Just like the movie......THE BEST!,

This review is from: Resident Evil: Music from and Inspired by the Original Motion Picture (Audio CD)
This is for all the Resident Evil fans out there. Great songs by all the artists on here. I just cant stand #13...its rap and Im more for the metal on this cd. This is the most awesome cd except for all the Slipknot and Marilyn Manson cds. But hey, Marilyn Manson and Slipknot are on here so I get a taste of the two best. I love the four original score songs by Marilyn Manson...its basically just musical compositions with no words but they are still good to listen too. that says a lot because i dont really like songs with no words. If you like the movie or the game or are like my cousin and i, totally crazy about anything Resident Evil, then buy this cd. You wont regret it! "You're all going to die down here...."---Red Queen

... it was quite disappointing to find that it is censored. The image shown on Amazon contains the Parental Advisory logo, but when the disc arrived in my mailbox, I found there to be no logo. Quite unfortunately, the disc itself is censored, with blank periods where lyrics should be. It hurts the experience. The ablum starts off slow with a middling remix of Slipknot's My Plague followed by a remix of Marilyn Manson's Fight Song that pales in comparison to the original. Thankfully, it picks up from there. Aside from the initial impressions, the disc remains very enjoyable with the inclusion of rare tracks Anything but This by Static-X and Halleluja by Rammstein. Not to mention the four tracks devoted to Marilyn Manson's excellent musical score. In the end, the censorship was merely a dissapointment and, had I known of it beforehand, I would want to buy the disc anyway. According to Wikipedia, the only uncensored version is the European one, but, since the censorship only strongly affects a small number of remix songs and not the whole album, I definitely got the songs I wanted.

I thought that this was a pretty good soundtrack. Naturally, you aren't going to like every song off of a movie soundtrack. My favorites are Adema, Ill Nino, and The Crystal Method. I hate the song by Method Man and I despise Slipknot, so there were some songs I didn't like. In fact, I disliked about half the songs. But, as I said, you shouldn't expect to like every song on a soundtrack. All in all, it isn't bad, but it isn't great. I'd say it's pretty good, especially if you just want to take a few of the songs off of it.

Great metal compilation, but a bit of a stretch . . .,

I've not actually seen the Resident Evil movie, but if it's anything like the games, I'm willing to bet it has zombies. Meaning that the Manson tracks are perfect for the CD. However, some of the best songs on the CD--such as "Halleluja" by Rammstein or "What Comes Around" by Ill Nino--seem a bit of a stretch. "Halleluja," for example, has nothing to do with the undead, death, dying, or anything like that--it's about . . . well, it's certainly not about evil boogie men, I'll just leave it at that. Kind of feels like a bunch of record execs just threw some metal together and called it good. A good album, but it probably doesn't reflect the movie.

I thought this album was great, all the tracks are good, particularly mansons tracks at the end. But, like with practically every soundtrack, there are tracks on the film that didnt appear on the album. What happened to Marco Beltramis part of the score? Junkie XL also supplied some music along with an exellent Spine Shank song:'cyanide 2600' and the remix of Nine Inch Nails' 'wish'. I would have much prefered if they had used every track in the film and made it kind of like the 'lock Stock' or 'Snatch' albums, where the songs are mixed with excerts from the film. They should have done that and then added a couple of extra tracks like the Static X track and Rammsteins one. Instead, they just used Mansons tracks (which are exellent, very atmospheric mixed with meaty drums and grinding guitar sounds) and plonked other tracks with them to make just another metal compilation. When you see the name 'Resident Evil', you expect something scary. All this said though, it is a good album none the less.

I think this Movie soundtrack is just great. I listened to it alot and really love those Marilyn Manson songs on it. All the other remixes sound awesome. If you enjoy techno/metal and all that good stuff I really recommand this album(!!)(if my english is bad, please hate me)

I bought this for a few items, Rammstein in particular. I was also told it was a good gothic CD - NOT. It's a metal CD mostly, with a few other bits thrown in. I liked the other bits more, but even they were not all that. Marilyn is not Industrial and certainly not Goth. That's all right, MM has done some good work and I don't dislike Metal. It just didn't have the dark feel I was expecting. I also have to agree with other reviewers who said the CD doesn't have the flow and power the soundtrack had during the movie. It seems kind of watered down. Somewhere along the way some record company exec and marketing folks in khakis got involved and took out all the stuff that scared them. Hmmm, Evil that isn't scary? What's the point?

I've been a fan of Resident Evil since it came out and have play all the games except on game cube (i'm working on those)but after seeing the movie I had to buy the sound track. The only problem with it is that it's the edited verson, maybe i'm to picky but does an unedited verson exessed, I haven't seen one yet.

Way better than most soundtracks, this actually puts out some suitable music, rather than just hard tracks from nu metal popular bands. I still dislike Slipknot, but their mix of FIGHT SONG is brilliant.M.Manson composed one of the great, unrelenting industrial horror scores ever for this film, it's a shame Paul Anderson can't direct to save his life, that the script was disinteresting, and there was no horror. One of the worst films I've ever seen, actually. |
