40 Minutes Total,
By Rebecca Johnson "The Rebecca Review" (Washington State) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Crunch:Pick Your Spot Pilates (DVD)
The beauty of the Pilates DVD workouts is that you can workout for 10-40 minutes or pick any section or sequence. I recommend doing the entire 40 minutes. This workout goes by so quickly. For some reason, time seems to fly by extra fast. I could not believe how fast each section went by. There are four 10 minute workouts on this DVD, not just three. There is a Bonus 10-Minutes Total Body Pilates Workout which finally includes moves like the teaser and roll-ups which are essentials. 10 minutes Belly I like that this is 40 minutes, but I wish they would have included a longer warm-up and cool-down section. This routine needs some stretching moves at the end. I guess that is not the focus but I felt like I wanted to do stretching at the end. The frog move was interesting and I've not see this in other videos. There is a nice flow to most of the movements although if you are used to doing the "side series" all at once, it is broken up between the Butt and Thigh workouts. There is an exercise at the end of the challenge section that you can do more easily if you have a couch behind you for support. I discovered that today! I've never been able to do one of the exercises and finally did it today!! I would not recommend this DVD for anyone with lower back problems. The exercises are done much faster than in Winsor Pilates or even Pilates on the Go. There is a great advantage in having a wide variety of workouts because then you can modify some of the exercises to suit your individual needs. Like, her version of the bicycle was much faster than I'm used to, so I just did my own thing and did less. If you are new to Pilates, I'd recommend the Winsor Pilates and Pilates on the Go before you start this DVD because they don't really cover all the basics. A fun edition to your routine as Ellen has some variations to regular Pilates moves you might enjoy. Pilates-based exercises.

stick to it!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Crunch:Pick Your Spot Pilates (DVD)
I chose this dvd on a whim when I started jogging and doing weights and wanted to add some more interesting ab excercises to my routine. The first few weeks doing 'Crunch' were definetely a challenge- the ab workout especially- but I was determined to stick to the routines and slowly found myself becoming stronger and more coordinated. The exercises are well explained and easy to follow along with-and Ellen, the host, is easy to listen to. There's very little chance for muscle stiffness since many excercises involve both stretching and strengthening components. One bonus-when the 'pick your spot' segments are no longer enough-try the total body challenge-and feel 'challenged' all over again.

I got this video in a $5.00 bin somewhere and I bought it because i wanted to try Pilates for the first time. I really liked this dvd! Then I lost it and tore my house apart when I wanted to work out again... So I went out and got some other Pilates video.... NOTHING compared to this workout. It is easy but you can really feel the results. I can see people who work out all the time not feeling challenged enough though... So I am buying this dvd now from Amazon because I can't find it anywhere else. I think it's great for people who don't have alot of time to spend working out.

Ellen Barrett Does it Again,
By Zepherine "zepherine" (Vancouver, British Columbia Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Crunch:Pick Your Spot Pilates (DVD)
Whenever I purchase a Crunch workout DVD, I know I am getting a good product of high quality. This video is no exception. In addition, it is lead by one of my favourite fitness host: Ellen Barrett. Ellen is fun and animated (but not annoyingly so), provides great instructions (including modifications for people who want a less challenging workout), and she just seems intelligent so that you believe whatever advice she provides (I have seen too many exercise videos where the IQ of the host seemed smaller than her waist circumference).Ad advertized on the cover, this workout consist of 10-minute-ish pilates workouts, one focusing on the abs, one of butt, one on thighs. This was my first introduction to pilates and it is now one of my favourite forms of exercise. I even convinced my mother, who rarely exercises because she abhors it, to do it with me once and she loved it. The exercises are not super challenging (you hardly feel as though you are working out during the workout), but the next day, you feel the results. ...and not in a bad way. There is no pain. Just a general sense of well being, increased strength, and improved posture. This video is a great introduction to pilates. I'm glad I found it!

This workout is not very challenging. I was disappointed with it. I also purchased some Jillian Michaels workouts and they were awesome.

I had originally had this on VCR, but liked it so much that I re-bought it in DVD just recently. This is a good beginner workout, I like to do this when I don't feel like doing a heavy workout. It is only 30 min. (10 min. each)abs, butt and thighs. So you can do all at once or whatever you like. They are all floor exercises. It is effective, when I do it I do notice my body tightening up. Would recommend.

I've never done Pilates before but have done Yoga, ballet, bellydancing, aerobics, cycling, running...well you get the idea. I like to do different activities so it doesn't get so "routine". I decided to check out Pilates and picked this up because I had a coupon for it. I thoroughly enjoyed this workout. The instructor explained the moves and she was easy to follow. I will definitely be incorporating this DVD along with her other Pilates DVD (Fat Burning Pilates) into my routine.

I have just recently started Pilates. I read a lot of reviews of MANY Pilates DVDs that are sold at Amazon.com. I bought this one because of the reviews, and I would like to say that the reviews are correct! As a beginner, I found this very easy to follow along. I did not think that anyone was annoying (ie Denise Austin) or talked too much. After the workout (I did all 3 segments at once), I felt really good. I am actually lookig forward to doing this DVD again, which is more than I can say about other exercise videos/DVDs I have purchased. I would recommend this DVD to anyone interested in Pilates.

I love this work out ..... I never stuck to a diet or excercise but this i do!! It is 100% worth your money.... You dont have to do the thigh section or butt section or ab section... YOU PICK!!! I do the ab section and i have done it 2 days in a row took a break one day and did it today and already feel the difference. Do not expect a difference if you dont follow the breathing its major...... I am a huge fan of this and am considering buying more of the collection!

Short but effective,

Out of the 20 or so tapes & dvds I have this is one of my favorites because it is only 30 min. but gives you a good workout. It is a bit challenging to a beginner but excellent for an intermediate. Not long enough for the advanced. The exercises follow each other rapidly without a lot of explanation. The music is rather bland and I always put on my own music. I feel there is not enough stretching at the end and add a couple of extra minutes afterward. Excellent for busy moms who are reasonably fit.
