5.0 out of 5 stars Due South: Season 2
The first set received had two Disc 2's in it and a Disc 3. There was no Disc 1. Contacted the supplier via email and the entire product was replaced within days. Excellent service from an excellent company. Thank you kindly.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Set!, July 18 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Due South: Season 2 (3 Discs) (DVD)
Season 2 had some great episodes, and since they're not being broadcast anywhere at the moment, this is the only place to see them. And even if they were still being broadcast, it's a real pleasure to watch the episodes without commercial interruptions. As mentioned by others, the packaging, and the lack of special features is something of a letdown, but overall it's a great buy. For me, just having a digital copy of the All the Queen's Horses episode was worth the price.

Amazon.com's pricing has me baffled, though. I think someone misunderstood how to apply the exchange rate, and multiplied the Canadian price by it rather than dividing. As a result, the price from amazon.ca, adjusted to US dollars, is about half of what amazon.com is asking. Order it from Canada -- the amazon.ca site will know who you are when you log in.

4.0 out of 5 stars Due South Season 2, Sep 15 2003
By

This review is from: Due South: Season 2 (3 Discs) (DVD)
I was very glad to see the first two seasons of Due South finally available on DVD. It's about time!

However, I am slightly disappointed in the sets so far. This set would have gotten 5 stars except for two reasons: there are absolutely NO extra or bonus features on the set, and the design of the case leaves a lot of room for improvement. The set comes with two double-sided discs, and a third single-sided disc with two episodes (18 episodes total).

This set, as well as the first, contains only the episodes. There are no extra goodies, other than the option of either French or English subtitles, and French-language dubbing. It's a bare-bones set as far as that goes. For the price, they could have done better. However, I'll admit that the picture and sound quality is beautiful.

The DVD case is also a bit problematic. The case design requires that two of the discs overlap on the right side of the case. It's difficult to get the discs out, and I am not the only person worried about breaking or scratching the discs in the process. I wish that Alliance Atlantis had gone with individual cases for the discs (as the Stargate SG-1 sets have).

Overall, I like the sets a lot, and I sincerely hope that the future sets have something added in the way of bonus features.

5.0 out of 5 stars Due South Second Season, Oct 14 2004

This is a great DVD set. I had some trouble on a couple of Season One episodes with poor visual quality and breaking up of the on-screen image but, glad to say, Season Two is entirely trouble-free. Maybe better protection for the discs in the packaging would help? What a great, feel-good series this is. 5 stars without hesitation.

1.0 out of 5 stars DUE SOUTH - EXCELLENT TV SHOW - POOR DVD!!!, Oct 17 2004
This review is from: Due South: Season 2 (3 Discs) (DVD)
I am since the very beginning of this TV SHOW a big fan. In the past I bought in United Kingdom all first & second seasons episodes (including the pilot) on VHS PAL tapes. Okay!

When Due South was released on DVD, I jumped on this offer because I wanted so much to see it in crystal clear picture quality with an oustanding sound (the soundtrack including musics is wonderful).

I do not know how they did this disaster but the distributors produced a "so worst" DVD compression solution that you can see big visual artifacts on all episodes. I do accept that I watch my DVD on a 50" LCD TV Set which displays more technical issue than a small TV Set, but I get perfect picture display with the Avengers 1965 episodes! Not really funny...

This is my most disappointing purchase from Amazon (.com, .ca, .fr, .co.uk). A so bad picture quality that I can get better picture quality playing the VHS tapes! Can you believe that! Shame on such greedy distributors that do not care of people who plainly love this outstanding TV Show.

I nevertheless bought the third season on DVD. As I never bought it on VHS Tape, I shall not be able to compare the disaster and will be certainly less deceived. Last but not the least: the pilot is published on this last DVD set! I am not sure that such distributors watched this TV Show one time in their life... (grin :-)))

Best regards.

4.0 out of 5 stars Strange numbering, but great season!, May 27 2011

For some strange reason, the numbering for Season 2 doesn't start at episode 1, as you'd expect, but rather number 23. The close captioning, like Season 1, drops a few words here and there or interchanges them, but is otherwise well. Sadly, for the second season in a row, there is absolutely no bonus material in this set. Nevertheless, I highly recommend it for any Due South fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my top 5 favorite shows of all time!, April 18 2004

I purchased this item through Amazon.com Canada I belive I paid a bit less than Amazon.com US price. Check it out and do the math.
I Loved the show! David Marciano and Paul Gross were the perfect teaming for a show like this. I probably will not be buying seasons 3 and 4 (Ray #2 --Stanley Kawalski got on my last nerve). I too was unimpressed with the packaging and extras, but do not expect a new due south package set with the pilot included anytime soon. There are some Due south fan pages that can tell you why the pilot was excluded (different production company, I think)and also give you the skinny on future dvd releases. I have to give this dvd set 5 stars because it is one of my favorite shows of all time. (at least the first 2 seasons were) I give packaging and extras a total of two stars. Two for packaging and 0 for extras (none)

5.0 out of 5 stars Take advantage at this lost treasure, Sep 6 2003
By
This review is from: Due South: Season 2 (3 Discs) (DVD)
I'd like to take this opportunity to talk about Due South. This is a wonderful show that has not gotten the respect that it deserves here in the States. I am happy that both seasons 1 and 2 are available so that TV lovers can experience the fun that was Due South. In my opinion, Due South was one of the best things that ever came out in the nineties. It may look like just a typical cop show, but once you watch this Mountie-based show, you will be hooked, as I am and still is. By all means, take advantage of this lost treasure.

4.0 out of 5 stars Relief, Feb 8 2004

Waited a long time for this. At last available. Big fan of the show. I cannot wait to purchase season three. Heard they lose Ray then. I don't like the Alliance Atlantis packaging but when your addicted you'll take the DVD in whatever form it comes.

Also big fan of several other shows by Atlantis Alliance that are under advertised for the quality they represent. The best of these by far is"Traders Season One" for that show is on DVD but given the lack of advertising for that release, I can't imagine it selling well so I'm stuck on a Cliff hanger. Damn.
