4.0 out of 5 stars awesome, April 13 2005
This review is from: Out of the Vein (Audio CD)
third eye blind is one of my top 3 fav bands. Out of the Vein was a pretty good solid album and had some great hits. "Crystal Baller" is an amazing song.
Something lacked in this album though, it was still VERY good, but my favorite 3eb album is "Blue", than their first one. This one falls in third. But none the less, its still great.

PICK UP ALL OF THEM! =-D

5.0 out of 5 stars Great come back, July 16 2004

After hearing blue, i was very disappointed... i thought third eye blind had lost it, but after out of the vein was finally released, i changed my mind and i believe that third eye blind are unbelievably talented. their lyrics are poetic and magical, very deep and thoughtful. Theres always a meaning behind each song, unlike most bands today. The greatest song i think are Forget myself, blinded, faster, track 6 but i cant remember its name, - Hit and run i think - can't get away and misfits. Its definately worth every penny, its a great listen and never gets boring.

4.0 out of 5 stars Warning, this CD does not play well with others., Jun 1 2004

As many others before me have described, this CD sounds bland, and nothing seems to stand-out as a large radio hit - the first listen through. Because of the amazing ST, and the cult Blue, this CD has high expectations to fans. This is not to say that the first listen is a bad experience, but those without the patience to listen to it a few times and start to understand the lyrics, well, they will be missing out on one of the most lyrically powerful, emotion elicting, guitar pounding, burst-out-singing anthmic albums of the year.

Some of you may not enjoy this album, but none of these people have EVER turned this album up to full volume while driving down the road alone. This album is my stand-alone favorite of the year, and it would be the ONLY CD I listen to all year if I didn't want to save my enjoyment of it for years to come.

Cliff Notes: Warning, this CD does not play well with others, and may drive your friends crazy from its exclusive home in your CD player for 5 months.

As a side-note, I believe that more songs are attributed to the singer's movie-star breakup than is warranted. For instance, some people attribute the opener "Faster" to Charlize, but it sounds more like his relationship with his current girlfriend Vanessa Carlton. "Forget Myself", "Good Man", and "Can't Get Away" are the trio of break-up songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a very solid, underappreciated album, May 20 2004

I was really skeptical after Blue, which just wasn't cohesive. Out of the Vein is solid, flows nicely, and just about every song is a winner. Typical Third Eye Blind - meloncholy lyrics and catchy melodies, but even fuller and more well rounded than their self titled album. Once this goes into my cd player, it stays there for weeks at a time. It's been in heavy rotation since it's release, and I'm still not tired of it. It's not anything terribly innovative, but it is very strong, and one of the most solid albums I own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Welcome Back with a bang, May 6 2004

If you are a fan of the first two Third Eye Blind albums, then most certainly this album is a must have. It's upbeat yet morose songs hail to the roots of 3eb songs like "Jumper" and "Motorcycle Drive By". However this album has it's own things to offer. This is apparent in the first single, "Blinded", which in my opinion is a fantastic and highly moving song, lamenting about a past relationship and the pain of seeing a lost love. Move on to "Forget Myself", a catchy upbeat song; through the anthems "Danger" and "Crystal Baller", the latter of which demonstrates the classic Third Eye Blind sound which garnered them such popularity. Towards the end are the ballads "Can't Get Away" and "Wake For Young Souls", both lyrically and rythmically emotional and your basic "tear-jerker". The end of the album, I must admit, I did not listen to very much, however some may find that the finale "Good Man" is one of the most intricate songs on the album. This album holds significant emotional importance to me, and it is filled with motivational and spirited tunes. Well worth the purchase price, and highly recommended. I wrote this at 1 am and im tired and i cant remember what i am typing

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Surprise, April 25 2004
This review is from: Out of the Vein Ltd ed. (Audio CD)
Still studiofied, but a great return to 3eb's roots. I love this cd. it is emotional, but in a different way than the other cds. this seems to deal mostly with stephen jenkin's life and youth. a great cd, and the extra-dvd is a awesome bonus.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bought it for "Blinded", April 20 2004

I've stopped downloading and started buying; the unfortunate side effect of that is sometimes you'll get a CD that is really only worth the one song you bought it for. Blinded is a great song; which unfortunately outshines the rest of the songs on this CD. Some of the others are pretty good, but the CD as a whole was disapointing. "Blue" is a much better CD as a whole.

This CD just hasn't grown on me like the Stroke 9 CDs and the Coldplay CDs I bought with it. If I had to do it all over again I would still get it because it IS entertaining and 'pretty good'... but it wouldn't be my first choice. Hope that helped.

4.0 out of 5 stars If you liked the non-singles, you will like this album ALOT!, April 17 2004

This is really good album, but it doesn't have a song or songs like the other two past albums that were radio friendly. You can basically put this on that fact that Kevin isn't in the band anymore and he basically made the songs catchy. So what you get in this album is a lot of songs that are songs that were just written by the lead singer Stephan. If you liked those on the past albums then you are going to like this album.

As far as just the tempo of the album it follows that past two albums to a T. It starts out fairly fast about mid way you get a mellow song then it picks up again then slows down for the end.On an individual song for song note, there really isn't a song that stands out. This album has to be listen together, it's greater than the sum of it's parts.
