4.0 out of 5 stars Of course it's good....and of course: she's CANADIAN :P
This CD is AWESOME. Chantal Kreviazuk isn't that big, and underrated but she does have really good muzik. i woulda gave it a 5 but i just REALLY dont like "Ready for your love" anyways, here's my review for each song:

1. IN THIS LIFE - 4.5/5 - this was the first single off of the album, it's an excellent song, but she sounds a bit off in some parts, but i...

This CD is AWESOME. Chantal Kreviazuk isn't that big, and underrated but she does have really good muzik. i woulda gave it a 5 but i just REALLY dont like "Ready for your love" anyways, here's my review for each song:

1. IN THIS LIFE - 4.5/5 - this was the first single off of the album, it's an excellent song, but she sounds a bit off in some parts, but i don't really care. also it's a bit overplayed.

2. TIME - 5/5 - The second single, one of my favorite songz on the album, it just prettyful.

3. WHAT IF IT ALL MEANS SOMETHING - 10/5 - my FAVORITE song on this, or any other chantal album. its just SO good!! i think it should be a single but it's not which is also good cuz i'd probably get tired of it. it's just SO good, words can't describe it. Definately one you halfta check out.

4. JULIA - 4/5 - 3rd single, pretty good. I dunno if it's supposta be, but i find it funny. It reminds me of her 'Under These Rocks and Stones' C.D.

5. FLYING HOME (BRENDA'S SONG) - 4.5/5 - This is also a pretty good song. It's kinda sad. Chantal wrote about it when her cousin died and she was going home to the funeral.

6. WEIGHT OF THE WORLD - 3/5 - This song is o.k, sometimes i skip it. It's a chick flick song. Not bad, but there is better. Basically just a filler.

7. WAITING - 4/5 - This song's pretty good. It reminds me of something on 'Colour Moving and Still'. Nice soft/mellow song.

8. READY FOR YOUR LOVE - 0/5 - If it wasn't this song, the cd probably got a 5 stars. i REALLY am disappointed on this song cuz it sounded like it could be a sweet song, but boi wuz i wrong. it's too poppy. I might have liked it better if Mandy Moore did it, it sounds a bit like it could be off of her self-titled cd. definatly NOT a Chantal song...

9. MORNING LIGHT - 5/5 - This is also a nice song. Piano ballad basically. Mellow, also could have fit nice on CMAS. (another of my favourites ^_^;;)

10. MISS APRIL - 4/5 - Also pretty good song. Reminds me of Track 4 a bit.

11. TURN THE PAGE - 3.5/5 - Also, a CMAS-like song. Its a good closing track. Good piano. it reminds me a bit of the song "Eve". I like the chorus.

So all in all this is a highly recommended cd. (excluding track 8) i don't know what the bonus track is cuz when i bought it i didn't have it. And of course, she's canadian. Just like alot of other successful singers out there. also check out her husband's band "Our Lady Peace" they're one of my favorite groups. Check out her other 2 cds too, they're pretty good.

In some person's review they said that Chantal Kreviazuk could use some songwriting lessons from her husband. What that person didn't realize was that Raine Maida (her husband) collaborated in composing many of the songs on "What If It all Means Something", and Raine Maida has been getting quite a bit of criticism of late for becoming too mainstream with Our Lady Peace's latest effort "Gravity". Sure Raine Maida might seem to be faring better musically, but the truth is they are both converging into a more mainstream market. "Under These Rocks and Stones" and "Colour, Moving, and Still" were brilliant, whereas "What If It All Means Something" is definitely not as good.
Just to add, Chantal Kreviazuk is not better than Avril Lavigne. If you listened to Chantal's debut and sophomore records you would realize that.

Chantal's first two CD's made her my favorite artist. This one is a bit of a disappointment. Three of the songs she's already released are fantastic and of the quality of the songs on her first two CDs. I don't find the others feel very inspired or tuneful.

(Chantal, if you read this, I still think you're AMAZING though).

If you like the radio-friendly pop songs of
Chantal's...this is a good cd for you -
"In This Life", 'Time", 'Julia", and "Mrs April"
are good songs.
Otherwise...if you don't care for the music on
this cd, check out Chantal's other two albums.

Living in the UK, I have never heard of Chantel before. It wasn't until I bought Avril's latest album 'Under my skin' that the name Chantel so and so (lol) came up as she had helped Avril write many of the tracks on the album. And although I don't think she is as good as Avril, I think she has a great voice and would do well in the UK with this musix. U GO GIRL!

3.0 out of 5 stars it's all right, Jun 8 2004

This is the first album of Chantal's that I really listened to. I was pretty happy with it for the first few songs, but it all ended up sounding too same-y towards the end. Her vocal delivery was very strong for those first few songs, too, but towards the end it started sounding affected and not genuine. I don't know if she tries to sound like Bjork, but she would probably sound better here if she stopped twisting her voice around so much because she sounds too coy for her own good.

Overall, this album is fairly easy listening. Most of it is pleasant, and a small amount of it is better than that.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm impressed., May 15 2004

I first heard "Feels Like Home" on "How To Lose A Guy" and really liked the sound of her voice and music. So I decided to check into her other songs. I listened to a few snippets online here and decided to be cautiously optimistic and buy the CD (I've been burned before by thinking a CD would be good and it totally sucked. Or I was expecting that I would only like a few songs on the CD.)

I love every song on this CD. I'm really impressed because I tend to be kind of picky about my music. This is a great CD. I definitely recommend buying it if you have heard any ONE of the songs on this CD and liked it.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love it, Mar 18 2004

I've been a fan of Chantal for a long time now and as soon as I heard she was releasing a new album, I was counting down the days for its release. Of course, the album didn't surprise me, it was brilliant as always.

01 In This Life - the first single, a beautiful song filled with heavy piano. 4/5

02 Time - this was my favourite song as soon as I got the CD (it has changed), but it still remains excellent. 5/5

03 What If It All Means Something - at first listen I wasn't feeling this song like most of Chantal's songs but after the second listen I was wondering where my mind was. 5/5

04 Julia - about a girl in the music industry, I love the sound and lyrics. 5/5

05 Flying Home (Brenda's Song) - before WIIAMS's release, I saw Chantal live and she played this song. I fell in love so when I heard it on the CD...I almost died. 5/5

06 Weight Of The World - a lot more poppy but still heavy on the piano. I used to skip this song because it was too popish but now I am in love with it. 5/5

07 Waiting - my favourite song on the album. The chorus is brilliant. 6/5

08 Ready For Your Love - at first (again), I didn't like this song. I thought it was too cheesy and lovey dovey. Once I got to know it, I embraced it. 4/5

09 Morning Light - a nice ballad, not the best Chantal song. 4/5

10 Miss April - another one of my favourites. Faster paced and lyrically brilliant. 5/5

11 Turn The Page - I still don't know what to think of this song. I don't normally listen to it. The most disappointing song on the album. 3/5

In all, I love Chantal and I'm anxious for her next release. Be sure to get 'Under These Rocks And Stones' and 'Colour, Moving and Still' as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing! As Always, Jan 4 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: What If It All Means Something (Audio CD)
I first became enthralled with Chantal Kreviazuk through a friend, I first heard the song "Surrounded" and was simply amazed by how beautiful and touching it was. A couple of months later I was shopping at a CD store down town and found an import version of Colour Moving and Still, and was even more amazed then by her debut. It was because of this CD I decided to catch some of the promo shows she was doing for CMS for its stateside release. I had been waiting for the release of "what if it all means something" for what seemed like an eternity, and was not let down. The first track is simply amazing, i was hooked the first time i heard the 30 second loop at her website. The rest of the CD is equally unbelievable. Of course there are one or two tracks that I dont particularly care for, but the rest of the album is so solid that I can forget about them. I think morning light is one of Chantals best songs ever. Her vocals are simply amazing. This CD is at a great price...SO give it a try..youll beblad you did!
