4.0 out of 5 stars Prettty Decent....
Ozzy is better with Sabbath (get "The Last Supper"). Still has to use a teleprompter for his words, but, whatever.

Zak Wylde is what makes this DVD.. HOWEVER... His infuriating spitting is gross. Why oh why must he clear his mucous and cover the floor and everyone else with his bacteria infested spittle!!?(Yes, everyone has some bacteria in their mouths, do...

3.0 out of 5 stars Heavy Metal Karaoke
The title says it all here. Ozzy just looks directly in to the teleprompter through most of the show. It's hard to see his eyes because of the mess of hair and eye liner, but he just stands in one spot most of the time. If you saw any of the Osbourne shows you will remember his shuffle around which is just sad. That being said, the band is very good especially Mike Borden...

Ozzy is better with Sabbath (get "The Last Supper"). Still has to use a teleprompter for his words, but, whatever.

Zak Wylde is what makes this DVD.. HOWEVER... His infuriating spitting is gross. Why oh why must he clear his mucous and cover the floor and everyone else with his bacteria infested spittle!!?(Yes, everyone has some bacteria in their mouths, do your research). Drink some water or suck on a tic tac for Gods sake Zak!! If you can avoid seeing his spitting, you will be rewarded with seeing and hearing his effortless, but aggressive guitar playing on my favorite axe, the Gibson Les Paul.

Its interesting to see Robert Trujillo on bass, as he is now with Metallica.

The Japanese audience is a little out of their league here (no offence) and it is a bit surreal to watch them respond to heavy metal.

Ozzy standards played here. If you like Bark at the Moon, Crazy Train, No More Tears etc you will be pleased with their treatment here.

If you saw any of the Osbourne shows you will remember his shuffle around which is just sad. That being said, the band is very good especially Mike Borden who plays like an animal through the whole concert and never lets up. The other comments here are right about Zakk Wylde and the guitar squeals every 30 seconds which gets very annoying. However the bad rocks very hard throughout which more than makes up for Ozzy showing his age.

The band is tight and Ozzy's vocals are still great. The concert footage is very good. For a Zakk Wylde freak like me, the cameras do an awesome job of capturing the fretwork. I really enjoy this DVD. I just wish Ozzy wouldn't cuss so much! This is waaaaay better than Live and Loud, which I was very disappointed in. The sound on Live and Loud is awesome, but you're watching a video, not a concert. I'm glad I only spent $6 on Live and Loud...

4.0 out of 5 stars Great concert by the Godfather of Metal, May 1 2004

This is a great concert that Ozzy did in Japan. He and the band plays very well, the cameras just show Ozzy and the not any overused crowd footage like they did in Live And Loud. However, the song selection was not exactly great. They should have done some stuff from the Ultimate Sin and No Rest For The Wicked, two of Ozzy's best albums. That is what keeps this from being a five star concert. It's all very good though.

4.0 out of 5 stars What should spect as well, Dec 6 2003

Lets go straigth to the point..... even when sounds is good, I found the scenery quite cheap and simple. I agree that Ozzy has the same nice voice or even better maybe and Zakk showed me that it was posible for a person to play Bark at the moon "live" It{s amazing, but always there is a but, I think I would appreciate more the concert if during edition of the DVD, they would cut the spitting views of Zakk. To be honest that views of him spitting all over and on any direction are very discusting. Not to mention the close up of him spitting on "Mama Im coming home" one of my favorites songs.
But anyway, after all is quite good the concert.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suicide Is Slow?, Sep 24 2003
This review is from: Ozzy Osbourne - Live At Budokan (DVD)
This is absolut fantastic DVD! Much better than Live & Loud. The band can been seen very good. The track are strongly permormed! Absolut beautiful Ozzy Osbourne live concert! This whole DVD is a highlight but if I say something.

At first the track list:
I don't know
That I Never Had
Believer
Ju*kie
Mr. Crowley
Gets Me Through
Suicide Solution/ Zakk's solo
No More Tears
I Don't Want to Change the World
Road to Nowhere
Crazy Train
Mama, I'm Coming Home
Bark at the Moon
Paranoid

The best moments are defintely Suicide solution with Zakk's solo. This is the best guitar solo I've ever heard! In fact, mostly I hope they would end or I just don't listen them at all. But this...I think it's even too short. He's a real guitarist with big G! If you don't like guitar solos, try this one. If you don't like it, you probably don't like hard rock solos at all!

The new track "That I Never Had" and "Gets Me Through" are powerfully performed but "Ju*kie" should have had more power!

There's very much old tracks: The first album's "Suicide", "I Don't Know", "Crazy Train", and "Crowley" are very good, especially the beginning of the "Crowley". There's very good keyboarding! "Believer" and "Bark at the Moon" are better than ever! Ozzy has become a real real big superstar in rock world! Did anyone have a doubt of that thing...?

"No More Tears" has also four tracks: "No More Tears", "I Don't Want..." are very good but also ballads "Road to" and "Mama, I'm Coming..." are very good played and sung.

Finally, we all know "Paranoid", the Black Sabbath song that Ozzy almost always has as the last track in the live sets...

Japanese audience is very good! They sing together with Ozzy! They are very excited! This is one of the best audiences ever! Like Ozzy says all the time: "You are number one!". He's probably right!

There's also a biography and discography on DVD but in the discography...there's no "The Ultimate Sin" album at all! Why???
Biography is pretty good. There's all the main things about Ozzy. It's surprisingly large.

There's also the Osbounes in Japan, quite good one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ozzy + Zakk = Metal, Aug 18 2003

this DVD blew me away. amazing performances from the whole band, but of course, Zakk kicks it up notches unknown. its pretty obvious that Ozzy overdubbed the vocals in post-production, but thats OK (he's Ozzy!) still an amazing concert. i only wish they put War Pigs on here instead of Paranoid. (you get a glimps of the band running through WPs in the extras.) bottom line, if you like Ozzy (his music, not his ubiquitous marketing image and tired old reality series), then you'll love this DVD.

4.0 out of 5 stars The East meets CRAZY West ~!!!!, Aug 14 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Ozzy Osbourne - Live At Budokan (DVD)
I just saw this DVD for the first time. It was very interesting to see for me, being a Japanese who grew up in America more than half of my life. Let me say this, Ozzy and his band is so sweet, kind, and patient with Japanese audience. Japanese audience are just being Japanese. To behave well in public, and not to make fool out of your self. You can see how much of a difference in culture between the East (intellectual) and the West (emotional). To Japanese people Rock concert is a place to go "see", and to 'listen". To Western people Rock concert is a place to join with the band, and express themselves without feeing embarrassed, or be self conscious. Also, it would have really helped if Japanese people understood ENGLISH! They had no idea What Ozzy was saying! Almost as if Ozzy was too overwhelming for Oriental/Japanese culture, I know people over there love Ozzy, and admire his music, talent and performance in every way.

Budokkan (Martial Arts Hall) was never meant for rock concert exhibition until The Beatles broke that rule!, and it has became "Rock 'n Roll Hall" ever since then. and the name of the Hall has became quite well known place. We have quite few good Western Ozzy concert films. So, it was nice to see him "visit" this Rock 'n Roll Hall of East anyways. The quality of this film is very good. The sound is superior, and view is fantastic. Only I wish Zakk would quit spitting on the stage so much! I feel sorry for whoever had to clean it up after! (being very Japanese here). If you like ozzy, why don't you have it all !!!? I would also recommend CD of this version. May be better that way for Western audience.
