5.0 out of 5 stars Another rare Disney animated movie
This is a rare Disney animated movie without violence. This movie deserves a G rating, then a lot of there animated movies. While the Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996) had both lanuage and violence, this had one of either, and zero scary scenes. This movie reunties most of the characters from the first movie, and has some new characters like Zephyr and Madelliane and...

3.0 out of 5 stars The First One is Better
Whoever said Quasimodo was ugly deserves to have a burning spear thrust through their skull and their arms and legs nailed to bricks. "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" teaches that superficiality never pays, and that a loving heart is much more important than looks, but what's the point if people are too shallow to understand?

The first movie was outstanding, and this one isn't as good, but it's still entertaining. It's much more kid-oriented than the first. Rent it first.

This movie is as bad (or worse) than everyone has said. the animation is shoddy, and the storyline is boring. If you are looking for a good cartoon... look elsewhere. You'd be throwing your money away on this one.

I thought this was a very good story, but the story wasn't as good as the first. There was no action or adventure, only romance.(A lot of kids will flinch at the mushy parts).I was glad with the happy ending, though. I was dissapointed with this movie a little. None the special features are good! If you want to buy it, buy it on VHS, there is no point of getting it on DVD. Save your money!!

1.0 out of 5 stars The Hunchback is Failing........, Aug 5 2003

This sequal is disaponting and terribly made. The animation was shocking and the plot, stupid and childish. Deffinetly not what was expected.

Harsh as I may sound, it is the truth and the truth hurts.

1.0 out of 5 stars You call this a sequal?, May 24 2003

The story line is stupid. Quasi falls in love with a girl who only feels sorry for him. The girl plans to help steal a jeweled bell. The story is filled with so many badly sung songs that it sounds like a bad musical from hades. The animation is so aweful that I could not recognize some of the characters until they said their names. The gargoyles aren't as funny and they don't have the same voices. It looks like it took about two hours to make the entire movie because the drawings and the songs were so bad.

While the Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996) had both lanuage and violence, this had one of either, and zero scary scenes. This movie reunties most of the characters from the first movie, and has some new characters like Zephyr and Madelliane and Sarousch. The archdeacon makes a breif appearnce in the movie. Quasimodo's evil master is not back, and which whould be good news if you hated him in the first movie. Clopin also returns in the movie with Esmeralda, Pheobus, Laverne, Hugo, Victor, and Quasimodo. As the movie opens, Emseralada (Demi Moore) and Pheobus (Kevin Kline) are maried, and they have a son named Zephyr (Haley Joel Osment). With leaves Quaismodo (Tom Hulce) without a girl he lives to shout her name while the bell Le Fieilde rins during a festival. That is into an evil circus ringmaster named Sarousch (Micheael McKean) sends Madelliane (Jennifer Love Hewitt) to gfet informationm on the bell, so he can steal the bell. The cast also includes Quasimodo' best friends Hugo (Jason Alexander), Victor (Charles Kimbrough) and Laverne (Jane Withers).

2.0 out of 5 stars Not so inspiring, Feb 22 2003
By
SpongeBob SquarePants (an average, ordinary place) - See all my reviews
Again and again, Disney has bombarded unsuspecting viewers with sequals (an unwise choice), which often lack the wonder and majesty of the originals. This one, the sequal to the original "The Hunchback of Notre Dame", is like the other sequals, failing to capture the spirit of the original. Characters are reintroduced, and a parade of new characers come. And what's new, there's romance in this sequal, the love between Quazimodo, the lovable bellringer of Notre Dame, and Madelline (Jennifer Love Hewitt), the lonely servent of a greedy master. Like many of Disney's sequals, this one lacks what the originals had.

This is supposed to be a movie, so why does the animation resemble those found in TV shows? Sure, it's brighter, but the graphics found in theater films are far superior to this sequal's (clone's) effortless animation. The scenery found in the original "Hunchback" was more beautiful and lush. The characters lack fresh life, that little boy, Zephyr, is just too kiddie, and the actors and actresses are plain unrealistic. The score was okay and songs weren't as heart-warming as the original. For you to be moved, listen to the original's songs combined with choirs and beautiful voices.

The original is way superior to this clone. This was probably made to please over protective parents who were horrified by who dark the original was, not to continue the adventures of Quazimodo. "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" was inspiring, heartwarming, and will drive you to both tears and joy. You will be touched by its power and glory, and your soul will fly like an eagel. But as for this clone, it did a mediocre job. The main problem with this film is that is released on DVD and video, not in theaters, which tells us that Disney today cares for money, not our entertainment. At least, this could've been a TV miniseries. Overall, this is Notre Damned.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a Pleasant Surprise!, Jan 5 2003
By A Customer
No it's not the Original. Sequels (animated and not) are seldom as good as the original. But there is a sweet quality to this one...from dh & my perspective and that of my 4yo daughter. She understood this movie...she provides a running commentary throughout. The songs are very nice. Tom Hulce and Jennifer Love Hewitt compliment each other in song and voice. The moral? Always look inside a person to see who they really are...the outside is not always true. It's also a struggle of being ready to love. Quasi fears the thought of finding someone who will accept him. He is not ready. Sometimes love comes when and where you least expect it. And considering all the other "lessons" that bombard our kids today, I will stand by Hunchback II.
