Easy for EVERYONE,

This review is from: Yoga Zone: Beginners Boxed Set (VHS Tape)
I had never attempted yoga because the poses looked so intimidating. How could I ever get myself into those positions? But, I tried this series of tapes and found that "perfection" was not the key - only stretching as far as YOU can go. The instructor is wonderful with explanation and encouragement. I love doing these tapes and love how I feel afterwards. It has also helped my chiropractic treatments by strengthening the muscles surrounding the spine....helping the adjustments last longer. My husband and I do these tapes together frequently...often before going to bed. They are relaxing and give us both a better nights sleep. We are both in our 40's and do not do any other form of regular exercise. If you are interested in yoga, this set is wonderful. I just sent a set to my best friend and her husband for them to try!

I had only done yoga a few times before and a friend had Yoga Zone videos that I had tried. I recently got reinterested in yoga and I have really benefitted from this DVD set. I particularly like the Yoga for Stress Release and Meditation disks. Good description of poses and emphasis on doing poses correctly. Pace is calm and emphasis on breathing/calming the mind and body. Great for stress relief and increasing your flexibility. I would highly recommend this set.

I am a beginner in yoga, and I did enjoy the "Introduction to Yoga" tape. Personaly, I did not like what few psuedoscientific comments made by Master Alan Finger. I also could not find "Meditation" tape to be worth a while. The "Conditioning and Stress Release" tape and the "Flexibility and Tone" tape have many redundant instructions from "Instruction to Yoga". Again, I am being subjective as I review this tape collection. If you are just begining yoga, and just want something to start with, my suggestion is to get only the "Introduction to Yoga" tape.

One of the DVD's if defective and the distributor, Koch Entertainment is a pain to deal with about getting a replacement.

I own MANY yoga videos, and I have to say that this boxed set is one of my favorites. Alan Finger is a great instructor. His voice is calming and he gives lots of instructions. You will find that the first 2 or 3 minutes (explaination and prep) is the same for all the tapes, but that's not really an issue. The poses are simple enough for a beginner, but I have found that with time and as my comfort level increased, I'm able to "advance" the poses myself. I would truely recommend this set to anyone. I also enjoy Candlelight Yoga with Sara Ivanhoe. Another wonderful instructor. Even though my yoga tape collection is probably about 50, I always return to these tapes, because I find them so relaxing and enjoyable to do. I actually look forward to doing them every evening Enjoy!

I never thought I could bring myself to try yoga, let alone enjoy it. But this set of DVD's presents the exercises in an unpretentious and encouraging manner. I am approaching my 58th birthday, and am more than a little overweight, and also pretty unflexible. Yet after about three weeks of using the introduction, the stress relieving-conditioning and meditation programs, I find myself looking forward to my exercise time. I feel much more limber, my energy level is higher, and the sense of wellbeing that comes at the end of each workout is unbeatable. The connection between the physical and spiritual benefits of the exercises becomes immediately apparent, and Alan Finger's soft-spoken and often gently humorous instruction is challenging and comforting in the most positive manner. I would urge anyone who wants to feel better on many levels to try this. Although some of the stretches were difficult for me at first, as I continue to use the program, I find that my level of performance is improving, and the workout becomes that much more rewarding and satisfying as I am able to do a bit more each time. So don't be put off if, at first, some moves are too difficult. Keep with it and it will be worth the effort. A definite 5 star item.

I started using this set of tapes about 2 years ago. At first I was very sporadic, but have recently started doing a tape 3-4 days a week. These tapes are wonderful for beginners. I've tried other yoga tapes and have been unable to keep up and to understand the directions. I am nowhere near the capability shown on the tapes, but am able to keep up. I hope to continue using this set for years as one of these days, I may actually be able to do all the exercises just as the yoga experts do! You do have to set aside an hour for each tape and that was the hard part for me at first. However, like other habits you just have to keep doing it.

... Buyer beware! I have had a problem loading the "Flexibility and Tone" DVD since I first received the boxed set. The other three worked just fine and are great for learning to practice yoga, but that one video just hasn't been working for me. I even ordered that particular DVD again from another online retailer and I got the same result - the DVD just does not work. I'm not sure if I'm the only one that has had this problem, but I believe the defect is a manufacturer's error. Amazon.com refused to issue me a refund. So if you purchase the set, hope to receive four fully functioning DVDs, otherwise you might end up with only a 3-video boxed set (for the price of 4) - like me.

I really like the way the Yoga Zone is laid out. The instructor is very good and I can swear he sees my mistakes and corrects me sometimes. He's very intuitive. My only complaint is that I outgrew these DVD's rather quickly and I'm looking for something more challenging.

I LOVE this set!,

I am new to yoga and was hoping to start with a DVD set rather than one DVD because I tend to get bored very quickly with workout videos. This set is perfect. I have done each one and love how gently the instructor walks you through each series of exercises. He takes care to remind you about breathing, when each exhilation and inhalation should be occurring with each part of the exercise. He also makes note of why each exercise is beneficial to the body and mind. At the end of each video, he takes you through a meditation to relax and silence the mind after the body has been exercised thoroughly. I think I'm on the right track with yoga and this series helped me get there!
