5.0 out of 5 stars Andrew AKA messiah
I didn't realize how great Andrew WK was until recently. Now I can't realize how any one can miss the fact that he's great. This isn't machorock, which I first thought, this is Ramones for the twentyfirst century. Andrew rules my Universe

versus
3.0 out of 5 stars bloody good.
This really is a half-hour beer commercial. Non-stop screaming, chanting, and just loud rocking. The lyrics are as basic as possible, but fit the music well. It's hard to say who Andrew sounds like, but it's definitely not all the hair-bands people keep mentioning. I actually like this quite a bit, especially when I'm feeling pumped and mindless, and obviously in the mood...

5.0 out of 5 stars Party Rock Fun, April 29 2004
By
HeadbangerDuh (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Get Wet (Audio CD)
The funnest album to be released ever. The music is absolutely fabulous. It is crunching speed guitars with some synths thrown around. Andrew screams like a maniac about parties, fun and girls. He is like the savior of true rock n' roll. he sounds nothing like nu metal despite the release date. The best songs on the album are Party Hard, Got To Do It, Party Till You Puke, and Girls Own Love. But there is no such thing as a bad song on this album. No, sir there is no such thing. Andrew WK shows it is possible to sing about fun and happiness without being a hippie idiot.

5.0 out of 5 stars True Party Metal, April 26 2004
By
Offensive Donkey (Stupidsville, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Get Wet (Audio CD)
The savior of heavy metal! Just when metal was at its darkest, drowned out by horrible nu metal bands like Korn and Limp Bizkit, Andrew arrives on the scene, with ear-damaging, screaming rock n roll. He mixes dance pop with pure screaming metal on this album. I love the synthesizers mixes with Andrew's screaming and thunderous guitars. He shows that it it possible to save a genre from itself, Influncing bands like Jet and the Darkness. he truly is obsessed with partying and fun, which is nice because it can lift you up when your'e sad. The lyrics are happy and peppy, and so is the music. If you love alternative and nu metal, you cannot buy this. if you hate it just as much as I do, BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Greatest CD Ever Recorded, April 16 2004
By
Jack Carter (On a computer! Hows that for original? hahaha) - See all my reviews
This review is from: I Get Wet (Audio CD)
This is my first review and I'm glad I'm able to review such a fantastic CD! Andrew W.K. may not be the most well-known or most-liked artist, but he certainly does know how to party and he does more than show us that in his album I Get Wet.
The Track Listings and a short summary of each:
1.) It's Time to Party: The best song about partying ever! It's fast, it's got a die-hard keyboard part, and it was written about the escalating situation in Iraq. Weird, huh?
2.) Party Hard: Hey, it's THAT song. Yeah, that's party hard. "Let's get a party going, now it's time to party and we'll party hard." Through an insane, inspiring litany of Party Hard-Party Hard, Andrew W.K. shows us that when you party, you're going to party hard.
3.) Girls Own Love: Simply said, a song that starts off a little slow but gets into ass-kick mode at about thirty seconds, and is about how girls can take our hearts and throw them away like a used condom.
4.) Ready to Die: One of the greatest songs on the CD, Ready to Die has a catchy rhythm to it, and also proves the point that when you've lived your life to the fullest, you're Ready to Die.
5.) Take It Off: A song that shows you can take off your phony, macho attitude and just be yourself because if you don't, you'll "get that black eye again." Lol.
6.) I Love NYC: Andrew's small homage to the great city of Manhattan.
7.) She Is Beautiful: (My sister HATES this song but it's the best on the CD). This song summarizes his feelings for a girl by chanting "she is beautiful" in the chorus over and over and saying he "ain't got nothin' to lose" if he asks her out.
8.) Party Til You Puke: Umm...party til you puke? Lol. Good song.
9.) Fun Night: A night of partying is also called a "fun night." You can thank Mr. Wilkes-Krier for that one.
10.) Got To Do It: This song is a little more mature than the rest, as is Track 12. It basically says that you shouldn't stop doing what you love and keep on doing it.
11.) I Get Wet: The Best adrenaline rush in the history of music. He said this on his website (www.awkworld.com) that you will get wet in life, and that's true: you will get wet whether it be from sweat, blood, semen, or girls' lubricant, you will get...wet.
12.) Don't Stop Living in the Red: The most mature song on the CD, you should always live in the red zone of danger and hard parties.
I hope you liked my first review! Check it out for others, too. Later skaters, and PARTY HARD!!

If it's not obvious, "Andrew W.K.'s" plan here is to party, and man does he. This is pretty much a 35 minute beer commercial. Every song is basically loud, fun, and mostly yelling. But as simple as it sounds, there's actually some great songs here. The 3 "Party" songs are highlights, and my favorite by far is "She Is Beautiful". It's almost impossible not to get out the air-guitar for that one. Though this resembles some punk and hair metal, it's really it's own thing. It all rock's just as much as the album cover does.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock is not dead, W.K. proves it single-handedly., Feb 1 2004
This review is from: I Get Wet (Audio CD)
To put it simply: Andrew W.K. rocks. Other people will go into the great detail about pinning him down to one genre is impossible- and that's why W.K. has become the most pure form of rock on the planet today. More on this later...

This album is fresh, non-stop fun- and it's almost devoid of explicit lyrics at the same time. The album starts off with a frantic pace unheard of since the days of hair metal bands and Metallica's glory days, and it never lets up. Another reviewer captured it best with a comparison to Twisted Sister. This is absolute rock, with no other intent but to get people up and moving. The sheer levels of "party" in the lyrics border on comical, but WK brings so much energy that you're forced to take it seriously. If you've been looking for that one album to get you through your work day, or that one album to work out to, or that one album to make up for all the non-rock of recent times, you've found the crown jewel for your collection.

Recent times have produced the phrase "rock is dead"- and WK finally tells us why. For too many listeners, Rock is a genre classified by a certain type of guitar or a certain style of singing. WK distills so many genres of music (metal guitars, bubblegum lyrics, techno and classic keyboarding...) down to one art form full of frantic playing and belting out monster lyrics. If you see his live shows, you'll see a man sing so hard that you'll wonder how he manages to finish the night. He gives every song 100%, and saves absolutely nothing even for the second half of the show. WK is rock in its purest form, just as Elvis was rock in his own time. He blows away all stereotypes, he gives every song 100%- and has an almost visionary perspective on music.

Buy this album, buy his next album ("The Wolf"), and go to his live shows. If you've ever valued party music or metal or rock at all, you'll love this man and his work- I cannot reccomend this album highly enough.
