A Great Performance By The Shaman!!!!
This movie would not be worth watching if it were not for the performance by the Shaman of the tribe, played by Elizabeth Bagaya. It was her performance that really stood out. She brought a feeling of authenticity. If I did not know better I would have thought she really was the Shaman of that tribe. Oh ya, Tanya Roberts was good too in this movie, but did not come...

While on Safari Phillip Ames (Michael Shannon) and Betsy Ames (Nancy Paul) the parents of little Janet Ames (Kathryn Gant) are dispatched. So Janet is raised by a local female shaman and allowed to run around wild (Kirsty Lindsay). Eventually she grows accoutrements and becomes a physic witch. To better fit her persona Janet becomes Sheena (Tanya Roberts.)...

Sheena happy to play with her animal friends that she is in psychic link with; her world is disrupted when the shaman is falsely accused of murdering a prominent leader. Naturally she has to do something about this which lands her squarely in the bull's eye of the real culprits. She enlists the help of a not so ept news man in her endeavor to set things right.
The film is based on the legendary Sheena of comic book fame. And Tanya Roberts can challenge Vanna White for The best looking statue.

I have seen this movie a couple of times in the past 20 years. The first time I saw it back in '85, I actually liked it (THEN) I just bought this movie because it reminded me of something out of my childhood, So after 20 years here are my thoughts now that time has moved on...The acting in the movie is HORRIBLE. The Plot is beyond bad, and I would think offensive to tribes in Africa. However, like some of the other reviewers The Music, and the Sceneary in Kenya is MAGNIFICIENT, (Including Tanya's body, I admit that, and I am gay!!!) Just too bad there is a silly storyline. ONLY if this movie was Tanya Roberts Riding on the back of Zebras NUDE doing a documentary, I really think that would of fared better. This is one movie where I feel it really is a mixed bag.... The movie has some goodies to offer, just do not expect a whole lot.

Silly, But Good Mind Candy, Jui 21 2004
I remember watching this when it first aired on HBO YEARS ago and being strangely facinated by it. Don't expect any A movie acting or plot - it's straigt B movie fare all the way, but fun I'll admit. What gets an A is the heart-achingly beautiful music score at the end of the film. If anyone, ANYONE knows how to obtain a copy of that please post your information here!!!

Great looking DVD, Déc 15 2003
Okay, you don't watch this for a magnificient plot nor review it like you would a epic blockbuster. That said, someone at Columbia Pictures must really love this film because the digital transfer is gorgeous, except for the opening credits (which start a quarter hour into the movie) and closing credits: these scenes have a lot of "dirt" on the print. Other than those, it is a flawless transfer. You get anamorphic widescreen on one side and full screen on the other. Subtitles in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese(!), Korean(!), & Thai(!!),(evidently the film is big in the Far East). The music score is beautiful and far beyond what you'd expect for this kind of movie. Yes, there is a cheesy model helicopter crash and the horse is painted like a zebra; however, a great looking DVD for a "guilty pleasure" movie. Check your brain at the door and enjoy it.

Tanya Roberts and Ted Wass played it to perfection!, Déc 3 2003
This is a beautiful film, a love story that breaks hearts. How many times in a movie do two people fall desperately in love but....well I won't write anything else except that it was the most touching and beautiful ending since "Casablanca". You'll see why. The music and score is very important to me in films and this one is wonderful. The last shot in the film (about 5 minutes long and all one take) is one of the most elegant and graceful exits I've ever viewed. See if you can take your eyes off it. Even though the plot has been filmed to death over and over thoughout the years the director and his cast, in my opinion, really made this film stand out. I just wish Sony, which owns this film would release a dvd with some "real" extras in it. Craig

NO ES UN PELICULON NI MUCHO MENOS PERO A MI ME GUSTA MUCHO, TANTO LA PELICULA COMO LA ACTRIZ, EN MI NIÑEZ ME VOLVIA LOCO Y AÚN AHORA ME SIGUE PARECIENDO UN PRECIOSA ACTRIZ.
HABER CUANDO SACAN ESTA PELÍCULA Y LA DE BEASTMASTER EN REGION 3.LLEVO UN AÑO ESPERANDO.

I always loved this movie...
She is a woman of action, in a beautiful scenario, and with a really great soundtrack
The only problem with this movie is the plot, it doesn't get to you very well.
Tanya Roberts did most of the stunts here...great work.(...)(...)

The Best is Tanya Roberts, Déc 8 2001
I only buy this movie by the presence of the beautiful Roberts,her face and curves and just perfect,the other the scenary of Africa and the wild animals.
I must say that this Dvd version dissapointed me a lot;I thought of great extras but instead there's only film trailers of another movies from the studio and also the sound is in Dolby Surround Stereo instead of 5.1
A good entertainment.

WOW! This movie is so stupit but is Tanya Roberts something else or what. This is a mans pleasure movie mostly, I watch this for Tanya Roberts. Just watching her bounce around on that zebra bareback is fun to watch. Its sexy how she talks to the animals, and I don't even know what the main point is I just watch it for sheena riding in the jungle.

One huge schlock-fest, SHEENA is a cult classic that is right up there with QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE and THE WASP WOMAN.Tanya Roberts (of "Charlie's Angels" fame), plays the vine-swinging heroine, Queen of the Zambuli tribe and communicator with animals (Dr Dolittle's sweetheart). Into her life comes Vic Casey (Ted Wass from "Blossom"), and together they fight to save her land from a cruel ruler and his bitchy girlfriend (who comes to a very satisfying demise). Great return to the old-fashioned Saturday matinee adventure films, and Roberts is in fine form as the scantily-clad Sheena. Based on a 1930's comic strip character, which in turn was made into a 1950's television series. With Elizabeth of Toro and Donovan Scott.
