I HATE IT!!!,
By HardRocker (My House, USA) - See all my reviews

Boston's first 2 cds rocked! They were so awesome, they had awesome vocals, awesome drummer, awesome everything. But now they hire new people and change their style and it doesn't sound good at all! If you want a real good Boston cd then buy " Don't Look Back." That is their greatest cd. I am a huge Boston fan but I hate this new stuff. I am a fan of the old and better sound of Boston. If you wanna see a good review about Boston, then click on " Don't Look Back." I will have a review there.

When you expect something close to the the first three records, you initially say to yourself this cd sounds like Jefferson Airplane's song "We built this city bla bla crap". I also hear remnants of Queen chorus lines, etc. But after a couple of listenings, Boston can be heard in there somewhere. So its a hit and miss. Some songs are good and some are bad, but I agree with another critic who said there is alot of crap out there, this is above the heap of crap. This cd is light listening for the summer time. If your a Boston fan, skip the political messages and try to just enjoy.

Bottom of Boston....but still OK,

Let's get it out in the open. I don't care what Tom Scholtz thinks about social issues. He is a musician and his opinion matters about as much as my cat's. This is about music. That being said, this is definately the worst in the heiarchy of Boston albums, but still a decent effort when compared with the garbage passing for Rock n Roll these days. This is not like the Boston albums of old, where you could pop it in and enjoy every song. This is more hit and miss. I enjoyed "You Gave Up on Love" and "I Had a Good Time". These are the two strongest tracks and fans of the traditional Boston sound will enjoy the driving tempos, screaming harmonies and heavy guitar. "With You" is a departure from the Boston power balad, but never the less is a great ballad with some power elements. The rest of the album is unremarkable. The title track is a political statement, but is one of the few Boston songs that musically you can actually say is truly "bad". Other tracks have fleeting similarities with the Boston we know, but most sound tired and flat. They don't have the depth and power we are accustomed too. Guys: Forget politics...we don't care. We want the music!

Superb songwriting sense made Boston something special. This time the charm is not to be seen.I have been Boston fan for many years.New Boston crews didn't catch my ears in fact. But the band's identity keeps advancing.Considering Tom's age, this CD is somewhat behind the times,I suppose.I am looking foward to the next CD.I want more boogie, wild sounds! Back to the basic ,Tom.

This is the worst music I have ever heard. The band use to be great, The first two albums were alsome, third stage was good, walk on was ok, this one is pure crap. Don`t waste your money on this band, they have forgot what rock is about.

I gave it 5 stars on the general scale of measure for all music, but don't think its the best work done by Boston by any measure. Still, I love Boston and this album *is* Boston! If you want to listen to some good Boston music, get this album. If you want to argue about Tom's drum synths, get the album, post a bad review, and don't let anyone see you rockin to Corporate America. I've listened to the album several times now, and I wanna do it again. Thankfully I listened to the album before reading the reviews here.

The name will never die!,

Boston was great in the 70's, and I'm glad Tom is still at it with the boys. This is wonderful album, which completely deserves to have the name Boston printed on the CD cover. The classic Boston sounds are still there, with new additions that bring it all together. The name Boston will never die in the hearts of the true fans who aren't too stubborn and negative about anything new from good 'ol Boston

Quoted directly from Boston com 4/4/2004"Scholz is remixing Corporate America songs for rerelease this spring." What's Next: Tom Scholz When the band Boston released its self-named debut album in 1976, the gargantuan hit "More Than a Feeling" gave local-hero status to guitarist and songwriter Tom Scholz -- and earned the band an almost cultlike following among classic-rock fans. But the band's last album, Corporate America, in 2002, got only a tepid response. These days, sequestered in the basement studio of his house outside Boston (the city, not the band), Scholz is remixing Corporate America songs for rerelease this spring. He's also keeping busy raising money for social causes (such as the homeless and animal rights), working on inventions (such as a back brace and high-powered ice skates), and flying as a recreational pilot. Scholz values his mixed interests but admits there is a drawback: "You have to steal from one to do another.... It really slows down the music."
