5.0 out of 5 stars The most relaxing yoga practice, very beneficial!, July 8 2004
By A Customer
I have been doing yoga on and off for almost 30 years. I started with Lilias yoga and you as a young gymnastic student and found the practices very relaxing. Now, as I get older I have returned to yoga for its healing benefits. When I am stressed with a problem or worry, or just sore and stiff from computing this is the workout I most often turn to. And yes, like others have stated, many times I too have fallen asleep at the end. I have suffered with chronic fatigue and insomia for the last 8 years so this is a wonder and a great thing. If you want a vigorous exercise look elsewhere. If you want to reshape your bad posture and get pain relief, look no further. I have had many professional massages and none have ever given me the overall benefits and a feeling of relief like the yoga practice I enjoy from this tape. I have many other yoga tapes and dvds but I always return to this one. Others are too rushed through the poses. Here you always breathe through until the stress diminishes.

Easy to follow and truly a stress releaser - just as the title indicates. A mere three sessions and I can feel my posture improving. The gentle start by sitting cross-legged has also eased the pain I had been experiencing in my left leg. Highly recommend this for beginners and intermediate yoga enthusiasts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Actually releases stress, Jun 18 2004
This review is from: Conditioning & Stress Release (DVD)
Yoga Zone Conditioning & Stress Release delivers what it promises. By focusing on major stress points in the body such as the neck, shoulders, wrists, pelvic area, and back, this video is the answer to my hectic days. I actually look forward to doing these exercises at the end of a long day, because it helps me relax and unwind. I do not blame the previous reviewer for actually falling asleep at the end of the session - it's that effective. And I would have to credit Alan Finger for his soothing voice and encouraging manner of instructing yoga students. While he gives out the instructions, his two senior yoga instructors perform the poses, with one doing the modified postures for those who are less flexible. Two thumbs up for this video.

I'm warning you--don't do this video in the morning when you get up, because you'll want to go right back to sleep again.

It's very relaxing. Most of the video is just stretches, but there are also some of conditioning poses which are strenuous physcially, so your muscles will feel tired when you're done. It's a nice feeling.

This video is labeled "beginners" and it that's appropriate because it is a very easy video. There are no props required and none of the moves require very much skill. In addition, the instructor's explanations are very detailed and easy to understand.

This would be a great starter's tape for someone who has never tried yoga before.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great relaxation video, Nov 7 2003

This video is great if you want to do Yoga but don't want a real intense work out. It is good if you would like a nice workout and a chance to unwind. This video really helps to relax after a stressful day. Al Finger does a great job in explaining the poses and how they help to relax you. As well there are two other Yogis to follow depending on your skill level. I would recommend this video for any one who is new to Yoga to help develop a appreaciation for the relaxation qualities that Yoga can bring.

4.0 out of 5 stars conditioned and relaxed after all, Oct 26 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Conditioning & Stress Release (DVD)
When I watched the video through, and the first times I actually used it, I thought it was boring. Alan finger talks a lot, theres a lot of time between poses and the setting is very low key (not al all hip, just a studio). So I only did it ocassionaly or used the final relaxation after using a tape like MTV yoga. But after a couple of months I started to see it's benefits and used it more and more. I use it when I want to work on my technique in the yoga poses, when I have a sore or stiff back or neck, or when I am too tired for strenious exercise. The final relaxtion is awesome and I feel very relaxed after completing the tape. When I want a powerful workout I use other tapes. But really, with this tape you are actually doing quite a lot, only at a slow pace (so it's certainly not cardio, but it does strengthen your body). It's also a really good tape for yoga beginners to learn the poses, connecting the breath to the movements § relax/ stretch every part of your body.

5.0 out of 5 stars It works., Oct 21 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Conditioning & Stress Release (DVD)
This was my introduction to yoga. Though I'd much perfer to take regular classes, to insure I'm learning the poses absolutely correctly, this DVD is easy and CERTAINLY relaxes me. - I've even FALLEN ASLEEP during the end/last excersize a number of times because it has relaxed me so.

I'm not the most flexible person so some of the poses don't get done to their fullest, but that is ok. The instructer says so. :-) He has a pleasant voice and gently walks you through each pose. (There are also 2 women who perform the poses so you get a good visual of how).

If I had more self dicipline, I'd do the yoga work out on this DVD every night. I feel so much better when I do and the relaxed feeling not only helps me sleep at night, but carries over into the following day. I highly recommend this DVD and hope to check out others in this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for getting back into the "swing" of yoga..., Oct 20 2003
By
This review is from: Conditioning & Stress Release (DVD)
I've "dabbled" in yoga several times over the last 10 years or so and have thoroughly enjoyed it, but have most recently been focusing on cardio/strength training. Having lost most of the weight I've wanted to, I started looking for alternative exercise forms to help maintain the weight loss (and maintain my interest in exercise).

This video is definitely a great beginner or "starting-again" yoga workout. Finger's voice is soothing and instructive without being chatty and the fact that he instructs while having two other people demonstrate is a great format (one girl does the more intense variations and the other the more basic moves). The only negative is that it is just a tad too short (you don't want it to end) overall and the relaxation portion at the end is too long. I definitely recommend this video, however!

I bought this tape because I had so much tension in my back and neck. My overall sense of well being really improved. I moved and lost the tape so I searched online to buy it. It's that good!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic introduction to Yoga!, May 6 2003
This review is from: Conditioning & Stress Release (DVD)
This is the first Yoga home video I purchased, and it remains one of my favorites. The instructor, Alan Finger, has the most soothing voice and gives such clear, concise instruction. I also like that he is not too "new-agey" in his language and focuses mostly on the straightforward physical benefits of this program, rather than the effects on your psyche. I appreciate how the 2 assistants demonstrate the poses for both beginner and more advanced viewers. The conditioning portion of the video is not particularly strenuous so if you are looking for a Power Yoga workout, this tape is not for you. This program is a light workout and an amazing tension release. I particularly love to do this video after a long, stressful day. Wash your face and brush your teeth before you start this video because if you're like me, you will fall asleep or close to it by the end of this wonderful video!
