang, so i would suggest purchasing the next DVD along with it, Fire Requiem. This DVD is very good and you will not be disappointed one bit. The best part about it is that Sojiro... the boy Tenken has some surprising news for Shishio after his battle with Kenshin.

"I smiled in the rain...but really, I was...",

With a somewhat unexpected twist, the long battle at the Aoiya ends. Then, the next three episodes are devoted to...Tenken no Soujiro - the strongest member of the Juppongatana, second only to Shishio Makoto himself. A harmless-looking young man who always smiles pleasantly, he is said to have no emotions, which leaves Kenshin at a great disadvantage. The last time that he fought Kenshin, both men's swords were broken in a one-draw contest of Battoujutsu. Now, Kenshin must face Soujiro again in order to get to Shishio and stop him from accomplishing his Kuni Tori. What Kenshin doesn't know is that Soujiro has a technique that he didn't use in their previous battle, Shukuchi, a god-speed even faster than Kenshin's. And when Soujiro begins to act strange during their fight, it becomes apparent that his emotions of anger and sadness were buried deep in his heart on a stormy night long ago - but are finally ready to emerge... In the last episode, the doors to Shishio's private 'arena' are opened and one way or another, the final battle of the Kyoto Arc is about to begin. Don't miss this one.

Despite the fact that the animated version of the popular manga, Rurouni Kenshin, has added events/people that were non-existent in the original, the true beauty of the story still holds together. In the latest DVD installment, we find the exiting battle between Seta-san and Himura-san spread through 3 of these episodes. We see insight in Seta-san's past and how he came into the services of Shishio Makoto. Buy this one!

Soujirou vs Kenshin: Hes gods gift to nature, as they say..,
This review is from: Rurouni Kenshin 13: Innocence and Experience (DVD)
Soujirou Seta, the Tenken. Without emotions, Kenshin's Hiten Mitsurugi predictions are useless. Not only that but after a few attacks, aswell as the useage of Kuzu Ryu Sen, Kenshin finds out a deadly fact that surprises not only him, but Sano and Yumi. Its a deadly truth that tells Kenshin he has a great chance of loosing the fight, aswell as his life. As the battle rages on Kenshin sees restraint in Soujirous attacks, but what is it that is holding him back? What is it that is keeping him from using his full strength? In Episode 55 we journey into Soujirou's tragic and mysterious past and in Episode 56, there is a surprise, and then the final showdown. Shun Ten Satsu no battoujutsu vs Hiten Misturugi Ryu ougi, Amakeru Ryu no Hirameki!
