5.0 out of 5 stars Queen Rocks
THIS is the greatest live band in the world, performing at their peak. Who can match the energy level of Freddie? The voice, the versatility and the musicianship? Queen reigns supreme here. The DVD quality is excellent. Even the interviews are really interesting. If you're a Queen fan, this is a must have (you probably already have it). If you're not yet a Queen...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great!
The concert Queen did at Wembley in 1986 during the "Magic Tour", just after the release of the album "A Kind Of Magic" in the same years, marks one of their greatest moments ever. (Nothing would top them at the "Live Aid" in 1985 though)

It's too bad that so many great songs like "Tear It Up", " Brighton Rock",...

If you're not yet a Queen fan - watch this performance once or twice - and join the ranks. It's amazing to watch the interaction between Queen and the audience - this is a how to lesson in the art of putting on a great concert. As Freddie sang "it's better to burn out than to fade away..." and you can really see him smoking here. Just a shame that we can't still see him live. Wherever you are up there Freddie - thanks for the great gift!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the DVD not the VHS - THE FULL CONCERT, Jun 25 2003
By
This review is from: Queen - Live At Wembley '86 (2DVD) (DVD)
Some people here are making the review of the VHS Live at Wembley'86, but this is the DVD and for the first time in the history of Queen we have the FULL CONCERT, and what a venue. Make no mistake this is the BEST LIVE BAND EVER, if you see this concert YOU WILL NEVER BE THE SAME make sure of that, for those who never saw a concert of Queen buy this DVD. See without prejudice and the way you see live music will change forever, this concert represent all essence of music 4 people rocking out and a crowd standing at their feet, indeed FANTASTIC.The crowd simply know all the words of the songs, and freddie mercury is the best frontman that ever was, and that ever will be. COME ON YOU PEOPLE if you like music you will never have your DVD's collection complete if you don't buy one of the BEST LIVE PERFOMANCE that ever exist. In EUROPE,SOUTH AMERICA ,JAPAN indeed the whole world this DVD is a topseller, i don't understand why people in America don't like Queen, I guess is like football (soccer for the American's)if you pay attencion for only 1 hour to that your passion for that will grow and grow till you became a fanatic belive me, hearing the crownd sing at the same time that freddie mercury BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY makes you understand what Queen represente for that whole audience.
The amazon.com information of the DVD is very poor so here it is the amazon.co.uk information

On the DVD: Queen Live at Wembley Stadium is a superb memento of this memorable night. Disc 1 contains the entire Saturday gig (almost two hours) remastered in vivid DTS 5.1 or PCM Stereo. The second disc collects both contemporary and brand-new material, including new interviews with Brian May and Roger Taylor. "A Beautiful Day" is a good documentary made at the time. More exciting is the wealth of unseen footage, both from the Friday night show and the band in rehearsal. There are "Queen Cam" views of each band member, and a photo gallery. Most poignant is a time-lapse short, "Wembley Towers", showing the philistine destruction of these national monuments. It's a fitting epitaph for this great live band

5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest Show on Earth, Jan 2 2010
This review is from: Queen - Live At Wembley '86 (2DVD) (DVD)
Freddie was already ill when they did Wembley in '86. At Montreal in '81 he boldly hit all his high notes but the crowd was dead. The Montreal crowd got a great show but song selection at Montreal does not compare to Wembley where you get the greatest hits. The main difference is the crowd participation. Sure, he is playing to the "home crowd" at Wembley and by '86 Freddie and the band were revered. The Montreal crowd seemed shocked or stoned - or maybe both. The video recording quality at Montreal was also sub-standard but the band sound is fine. It is possible that the fans made some noise but sound technicians did not let us hear it and Freddie has some [choice} words of encouragement for them! I just bought my 4th copy. Have twice bought the CD (wore one out) and this is second DVD as grandaughter stole the first. They still have the power after all these years. The bonus with the Montreal dvd is the Live Aid footage - which is spectacular.

You want real rock and roll?...in your room?...like you have never ever ever seen or heard before? This is the ultimate statement of a live rock concert...it captures you...it holds you...it thrills you...there is nothing out there that can compare to this performance. Absolutely nothing. I noted that a few reviewers had a few nitpiks..all I can say is they were listening on a ghetto blaster and watching on a 12 inch b&w tv or they are deaf dumb and blind...even at that I would give it five stars...but seriously this is a gem...a must have... great sound in DTS...very good video...but regardless the performance takes you...incredible...God save the Queen...we miss you Freddie.

4.0 out of 5 stars whats with the interviews?, April 23 2004
By
brian (south carolina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Queen - Live At Wembley '86 (2DVD) (DVD)
this wembly show is queen at their finest.
i saw them in kansas city 1984(?) and sat in the back of kemper arena right in the center just above stage height. the best place too get the full sound affect.
i also got the privlidge to sit down with roger john and brian at the crown royal hotel before sound check and chat with them for about an hour drinking whisky sours.
freddy wasnt around as always (according to them).

after that show i was hooked because of the incredible lighting and brian mays guiter genius.
i went out and bought all the albums.
(the old stuff is the best).

this dvd concert shows queen dressed as pro-musicians and not in stupid outfits like on some of the vids theyve done before.
the color selection of white and yellow with red strips clothing perfectly matched their music.

i did not like the interviews they spliced in the middle of the show......all it did was give me an excuse to go to the john.
also i never could figure out......why john deacon just stands there...like hes not part of the band.
i wish he couldve been more buddy buddy and into the music with the rest of the band. (maybe its because he didnt get to write most of the music?)

queen music is magically done of coarse but......is roger taylor really the best drummer in the world?...hardly not.
he just seems to carry the beat.
(but he does have a cool drum solo during the concert).

all in all this show is one of my favs and i will never get bored of it. its one of those concerts you have to watch if youve just got heavy bills to pay or you just wrecked yer car.
this concert will certainly bring you out of depression right from the beginning.
its a very uplifting and musically stimulating show.

they should have left out the song delilah.
(song about freddys cat?).
during the middle of the song Bohemian Rhapsody they all vanish from stage and let the tape play the chorus parts.

great concert!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you buy only one Queen DVD . . ., April 9 2004

This review is from: Queen - Live At Wembley '86 (2DVD) (DVD)
This is a model DVD release for a rock band. No corners seem to have been cut! The concert footage itself is very good, the extras are excellent, and there's a lot of care and attention paid to every last detail of the packaging. This probably isn't the best concert in Queen's history, but it's probably the best filmed Queen concert, and that's more than good enough for me. Everything you loved, or hated, or loved to hate about the band is preserved in exceptional detail. It's almost like being there. I prefer this DVD to other filmed Queen concerts, to be honest. Queen were not only first-rate rockers but also fantastic showmen, and Freddie and Brian's showmanship is nothing but captivating. This is one of my favorite concert DVDs, and is well worth a purchase instead of the collections of Queen lip-synched videos also available on the market.

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic, Mar 10 2004
By
J E Spraggs (London, England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Queen - Live At Wembley '86 (2DVD) (DVD)
Me and my husband saw this concert live at the famous stadium all them years ago. To this day it was the best experience we had. This DVD is the closest we will ever get to what it was like for us again. Walking up Olympic Way to the Wembley Towers always made any one going to the Stadium awe at the history of the now late Wembley.

The sound hear is as clear as it was seeing them live and the extras helped enhance the experience of 18 years ago. Everyone there would talk to each other even though they did not know each other. Then when Queen ran on the famous Wembley roar was as loud then as it is on the DVD. An experiecen I will never forget.

The extras will help make any Wembley or Queen fan feel nostalgic. The Wembley Towers bit was very poignent. An earlier review said it was a waste. Well its not. In UK when the discussion arose about what to do with the towers when the new Wembley is being built caused a much heated debate, sadly they will not see the new Wembley. Its the towers which was the symbol of Wembley. Its under the towers that has seen many sporting moments. So for two patriotic Queens to show their feeligns summed up the whole country's regret that they are not staying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great but Budapest on DVD would be better, Feb 29 2004
By
Random Reviewer (Los Angeles, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Queen - Live At Wembley '86 (2DVD) (DVD)
Great DVD, but the Budapest show (from the same year, and only available on VHS) seems to be more popular among Queen fans. Freddie's voice isn't his best during this performance. Still, any Queen show deserves 5 stars.

IN RESPONSE TO THE PREVIOUS REVIEWER: The "Bohemian Rhapsody" opera segment is slightly ruined on this DVD. It was sort of a tradition for Queen to simply leave the stage during the opera section and play the record, while the audience and lights took care of the rest. (Queen COULDN'T perform the opera section live, and were opposed to playing onstage with backing tapes, so they were honest about it.) Being there, it was actually a very fun part of the show! Unfortunately, the DVD doesn't show the audience or the incredible lighting rigs that moved around the stage during the opera section; instead, it shows clips from the video, which every one has seen already. (The opera section is filmed much better on the Budapest show.)

Like Queen's other DVDs, it's loaded with extras (like being able to watch only one band member during certain songs) and is inexpensive so it's a great value.

The "We Will Rock You" concert DVD was shot a few years before this show, so you may want that if you like more of their late-'70s songs. Both DVDs are great to have since the tracklisting is quite a bit different between the two.
