What can I say this is my all time fav Pc game. I loved the 2d versions of it better then the 3d. makes the game more enjoyable to me. But all in all and amazing series and no other pc game will come close to it. Spent many of hours playing the original and tycoon 2, although they are very similar games, I love how number 2 gave you the option to be more creative and challenge yourself. One thing about number 2 was that most of the coasters came from six flag parks where as there are so many other parks with better coasters, would have been nice for some variety there, I have an xbox and an endless supply of games for it but I would rather spend my time playing this series. Thank you guys for still have this game to purchase and I will deff be passing this game down thru the family as the years go on. thanks again.

Product is awesome! It was delivered fast and works perfect. Would definitly recommend this game to anyone who wants to buy it. Its basically an extension of RCT 1, but a lot better with more rides and attractions and tons more parks!

3.0 out of 5 stars Hmm..., July 14 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 (CD-ROM)
While the game remains the same, I can't help being annoyed with it. Reasons include that the guests have actually stupified. *The Major Bug* is -- and did anyone else notice? -- When a tired guest paces back and fourth, soon about a million tired guests are and there's nothing stopping them from exiting they just randomly cram in one spot. Another bug is the random Error Trapper. Save your game FREQUENTLY, every ten minutes. I usually make about five different files for a given scenario and overrwrite them every few minuters because the super-annoying Error Trapper simply pops-up and exits the game, and nothing will be saved.

The problem with RCT 2 is, in a nutshell, lack of development. Not much has changed - graphics, rides, shops - it's all fairly the same.

Another flaw is the parks aren't realistic. Most parks have decor for the holidays-- Halloween, Xmas, etc. but RCT 2 supplies no decor for holidays. There's also no "real" shows like parades or stage shows. Just the 3-D Cinema, which is probably dinkier than it looks!

The premade scenarios are fairly difficult even in the Beginner tab (Crazy Castle is just impossible. you always run out of money, even if you just build a simple coaster). The Expert ones are IMPOSSIBLE on all levels. They simply cannot be beaten. The objectives try and make you get $500,000.00 park value, and are darn near impossible.

The Six Flags things are believe it or not a major FLAW. Who would want to build inside an already-filled park?

I guess the scenario problems don't really matter, because realistically, you can build countless scenarios with the Scenario Editor.

The game's much more fun with a "Trainer" programme. Yes, that's cheating but it makes the game easier, but not too easy. I'm not even a beginner, I've had the game (well RCT 1) since two years. But still, the Roller Coaster Building is fairly difficult. How is it that a Six Flags park , and you can see yourself, can have rides with like 10 inversions and still have tolerable nausea ratings for the guests? One thing that ticks me is the Extreme Heights scenario. Enter and you'll see Flaming Fury. It has a lot of speed and flips and yet it's still Only High, Very High, High in ratings! Grrrhh!

The game runs fairly slow on any computer. It has a "LOADING..." prompt for any loading/saving, entering a game, scenario editor, rollercoaster builder, etc. thing you try to enter which really annoys me to the point of explosion! The game is slow even on super-high-end computers.

The game continues to be unrealistic. First of all, no park in the world has a coaster called "Flying Turns". Second of all, why do they crash so easily? I think the game's too harsh when it comes to the Roller Coasters deal.

So I guess worth the buy but most fans will not like it, in my opinion. Newcomers will love it, cause they won't see the primativeness!

2.0 out of 5 stars UMm...try again, July 14 2004

This review is from: Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 (CD-ROM)
The best part of this game was actually the joy I got when I booted it up. Five minutes later, the novely wore off. True, the game is just like RCT 1, with almost no difference --- sure, new parks, Six Flags, new scenery, and a scenery demolisher, but it looks & feels & plays just like RCT 1. You may also find it useful to know that the scenarios are much harder now and seem unrealistic to beat.

In my opinion the game was great but really they change vehicles to a coaster and call it a "new" ride. In reality, to be technical, there's only a handful of truly new rides in this game. The basics are still there.

The Six Flags parks were a mistake. Who wants to tinker with them and anyway they are already full.

Another thing I hate is the numbered ride-naming that it does automatically. They should generate random but relevant names for each ride, different each time you build!

Another hurdle is that guests are pretty stupid still and they have the same limited collection of thought process. They also need about fifty bathrooms in only an average-sized park to be happy, and about a hundred (!!) food & drinks suppliers. Trust me, I know.

The game's much better with a trainer. But it really should be an expansion to RCT 1 than actually be called #2.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost like an expansion of the original, July 13 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 (CD-ROM)
RCT 2 is basically the original RCT with more rides to build and different parks. The visual and audio aspects of the games are exactly the same, and if one did not know any better, one could mistake RCT 2 as an expansion of RCT 1. Even though RCT 2 doesn't really bring anything new to the table, it is still a great game and I recomend it.

After you play Roller Coaster Tycoon, advacne your skills with Roller Coaster Tycoon 2. This game is so much better than the first game. You can do things so much better with the options they've provided in the second game. This game brings out the true of building your own amusement park. I can't wait to play Roller Coaster Tycoon 3, in that game you get to ride the rides you'd built.....lol. That should be fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad But A Challenge, July 5 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 (CD-ROM)
When I started to play this game I did realize that it wasn't too different from the first one. Other than the new rides and the choice of more ones to build, you still couldn't ride the ones you built. There are much better footpaths, entertainers, scenery, and rides. They took the old rides and mixed them with the new ideas. There is a lot more food and sovenier shops. As you play your money supply does go down. In a matter of two minutes you could go from $10,000 to $8,792. Overall it takes some getting used to if you owned the first game, but it is a giant step up from it. And anybody who says it is worse than the first one is wrong, it is just a challenge!

5.0 out of 5 stars Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 is the best!, July 2 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 (CD-ROM)
I have been a Roller Coaster Tycoon addict since the first one came out. I have all the games and all the extension packs. This game is so awesome! I can play it for hours at a time and not get bored. There's so much to do and so many possibilities for rides and scenarios and scenery. The only bad thing is that they don't have good graphics and you can't ride your rides. But that will be resolved when Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 comes out later this year. This game and all the Roller Coaster Tycoon games are worth buying. A++++++
