this is the fourth and final installment in the "Jaws" franchise.this
movie is not as bad as the third one.in fact it is much better.the only
problem with this movie is its wafer thin premise.you really have to
suspend your belief for this one.not that you didn't need to for the
third one,but this one takes it to another level entirely.if you can
get around that, you might enjoy this movie.it goes back to the roots of
the first two and utilizes what worked the first time.there's more
action in this one,not really a lot of suspense to speak of though.there
is however, some humour,in the form of Michael Caine as Hoagie/an island
pilot, among other things.Mario Van Peebles also provides some laughs as
Jake,a graduate student working in the field of marine life study.this
movie does have its slow spots, but it manges to pickup before becoming
too tedious.overall,i'd have to give "Jaws:The Revenge" 3/5

Even though it received negative reviews, I admit the original and part 2 are the best in the series, "Jaws 4" still has it's moments. The opening of the movie when younger brother Sean is attacked and killed as his screams are drowned out by Christmas carol singers is pretty chilling, as well as the chase scene underwater between Michael and the shark and my fav. the banana boat attack. The shark that killed Sean was not a great white shark but a mammoth shark as stated on the back of the dvd summary.

Many critics thought it was the same shark traveling from Massachusetts, to the Bahamas to get the rest of the Brody family that is not the case.

Several different versions of the film exist as well as different endings and this dvd is the worst version and has the worst ending. The sharks head explodes with no apparent cause, footage from the first film of the dead shark sinking (lame),obvious miniatures and models and the unrealistic survival of Jake.

4.0 out of 5 stars I honestly enjoyed this movie!!! Micheal Caine... go figure!, July 20 2006
Ce commentaire est de: Jaws: The Revenge (Widescreen) (DVD)
Some other reviewer almost stopped me from renting this movie when he said "at the end the shark jumps out of the water, roars like a lion and is stabbed with the front of the ship and blows up!" HELLO! THey planted a bomb on him before that, and the roaring was obviously for dramatic effect! (Although this movie wasn't exactly dramatic.) And sharks can jump out of the water, it's a scientific fact!

The story goes that Michael (THEE Michael, the teen, from the original movie) is killed by what they think is a flesh eating shark. (Ugh... kinda obvious!) So, Ellen and their friends go to the Bahamas to calm down and have some fun, when Micheal and his friend (He's sorta annyoing after a while...) discover a thirty foot shark! The rest of the story is for you to see.

Honestly, a lot of people write bad reviewers and I'll admit, it isn't a classic like the original, but come on! It's a fun shark movie! And, no matter what people say, this shark looks scarier to me than the originals. This movie is pretty fun and I'll always enjoy it, no matter what anyone says about this film.

Four stars, and the star is taken away for that "I-Know-When-Shark-Near" thingy. It was distracting and took away from the movie. Oh, well.

1.0 out of 5 stars Best Michael Caine comment, July 1 2004
By A Customer

Cheesy schlock that, like the other sequels, buys into the horror cliches that Spielberg so brilliantly subverted for the first movie (does not the scene in the origninal Jaws where a child and a dog get eaten by the monster in broad daylight at a crowded beach right in front of the hero break every horror movie rule?).

However, it did produce one great moment. When asked by an interviewer about this movie, Michael Caine said, "I have not seen the film, but I hear it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it paid for, and it is superb."

1.0 out of 5 stars Please do not buy this movie, Jun 20 2004
Ce commentaire est de: Jaws: The Revenge (Widescreen) (DVD)
Let me start off by saying sorrying if my spelling is incorrect and oh yah this is the most terrible jaws movie I have ever seen and it is a disgrace to the first movie and how dare the women who played Brodys wife could ever sign a contract wanting to be in this movie. Second of all throughout the whole movie the shark is "supposibly" trying to track down the Brody family and trying to eat every one of them like it did to one of Brodys sons in the first scence of the movie. And throughout the whole movie Brodys wife some how has some sort of psychic ability to know if the shark is close or something bad is happening that has to do with the shark its a know doubt one 100% quality corny movie. And another thing when they are killing the shark the shark is making loud moaning noises which really goes to how how much the director knows (hey a little hint sharks don't have voice boxes so they cant make any type of noise what so ever). The movie is terrible so please I beg the people who read this review please and i mean please dont buy this movie it is a huge disapointment to all you shark movie fans because I am a shark movie fan myself but in final words don't by the movie

3.0 out of 5 stars Better than 3 but still not very good., Jun 2 2004

At least now we get back to the basics in this one. The 3rd film was terrible, as it went away from the sea and brought the killer shark into Sea world. THIS film, is the real sequel which concludes to the second and first, but it still isn't great. Lorraine Gary reprises her role as Ellen Brody, also Michael Brody (the kid from 1 and 2) comes back, along with his brother Sean (you might remeber Sean as being a cute little boy in the first film), well if you liked him in the first one you will be dissapointed 'cause he hardly lasts ten minutes in this one, although it is quite a thrilling scene. What was stupid about this film was that the rest of the family go to the bahamas 'cause Michael has a job there, but for some reason, the shark can somehow know where they're going and follows them there. I'm no expert on sharks, but I know they can't swim in warm water. Also, how can a shark have feelings. It heads there so he can kill the whole family. What I liked about this film was Michael Caine's performance, he shone some light into the movie. I didn't like the look of the shark (they usually look bad in all of the films, but this one looked horrible). I liked the cast, they seemed like they enjoyed doing this film, that little girl's quite cute too. What I hated was Ellen's flashbacks, she has flashbacks in this about Sean being eaten by the shark and Roy Schieder killing the shark from the first film... but how can you have a flashback of something when you didn't even see it? I liked a couple of shark scenes, I thought the chase in the sunken ship was quite tense. I didn't like the ending though. Like from the third film, the shark roars. Why? And it dies by getting the mast of the boat stabbed through it's body. Very sad.
So, good and bad points there, all I can say is, you'll love it or you'll hate it.
