i have rarely bought a CD on which all tracks are a pleasure to listen to... popped this one in and OMG what bliss..
if you havent heard this one... youve missed out

Astonishing, breathtaking music I could not stop listen to....
It must be the next generation of tango. If you like tango and you are young in your hart- you will love it!

I think it is one of the three records that redifine the concept of electrotango, like Bajo Fondo Tango Club and Tanghetto- Emigrante (electrotango). Santa Maria is a hit, Queremos paz is a great song, and all the songs in this record are incredible.

By now you probably know that the Gotan Project is a fusion of electronica and tango ("gotan" is "tango" rearranged). I have no exposure to tango music, nor was I specifically looking for such. Instead, I was in search of downtempo, lounge-type music and accidentally stumbled across La Revancha del Tango. What a CD! I love all 10 tracks. There's a fair amount of bass beats, but the tempo is mostly slow (I assume this is tango). Not many vocals are found (but are in Spanish) and there's some vocal samples which I can't identify...but it doesn't matter; it's the sound and the mood which are entirely sexy and addictive. I listen to this CD all the time now.

One surprise is the cover of Frank Zappa's "Chunga's Revenge." Yes, it's Zappa and somehow it works!

The bonus disc has some remixes that are a bit too fast for my current interest in downtempo music and not as good as the originals on disc 1, IMO. However, the video for "Santa Maria" on the bonus disc is really great. It's very sexy and stylish, just like GP's music. Shot in B&W w/ an obvious lean towards cubism and patterns, it puts a smile on your face.

I first heard "Vuevo al sur" on my Musicmatch radio station and after hearing "Triptico" I knew I had to buy the CD. I really enjoy the CD and it's great background/party music. Not all of the songs are as hypnotic as my 4 favorites (the above two, Santa Maria, and Chunga's Revenge), but the video on the extra disc makes it worth 5 stars!

Also, a note for the music fan from Lemon Cove, CA: "tango" is actually described as a Latin American genre and the word has numerous meanings. We are most familiar with the international definition of the tango, which would be Argentinean. There is, however, a "tango" tradition in Brazil, such as the 'tango brasileiro' (check out Darius Milhaud's pieces based on Brazilian music). The Brazilian tango is based on the Cuban habanera, but nonetheless carries the title of "tango".

So, according to your logic (as so eloquently stated in your review), the Russians may actually have their own style of caipirinha. Probably made with vodka (blech!).

This CD is GREAT!!!! I love the electronica tango yet smooth ambient sound of this French music. I simply love it. I hope Gotan Project makes more CDs like this one!!!!

Since i got this CD for xmas, I've been playing it almost everyday at work. Every track stirs something inside that makes me want to dance a sexy dance of Tango.

Hands down the sexiest album I own and have ever heard. The first time I listened to it was at the house of the girl I had just started dating and I couldn't carry on a conversation with her because I kept stopping to just listen. It got better with ever track. She kept talking, I kept zoning out. And I liked the girl!

I had heard Gotan Project previously sampled on NPR and I thought it might be an interesting cd to purchase, but I never thought it would be this good! I love it. I really like ambient and low-key music right now, and this really fits my mood. It is not so upbeat that it makes you nervous and overly excited, but it is great to just chill out to, and is also great background music because tango is inherantly sexy. Each song on this cd has its own taste and flare, and honestly I don't think I can even pull a favorite from this album because they are all favorites! The bonus disc has the video for Santa Maria, which is really cool and sexy! This album is a must have for any music listener!
