Twisted proposal,
By
This review is from: Indecent Proposal (VHS Tape)
Really sick relationship, but here comes director Adrian Lyne again with another weird relationship movie, so what can you expect? A couple who really need money (Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson) agree to the sicko offer by wealthy Robert Redford to loan Demi to him for a while for a flat million bucks. The marriage falls to tatters, of course, but it's not Redford's fault. The success of the film turns on the director's ability to draw viewers in with a titillating tease and turn the experience into a provocative and thoughtful exploration of what makes a couple agree to such a thing. Interesting movie with a great cast.

This is without a doubt one of the most romantic films I have ever seen. It reigns supreme in my collection. This film is not about money - far from it, it is about being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I think initially John Gage felt that Diana would have been a pushover and blinded by all his billions but she was no easy feat which he soon understood with serious consequences. I am sure both John & Diana were secretly asking themselves why they didn't meet sooner. Havent we all found ourselves in that position at some point in our lives. The way John seduced Diana was amazing. Did anyone see the way he held her eyes at the Craps table, or when they went to his house or what about when he was on the boat with her. He was amazingly funny and at other times deadly serious and that's what was so touching. I think deep down Diana really fancied John but found it difficult to cope with the guilt of leaving her husband. Let's face it, he was no competition for John. Robert Redford has always been one of my favourite actors. He has the ability to take on various roles which unfortunately a lot of today's actors can't do. As for him offering $1 million dollars to sleep with him, I would have given him change out of a dollar !!!!!!!!!!!!

Now let's be realistic here. This film is kind of unbelievable but to tell you the truth, it is a film that is very original and classy. I remember when it first came out in the movies and the trailer and billboards were everywhere. With Sade's "No Ordinary Love" playing in the background, this filmed looked like a future Oscar nominated film. The film was very intriguing to me despite the fact i was 12 years old back then when the film was released. I never got to see it at the movies but i did buy it on VHS when it came out on video. I was blown away by the script, plot and actors. The film must have been the best film I had ever seen (mind you, i was 12). Still today, i think it is still a very good film. It'll be classic to me and it'll be considered the most vicious film about money, love and power that was ever made. I recommend it to everyone who likes romantic films.

Demi Moore and Woody Harrelson play a couple in a sudden bind financially. When trying to strike it rich in Las Vegas fails, enter Redford character to the rescue. When Redford proposes them the answer to their problems the end result could spell disastorous. Though the movie never actually shows Moore and Redford sealing the deal, it kinda makes you wonder if it really did happen. One really powerful scene in Indecent Proposal is when Harrelson is having second thoughts and wanting to canel the deal tries looking for Moore realizing that they are already leaving via helecopter on the roof of the building he is frantically trying look for her.

A Masterpiece in Understanding.,

What if...? The two words that define almost everyone's life. What if I married so & so instead...What if that job was mine...What if there was a perfect life...? And on & on. Relationships, marriage, in particular, young relationships and marriage are plagued with the question, or the "two words." Indecent Proposal is a masterpiece. An exploration, if you will, into the power of money, trust, love, respect, and above all...What if? The movie casts three of the best stars of their time, Robert Redford, Woody Harrelson, and Demi Moore at the top of their game. It brings us inside the marriage of Diana and David, but also, into the world of wealth, power & deceit. Still, it also sends a shiver to see Redford's character as not being flat, but lonely. His motives, proposal, and pursuit may irritate us, yet we come to understand Mr. Gage and sort of feel sorry for him. As we root for Diana & David to reclaim that lost innocence of love, which in reality & in the movie as well, is unrecoverable, we find a new meaning in forgiveness, faith, and the pitfalls that plague even the best parts of ourselves. This one belongs in your collection and your heart.

Demi and Woody are married, but they're poor. They meet Robert Redford, and he's REALLY rich. He takes a fancy to Demi, and since he's a gambling man he makes the couple an "indecent proposal:" one million dollars for a night with the little woman. And at this point you need watch no more of the film because you can put the details together in your sleep. Of course Demi is going to accept the offer. If she doesn't there's no first half of the movie. Of course it will affect Demi and Woody's marriage. If it doesn't there's no second half of the movie. And of course everything will turn out okay by the time the credits roll. If it doesn't, there's no happy ending. The absolute best thing you can say about INDECENT PROPOSAL is that Demi Moore looks good in a black dress. As for the rest... The script is incompetent, the direction amateurish, the performances negligable. I suspect Redford, Moore, and Harrelson blush and change the subject every time the film is mentioned. Do them--and more importantly yourself--a favor. Unless some one offers you a million... Miss It!

NO STARS! Very bad movie....absolutely indecent !!!!,

The idea of a man giving into a million dollar offer to allow his wife a one nighter, with the proposing businessman, is absolutely indecent! This is the core of the story. Because of the married couple's financial woes, the husband feels that the money will save them and is more important than what's really at stake....the union and honor between the two! The film ends with the couple emotionally drained and, subsequently, divorcing (this is no surprise)! This film is a waste of time and is degrading....avoid this movie, indefinitely! It sends out a very immoral message to viewers.
