If the movie was bilingual, I would like it for sure... This is existing in french on DVD???

Nice message and well done. Gets the point across with out using big names ( at the time ! ).

If you love the corny but terrific 1980's, you'll love this movie. In my opinion, the TEEN MOVIE OF ALL TEEN MOVIES... tHE CLOTHES ARE A RIOT, but ther than that this movie has a terrific point, Cools, Nerds...who cares! Ronald Miller rides into the most popular girl in school's heart on a lawnmower. From there its all sorts of fun for the move watcher! I love this move and was soooo pleased it was released on DVD. No special features, bummer. Terrific film though. Be sure to get it!

Patrick Dempsey plays nerdy Ronnie Miller, who is so on the outside of society at his high school that he is known simply as "Lawn Boy" because he mows everyone's lawn for his part-time job. He wants to be popular for his upcoming senior year, and he sees his chance when cheerleader Cindy Mancini is in a jam, having ruined her mother's suede outfit at a party and needing $1000 to replace it.

Ronnie happens to be at the mall at the same time, purchasing a new telescope with his lawn-mowing money when he sees Cindy's dilemma. He offers to pay for the new outfit if she will pretend to be his girlfriend for a month and introduce him to the popular circle.

Although this seems completely crazy to Cindy, she does it (after a great little makeover -- quite the staple of 1980s teen movies!) She even starts to like Ronnie as a person, until popularity goes to his head.

People are lemmings and will believe whatever they are told, particularly in the classic scene where Ronnie starts doing the "African Anteater Dance" which he saw on a show he mistook for 'American Bandstand'. Everyone at the school dance follows him instantly.

Don't miss a very young Seth Green as Ronnie's annoying brother! He is great as a smarmy kid!

THIS MOVIE IS ONE OF THE GREATEST TEEN MOVIE'S EVER MADE. I just saw a preview the other day for a movie thats about to be released.. i think its called "Love Dont Cost A Thing" - and its a total rip off !!!! of Can't Buy me Love, just shows how their is no originality these days, they sample the hell out of music, now movies !!

I ordered this video Nov. 30th and was told that it would be delivered by Dec 22nd (which was long enough to wait). On Dec22nd I checked the status of my order again, and now it says it will be delivered after Dec 24th. Four weeks to wait for a video? This is ridiculous.

I first this movie in the theatres when i was child back in the 1980's. This film is about Ronald Miller, a regular guy from Arizona who mows lawns and goes to High school. One lawn in particular belongs to Cindy Mancini, the most popular girl in town,who does not even acknowledge Ronald's existence. Well, Cindy goes to a party wearing an expensive outfit that her mother forbade her to wear when she asked her. One of the jocks gets careless with his red wine and throws it right onto Mancini's outfit. Now, Cindy is in trouble when she can't get the stains out or a replacement dress. Then, Ronald offers to pay for the dress if she goes out with him because he is certain that it will instantly make him the most popular guy in school and he is right. But,when Ronald makes friends with the jocks his somewhat dorky ex-friends resent his ignoring them and Ronald eventually is pressured into throwing crap at his best friend's house on Halloween. Then the best part of the movie comes, Ronald realizes that they were all friends when they were younger and gives a GREAT speech when one of the jocks get angry that a dork is tutoring one of the hot cheerleader chicks. The jock says "this guy is pulling a Ronald Miller" and Ronald smashes a bat and admits that he changed as a person when he became popular. After that, nobody thinks that Ronald is a Dork for what he did anymore and begin to feel his pain. He is back to being same old Ronald, who Cindy falls for because she see's him for who he is.
THIS MOVIE IS GREAT. A TRUE TEEN CHARMER

Nice social message wrapped up in hip clothes, cool music, adorable female lead, nerdy hero, and morality tale. But the crux of the flick is about learning to accept yourself, to stand tall for what you believe to be true, AND above all, to recognize when you have what you need. If our hero had realized he should be satisfied when our cute female lead was dating him, well... there would have been no movie. but, he would not have taken such a fall... and not learned such important personal lessons.

Another movie attacking class structure and cliques, but, hey, if it weren't the sad state of affairs, would we flock to see this stuff? No. So, if the shoe fits...

See the movie again. Worth it the second time around.

I've been checking and checking and checking, hoping that the people at Disney would release a widescreen version of this great 80s film. However, it still has not materialized. The logic apparently is that "family" films should be released in fullscreen. However, Disney must surely realize that a large percentage of true film fans and collectors will refuse to purchase a pan and scan title. Because there has not been a new widescreen edition, I refuse to purchase this chopped release.

Whoever went to high school will relate to this movie....especially if you did so in the 80's! This movie was true to life back then and it's certainly still true to life now. How far would you go to popular? Well, this movie definetly shows how far some people would!! It's funny, heart warming, and of course it ends as most 80's movies did....with the guy getting the girl!!
