Danny Michel has got to be one of the best artists I have in my collection. He sits up there with the artists that are quite mainstream, and most of the time beats them soundwise.

If you want a great album full of really unique songs and ideas, I highly recommend In the Belly of a Whale.

Like the previous review stated, go buy it. You will not be disappointed.

No one who has ever seen Danny perform, either in a solo show, or with a full all-star band, has ever walked away with any doubt about the fact that he is not only one of the premier song-writers in North America, but also that he is The top performer in the province.

A lot of that energy comes through in some of the songs on this album, and the amazing breadth of his song-writing skill is evident. The album goes from bittersweet pop power to creepy tongue-in-cheek caper tunes populated with characters that seem to have escaped from a Tom Waits song.

Buy it. You won't regret it.

Do yourself a favour and check out Danny Michel's most recent release, IN THE BELLY OF A WHALE. In fact, while you're at it, pick up his previous albums, FIBSVILLE and CLEAR.

These are brilliant recordings that combine Michel's witty lyrics with eclectic musicianship. He draws upon influences as varied as Bowie, Waits, and Costello.

Those who have seen Danny Michel live can attest to his charisma and creative stage tricks.
