5.0 out of 5 stars The Greatest game of all time? ...
I am one of the first people to review this game after playing it. This game is sweet. Let me list just a few things that you can do and things that there are.
Songs:
Cutting Crew: I just died in your arms tonight
Twisted Sister: I wanna rock(my personal favorite)
Michael Jackson: Billie Jean
A Flock of Seagulls: I ran(so far away)
Run DMC:...

I have rated this game 1 star because I want this review to be read amidst the other one star reviews. In all honesty I enjoyed this game but I wanted this review to be posted with the one star crowd (remember this is not a review on the game but a statement in its defense about the violent and sexual content it contains). If you do not like a game that is one thing but...

Songs:

Twisted Sister: I wanna rock(my personal favorite)
Michael Jackson: Billie Jean
A Flock of Seagulls: I ran(so far away)
Run DMC: Rock Box
Kool and the Gang: Summer Madness
Oh did I mention Lazlow is back hosting Vrock.
So is Fernando, the man who will save you marrage, hosting emotion 98.3
Different buildings that you can enter are malls, clubs ... , resteraunts, and bars.
The different kinds of motorcycles/2 wheeled transportation are fagios/mopeds, angels and freeways/harleys, sanchezs/dirtbikes, and my favorite PCJ 500s, racing motorcycles.
Another cool feature is that there are dirt tracks for the dirtbikes that have check points for missions. The arena also has a cool dirtbike track with loops, buses, cars, and other cool objects.
The Arena has other things like blood ring destruction derby and Hot Ring stockcar racing.
Sadly I have to inform you there is no 80s eight ball but I personally like this guy better. His name is Lance Vance, he tags along with you on some missions.
I don't think I gave the plot yet but here it is. Your Tommy Vercetti(voiced by Ray Liotta) ... and money have been stolen. Now your boss, Sonny Forelli, needs you to get it back and if you don't he'll [hurt] ya.
There are more than 100 missions(upgrade from 73 in GTA3) and over 120 cars(upgrade from 40 in GTA3). Also there are now 40 guns(upgrade from 15 in GTA3).
The different cities/places, not islands, are Little Haiti, The Beaches, Ocena Drive, Little Havana, Starfish Island, Downtown, and Vice City.
My favorite 2 features which I have neglected to mention that you can dive out of cars, motorcycles, helicopters, and other vehicles and you buy your own hideouts, you can own as many as you can afford.
Over all this game tops GTA3 by its graphics enhancement and all of its great new features. This is now my favorite game I own(GTA3 being my old one)and is worth 10 times its price ...

I have rated this game 1 star because I want this review to be read amidst the other one star reviews. In all honesty I enjoyed this game but I wanted this review to be posted with the one star crowd (remember this is not a review on the game but a statement in its defense about the violent and sexual content it contains). If you do not like a game that is one thing but to bash it on its content and exaggerate is another. Where in this game can you rape women? The women were all clothed (even in the Pole Position; I played this game thoroughly and extensively). Sure you can pick up prostitutes and by the money disappearing from your bank it alludes to sex but that⤙s about racy as you are going to get in that category. What about violence towards women? How about millions of other things detested by these reviewers? Are they right should the government take this off the shelves and should parents be ultra vigilante with keeping this game from their children⤙s hands? Obviously these reviewers missed the point about the game. The point is simple: real life. The game allows you to choose between a ⤽moral⤠and ⤽unmoral⤠lifestyle (granted ⤽unmoral⤠is not fun). So if you harbor aggression towards women this game might bring it out. Though the game is not aggressive towards women or any other group it is a direct reflection of who is playing it. Also by getting their aggression out in a video game instead of real life the game might help curb violence. Everyone knows that bottling things inside is the worst possible thing for psychological health so this game might be good therapy. I highly doubt that a pacifist will come out from playing this game a serial killer. So that being said I hope people can weigh different sides of the argument for this game. I hope some parent reads this before making a hasty decision from the mere thoughtless is immature reviews posted by countless others. Besides most of the people have exaggerated the true content of this game making it out far worse than it really is. Also by taking this game off shelves Americans are forfeiting their rights of freedom of speech no matter what their messages are. (Please note I am not a company man)

Grand theft auto is for evryone! Everyone who says its "To violent" well you know what , there has only been 1 killing from people playing it! Back to the game. The reason I love gta is because it has a little of everything. Im very eager to get my hands on the new grand theft auto: san andreas its really going to be a huge hit! And all you "Halo 2" losers should just trash there "xbox" and grab a ps2 with the gta trilogy. Vice city is a big step from gta 3. So if you like driving , free roaming and moter biking grab gta vice city.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST GAME EVER, July 19 2004

this is by far the best game i have ever played. This game is a must buy!!!in this game there is so much to to do. the city is so big and u can do just about everything u can do in a real city. this game is GTA 3 with everything improved. if u thought that nothing could beat GTA 3 then u were wrong. They have come out with the perfect sequel, with more weapons, more cars and a bigger location than the # 3. They have improved on the graphics so everything looks realistic. Although very violent this game is a must have. so if u have a PS2 then i highly recoomend this game. In this game there are fun missions and u can buy property. You can even buy your ow mansion. You can fly helicopters and 1 of them even has a gun on it. this game is really fun so go out and buy it. its is worth all the money u spend on it! If u rarely buy games and u have enough money to buy one then get this one it is a blast and u wont be able to put it down and u wont get bored so it wil last u forever. Have fun!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Game That Started A Million Protests, July 15 2004

This review is from: Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (Video Game)
(refers to XBox version, despite being under the PS2 heading)

I love GTA: Vice City. The difficulty is perfect, the graphics are amazing, the stroryline is great, the cars are great, the music sucks (no one's really listening tough!!!) and all around the game kicks major ass.

You play a criminal sent to Vice City by his old boss as he returns from another mission. You work with your lawyer who gives you missions to accomplish and leads you to other areas in the game, as you recieve cash and complete more missions.

You are accompanied by your partner, the humble but untrusting Lance. As you meet new characters, you get more missions you must accomplish and the story evolves into a twisty-turny action-packed ride.

The soundtrack, though cheesy, makes a great way of making you feel you are in the 1980s, with the most memorable in rock, rap, new wave, and pop from the area. There is also an option to import your own soundtracks into the game. However, in my opinion, the best part of the radio option is the hilarious talk radio and advertisement parodies.

The weapons selection is amazing. It veries from guns to other objects, like the screwdriver and the ever-popular chainsaw. The vehicle options are great, letting you drive everything from cop cars to ice cream trucks. With these vehicles you can acomplish mini-missions to get more money or recieve different options in the game.

With endly variety, GTA: Vice City is a perfect game for the fans of every game genre. Definately a classic!

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible, July 11 2004
This review is from: Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (Video Game)
After Grand Theft Auto III came out in late 2001, i figured they would never make a better game. Than Grand Theft Auto Vice City came out. It has all the good elements of GTA 3, but with more well rounded characters and a better developed plot in a larger, more diverse city. THe game has an excellent replay value and almost never gets old cuz there is always something new to do, from going on killing sprees to exploring the scenery or even playing the missions over again. This game will probably go down with classics such as Super Mario Brothers and Zelda.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Awesome Stylish Video Game. Must Play, July 8 2004
By
John Charet (Des Plaines IL. USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (Video Game)
Now based on my reviews, you will read that I hated the movie Scarface, on which this game is based on, well the reason I love
this game is for it is a video game, video games are not meant to have a plot, they are just known for to playing and have the
good guy survive from the bad guys. You see in video games, all
you pay attention for is the missions and let me tell you they are just awesome, they can be shoot the bad guys missions or car
chase missions which are all flawless throughout. Now it is set
in the 1980's, but I did not pay attention to that part in the
game, I payed attention to whatever mission I had to follow which was neat. THe radio stations that I listened to were those public radio stations like VCPR public radio which is hosted by Maurice (This is not a game show, sorry for the upbeat opening) Chavez, which has the world's most weirdest guests that you laugh hysterically. The music radio stations were okay, but I really hated the stations that played
pop music, I hate pop music. I did love the music stations that
played heavy metal music. The actors that voiced the characters will sound familiar to you for they are the ones, who have been in movies with this type of style before, they are: Ray Liotta
(Goodfellas) as Tommy Verscetti, the main character, Michael Madsen, (Reservoir Dogs) to name just a few of many who lend
their voice talent. The funniest character is Rosenberg (who
closely resembles Sean Penn's cocaine snorting lawyer character
in Carlito's Way), he makes these remarks that are in one word hillarious.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's still relative..., July 7 2004
By
g10tto "Chris" (Kingston Springs, TN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (Video Game)
Alrighty people, what you have here is a gem among PS2 games. It's got the detail, the setting, and hey, even those spiffy new wave tunes you can't get out of your head. The thing is, like just about every other thought-out game in the world, this one's enjoyment is relative to the skill and dedication to themes. Sound like an English paper from the 5th grade? Let me elaborate.

For one, this game can be pretty frustrating if you're not used to playing games for quite awhile. I guess that's relative too, but the point is: if you don't have the dexterity of thumb and the wits that this game demands, then chances are you won't get too far, you'll get frustrated, and finally drop it. It's the simple fact that this specific game isn't about minigames or driving around. There are cab and ambulance missions, but that won't get you farther in the game to some of the unlockables, thus defeating the purpose of buying it to finish. So all in all, it gets pretty difficult and it may seem like the game is against you. But if you can bear it and be patient, you can just get good enough practice to beat the game.

Now, putting all that schmuck aside, this game is still one of the best games you'll want to be looking for. Detail, lighting, sound effects, and just the overall interactivity of Vice City come together into a humongous experience to drool over. You MUST buy this game!
