I just rented this game from [local store] because i love the GT40 by ford (which is the coolest car ever) but anyways, i put it in my PS2 turn the power on and everything. It goes through the intro and stuff then it gets to the loading game pong. You know pretty cool you get to play pong for like 30 seconds.(so i thought) YOU END UP PLAYING PONG FOR TEN MINUTES![.] so i played and then i went to story mode or whatever, goes to the loading screen i am there for 10 minutes and still IT DOESNT COME ON![.] So i said forget this game [is bad][!]trust me if you are even thinking about this game my advice is rent it look at the loading time then make your decision. TRUST ME!

Rubberband AI and Pong. Yeehah!!,

That's all you need to know about "Test Drive", rubberband AI and Pong. Those are the only two things the game developers put any thought into and it just kills what possibly could've been a fun game. It's been said before and I'm gonna say it again in my review. The load times for this game are outrageous. Really awful. They're so bad that you are given the chance to play Pong while you wait. Sure...it's fun for about three games but then the next couple hundred times are boring. You just want the game to load up already. The load times would be tolerable if the game was worth the wait...which it's not! I don't know who first developed the whole rubberband AI concept but I have spent the better part of the last decade cursing them. Could someone please explain to me what the point of getting good at a game is if it makes no difference whatsoever? Why should I get to know the tracks and improve my powerslides if I don't have to? You could let your cat play this game up until there's about 30 seconds left before the end of the track. Then you just pick up the controller from your precious little Snowball and zoom past your opponents. How silly. The inability to fall far behind the computer racers makes this game a great title for kids and people who don't ever play racing games. They'll be proud of themselves for always being in every race. That's cool for them but a grave disappointment to those of us who want something that provides a challenge. Poor graphics and repetitive gameplay make this a game most of you should skip, unless it's dirt cheap in a bargain bin somewhere.

The game is fun but the playing gets boring after a while. If you don't get the checkpoint you lose. Need for speed is much better.

- After playing Test Drive 5 and 6, i didnt expect much from this game. However, the graphics have changed A LOT! Thank heavens for that, since part 5 and 6 had some of the worst graphics in gaming history. The realisme of the game wasent to impressive, and the "story" mode wasent such a huge knockout. The game is overall a good arcade game for thosse of you who find Gran Turismo frustating and hard. For us others who are looking for realisme, we'll just have to wait for Gran Turismo 4. The game is NOT bad tough, but it could have been a lot better. The selection of cars and tracks are very limited when you first start, and except the paintjob, it aint nothing else you can do with the car except racing it. The tracks are beatifull, and the graphics are very to live with. Much of the music is awesome, and some of it are VERY headaching. I would recomment to buy the game. Its fun, and with the two player mode its even more fun. The tracks can be very hard due to the lamo high traffic.

First of all, the load time is terrible...Lets get that out of the way.The car physics are bad....i mean "REAL BAD". Have you ever hit another car and sent it flying 40 feet in the air..BACKWARD with no damage to your car?? The Only fun factor is weaving through traffic. The controls are not responsive and attempting a power slide at a hairpin turn almost always results in disaster.(This is coming from a racing game fanatic)Decent graphics and a GREAT selection of muscle cars fail to save this game from condemnation. DONT' BUY THESE GAMES:Midnight Club Test Drive Tokyo Extreme Racer Try these instead: RalliSport Challenge World Rally Championship III NFS:Hot Pursuit 2 & Colin MCrae rally

Strait off, this is one of the best games i have played for PS2. Each car handles differntly, the courses are super realistic, and I couldn't stop playing it! So what if you don't take damage when hitting other cars at 200 mph? It's great to weave in between cars in a classic Shelby Cobra, then race your friends in a sproty big brother, the Shelby Series 1. Take a Viper for a spin. The Cop Chase mode is the best idea ever! Hmm. All this talk of Test Drive. I have to go play.

Very poor physics and play control,
This review is from: Test Drive (Video Game)
While the graphic and sound for test drive are stimulating at first, the end result of playing this game for several hours is boredom and frustration. The physics for car inertial forces, interactivity with other drivers, and lack of creativity overall combined with extremely long load times made playing it a waste of my time and certainly my money. If one was to spend endless hours playing the thing Im sure you can get pretty good at it, regardless of the ...control. I have played hundreds of games and in the old days of NES you just accepted ... control and liked it if the game had good graphics. Today we should be able to expect both. And whats up with the load times, a little more effort or possibly talent could have easily cut these in half--or does Rockstar games have a corner on the creativity and talent. Maybe so. Im going to sell it and buy something else.

This game is awsome! There are muscle cars and sports cars to choose from! The music could be better, but still. The races are very intense and the graphics rock! What I don't like about this game is the police. They are so IRRITATING!! When I get busted, I awlays spin out and face the wrond way. Overall, it's a great game!

Me, being a huge Gran Turismo Fan, wanted to try something new. The Story is ok, not too bad. Graphics wise its a better than most. Some things I would like to point out though, the game doesnt focus much on realism in my opinion. So if you just want to have fun this is for you

This game is great!!! The graphics are great and the cars are the best ever for Test Drive. I have owned and played every Test Drive made and this is the best one to date. If you are looking for a great, exciting, and accelerating racing game this is the one for you. Two player mode is also just as great as being by yourself in story mode. I think they should have made the game a little harder though. I am 15 years old and beat the game in a weekend. Very much fun though. Enjoy!
