4.0 out of 5 stars Still great
A great start to a great show. Short on the extras. I'll never understand why they bloopers to Season 1 weren't on Season 1 (I believe they're on Season 3, which was weird to me. Season 2's bloopers were there as well.) Would have been nice for those extras to be on this Season instead.

I have some issues with the packaging, they're these plastic things stuck...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great show, but disapointing DVD
I am a huge fan of W&G, but I was very disapointed in the lack of extras that really should have been added to the DVD. There was an absurdly short interview with the cast and nothing that any second rate fan would already know was revealed. I expected much more from this DVD and I wish I had skipped on ordering it. With the show in syndication it's not tough to...

A great start to a great show. Short on the extras. I'll never understand why they bloopers to Season 1 weren't on Season 1 (I believe they're on Season 3, which was weird to me. Season 2's bloopers were there as well.) Would have been nice for those extras to be on this Season instead.

I have some issues with the packaging, they're these plastic things stuck onto cardboard with those little glue circle things. (not sure what they're called) Some of that sticky stuff doesn't really hold on a few of my Seasons of this series. One of them even fell off, so I had to put it back on... only to be unable to close it because it was positioned wrong when I put it back on. So I had to rip it off and hope it would stick again (it did). The actual cardboard is nice and glossy.

The Episode Index is hard to follow when you first get it, but all the Seasons I have so far (all but 8) do it this way, so you'll get used to reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sitcom!, April 8 2007

I am a Friends' fan, but am now also a Will and Grace's fan! Both shows are great, but Will and Grace is a different look at how you can be friends with people that has different sexual orientation. It's a good eye opener even though everything is done with a good touch of humour. I love this show, I've bought all DVD box sets that came out and will continue to buy all the seasons until the very last one without hesitation! Very affordable box set and quite entertaining! Can't ask for more!

And the characters, oh my god, they are all just so adorable, especially Jack!! Anyone who hasnt bought this dvd yet is seriously missing out on some of the best stuff out there, so I strongly suggest you go buy it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars What will NBC do?, July 6 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Will & Grace: Season One (DVD)
This series is the lifeblood of NBC. Now that friends is over, what will NBC do when will and grace (6th season already folks) leaves...

This DVD contains all season one episodes, and virtually nothing else (2 interviews basically.) But who can complain with a price under $30! I actually prefer DVDs like this. I would much rather have the season, for a low price, that all the extras which average out to be $10 a piece!

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb Television Comedy of the Best Kind, April 24 2004

I am one of those who never saw this sitcom until the past year.... mainly because I detest commercials that constantly break the mood of what I am watching. Thank goodness a friend of mine told me to purchase this set which is the beginning of the series from 1999. This is some of the funniest and most endearing television comedy I have ever seen. I rate this among the best... and to see it without the commercial breaks is fantastic. The packaging on this volume is beautiful, and obviously time was taken to make it attractive and classy... and it shows. The clarity of picture and sound is wonderful. An easy 5 stars... and I can hardly wait for Season 3 to be on the shelves, since I immediately bought Season 2 after buying this one. Its just as marvelous.

4.0 out of 5 stars Where are the bloopers?, April 19 2004
By
This review is from: Will & Grace: Season One (DVD)
This has some hilarious moments. I love the show and never miss an episode, but I was hoping for bloopers. The extras are nothing more than snippets taken from the season strung together. Creative, but I would much rather see the outtakes.

I was kind of late to the Will & Grace game, and this set is a perfect was for me to catch up and fill in. The pilot is almost bizarre because it was before they really found their stride, Karen's voice was a lot lower and what was up with Will's hair?!? Debra Messing's Grace is practically a modern-day Lucille Ball, heavy on the physical comedy and facial expressions.

All of the episodes feature the wacky adventures of Will, Grace, Jack and Karen, who all live and, with the exception of Jack, work in New York City. One of my favorite episodes is the one where Grace is being super competitive about games and she and Will end up alienating another couple. Another is the one when Molly Shannon moves into their building and becomes too friendly with Will for Grace's comfort. Of course Jack steals every scene he is in!! The featurettes (greatest bits with a theme) are hilarious!! This set is great way to relax if you've had a tough day.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let's Touch Stomachs!, April 10 2004
By
"fuzzee77" (Nashville, TN United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Will & Grace: Season One (DVD)
First seasons are probably the most interesting, as you can watch the show try to find its footing and notice subtle changes from episode to episode (note Will's hair after the pilot, or Grace's office).

And what's not to love about Will & Grace?
* There is the original humor with its brilliant gay undertones (my favorite line "let's touch stomachs").
* The unique characters that if taken in isolation would seem a little overdone, but together form a beautiful tapestry of friendship that play off each other's quirks and weaknesses.
* Of course there is the fashion, all the pop culture references, and that warm fuzzy feeling your are left with at the end of an episode knowing you just spend 25 minutes in good company!

I can't wait for the subsequent seasons to be released on DVD and watch the show taken on more substantive issues. But as a first season this is a worthy introduction to a very worthy show!
