3.0 out of 5 stars Short on actors, eh?
The season starts off on the wrong foot as they cast the same actress who plays Inspector Thatcher as some random singer/reporter in the first episode of this season. Three episodes later, she's back in her proper role, as the Inspector...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great subtle humour, Oct 6 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: Due South: the Final Season (DVD)
The whole series is excellent with it's quirky characters & great Canadian jokes. So subtle, so hilarious in parts while still having compelling plots.

PS.. I wish people with "general" issues regarding shipping would NOT comment on that in a review of a particular DVD!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Benton Fraser, Aug 21 2007

It would be nice if the reviewer knew the name of the main character, which is actually BENTON not Brenton Fraser.

As to the series, hilarious. There are few things funnier than Benton's tracking abilities, which nearly always involve licking something to pick up the trail. Benton embodies every Canadian stereotype and forms a sharp and humorous contrast against the no-nonsense attitude of Chicago's own Ray Vecchio.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sexy Paul Gross & his cute little wolf. Woof!!, Jun 28 2011

Smart, funny, great scenery (the land & Paul). They cancelled this show repeatedly, moved it all over the place, but they couldn't kill it: it was just too darned good. (Get 'Gunless' too. Paul's cowboy/gunfighter character keeps talking to his horse like Paul' Mountie talked to his wolf. Adorable.)

4.0 out of 5 stars due south season 4, Dec 28 2010
This review is from: Due South: the Final Season (DVD)
Season 3 was a bit boring but I decided to get the final season and it was excellent. Very funny, however if you are not Canadian I am not sure you would pick up some of the jokes.
Overall well done and I am really glad I got it!

The season starts off on the wrong foot as they cast the same actress who plays Inspector Thatcher as some random singer/reporter in the first episode of this season. Three episodes later, she's back in her proper role, as the Inspector...
Diefenbaker has also had a complete personality makeover with the new dog, at least for the first episode or two. Suddenly, he's got a lot of sympathy for random northern animals? He feels a kinship to beavers!?

(SPOILER)As for the "new" Ray's undercover persona... How the heck did his PARENTS not only learn that he was undercover but where he was stationed!? Or say, that it wasn't Raymond Vecchio who arrested the woman on death row?(/SPOILER)

Rediculous. In fact, the whole "the new Ray is undercover to protect the old Ray's cover" appears to be ignored for the majority of this season. The back of the case even states that Benton's parter is "Police Detective Stanley Raymond Kawalski" with no mention of hims replacing the "old/original Ray"... Then again, it does spoil a revelation at the end of the series... with the wrong name quoted there as well.

This season also sports the only bonus feature in the four sets (unless you count the two-hour pilot being included in the third season), but it's nothing impressive.

Nevertheless, except for the naming confusion and what was listed above, still true to the show. A show I miss dearly, despite the fact that I now own all the episodes.

If you are an international customer and you choose Standard International Shipping for your purchases in order to minimise cost and avoid additional taxes and duties at the country of destination, beware ordering from Amazon Canada. They have been known to disregard shipping instructions and send items by Priority International Courier even if you haven't selected that method, which in some countries leads to the imposition of additional taxes and duties on the arrival of the package.
