The Perfect Ending,
By Shelli (North Carolina) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dawson's Creek : Series Finale (DVD)
This is the series ending two-hour finale of Dawson's Creek, which turns out to be surprisingly good in relation to the declining quality of the program in its last two seasons. It jumps five years into the future, humorously enough bringing the actors who played these teens for so long a little bit closer to their actual ages. We get to see how everybody turned out, where life took them after high school and college. The emphasis on Dawson, of course, is in his Hollywood career, and, of course, he is a big success in the industry. This was always his story, since the first episode of the series, so it was nice to see it come full circle for him. Joey Potter's story, however, always seemed to be with her romantic love life as it related to her childhood insecurities, and she also ends up in a great place. Finally secure with who she is and grown up enough to get what she wants, which turns out, happily enough, to be that charming romantic hero Pacey that made us all swoon (and also made us wonder what was wrong with that girl for so long not to see it). The show may have started about her purely innocent childhood crush on her best friend and neighbor Dawson, but thankfully - in this show that was supposed to be about growing up - they actually let the character grow up and change. There are many diehard Dawson and Joey fans out there who may feel slighted, but the truth of the matter is that more time was devoted to the romance of Pacey and Joey on this show than it ever was with her and Dawson. Season three was completely about them falling in love in a wonderfully romantic way, and almost the entire season four was devoted to their relationship. Even in season six the sparks were temporarily rekindled between Pacey and Joey, and both admitted the other had always been still in the back of their minds somewhere. But Joey expressed a lot of fears and trepidation about getting involved with Pacey again, and all those same fears were adddressed in the finale. What Kevin Williamson's commentary will explain is that, since these characters had grown and experienced so much over the years, a Dawson and Joey ending did not make sense if you looked at the series AS A WHOLE, not just the first two seasons. There were FOUR seasons that followed, and the finale takes those seasons, as well as the Pacey and Joey relationship into consideration, as well it should. Even Williamson and the show's producer Paul Stupin agree in the DVD commentary that the true great romance of the show AS A WHOLE was Pacey and Joey. (And Williamson also carefully explains that the second hour of the show was rewritten for Pacey and Joey to end up together, so Joey's dialogue in their last scene was written for Pacey, not someone else.) It is a very interesting commentary, to see how the creative process works, to see how a writer can let the story naturally take him where it should, rather than where he thought it was supposed to go when he sat down to write it. Williamson seems delighted with how it ended up, as did the actors who played the roles, which is nice to know. In Joey's last words: "PERFECT"

This is it. This is the final episode of one of the greatest TV shows in recent years. The plot of the TB show revolved around 6 friends (Dawson, Joey, Pacey, Jen, Jack, and Andie) and how they loved, laughed, and cried during the teenage years growing up in the small creek-side town of Capeside. The Finale takes place in 2008, Five years since the friends have last met. The gang all comes back for the wedding of Mrs. Lerry, but very soon on they learn that one of there friends has been harboring a heart-breaking secret. This is probablly one of the best series ending episodes I have seen, and although its a little of the Depressing side It is totally Dawson's Creek and totally perfect.

Best Series Finale of Any Show I Have Ever Seen,
By heather (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Dawson's Creek : Series Finale (DVD)
When I saw this episode when it first aired, I was blown away. It was the best 2 hours of television that I have ever seen. It takes place four years in the future, which I thought was a great idea. It let us see our favorite characters in the real world after college, and it was good. Joey's now an editor, Jack's an English teacher, Dawson is the writer and director of his own show The Creek, which was based on the indepedent movie he made during the second season of the show. Jen is a mother to a beautiful baby girl, Amy. It's said that her boyfriend knocked her up and then left her. I would assume that the boyfriend wasn't Jensen Ackle's character, who we last saw her with because he seems like too nice of a guy to do that, but they never really say who it was. The gang is in town for Dawson's mother's wedding, and the first hour has to do with the death of one of the cast, which is very heartbreaking, I cried many times, while the second deals with the love triangle that is Pacey, Joey and Dawson. I loved the finale when it aired in May, but when I heard that there were deleted scenes in the dvd, I had to buy it even though I had the other on tape. It was well worth it, if just for the return of Meredith Monroe as Andie. The best addition was at the very end when they show clips of all of the most important scenes of the last 6 years. It's very touching. I would definitely recommend buying this whether you saw it when it aired, or if you have yet to see it. It is an excellent episode.

Sad,

This review is from: Dawson's Creek : Series Finale (DVD)
I remember watching this show for the first time. It was the pilot. I was hooked up with this show and wanted to know what will happen to all of them the next week. We`ve seen a lot of tears and happyness, a lot of love and friendship. But the finale...well I don`t think that it deserves that name. ou could feel itin the whole finale that there was only one way to end this show...with Dawson and Joey. But ending it with Pacey and Joey well it didn`t make sense. I think that Mr. Williamson should have let the show ended the way he wanted at first with Dawson and Joey or write a new one for Pacey and Joey. But not by using the history of Dawson and Joey and turn it into a history of Pacey and Joey. That was bad writing. I`ve hoped for getting a full circle of the show. I didn`t want a shocking one or realistic one. I`ve hoped on an ending which fitted to the show. And this made Pacey and Joey impossible after that horrible S4. The only thing that I`m happy for is the fact that I`m not a D/J. I would have felt betrayed by the way the writers treated the story of Dawson and Joey after S2.But to be honest. I think that noone will be satisficed with this finale. Even the fans of Pacey and Joey who only got that little kiss at the end which wasn`t really romantic for me. The whole scene at the end was not romantic. Without the kiss I simply kinda got the feeling that 2 friends only watch a movie. There was no chemestry. For me there would have been so many other ways to let this show end. But the WB and the writers did choose the wrong one. Unfortunately.

a confused mess,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dawson's Creek : Series Finale (DVD)
anyone who has watched the show from the beginning should be just as confused as I am. At the end of the finale, two characters are playing Dawson & Joey on "the creek" 'Dawson' says "you and me always" Joey is sitting on the couch and says "Perfect" That scene was a throwback to the last episode from season 1 were Dawson & Joey kiss for the first time and later become boyfriend/girlfriend. So if that ending was perfect why is she with Pacey, and if it were perfect why isn't she with Dawson. Confused.Anyway, Joey tells Jen that she has always known who she is supposed to be with. Well in #602 Joey tells Dawson "More than anything I want for us to be together" She can't just mean friends, cause they already are friends. So why would she tell Dawson that, if she has always known that she is supposed to be with Pacey. Williamson & Stupin said they were very pleased with the Finale. Do you really think they would get on TV and say "Wow, I look at this now, and it really didn't turn out that good, we should have changed this and this. Stupin also said he was happy with the music changes in the Season 2 DVD, and look how that turned out. Not many people like the results. Williamson did create the show, so I guess he should be the one to ruin it, and leave us scratching our heads has to how a show could be so good, and end in such a mess.

Dawson & Joey,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dawson's Creek : Series Finale (DVD)
Well, after watching the show for six years, I can't believe the ending. In one word: horrible. There is no doubt that the first two season where built around Dawson & Joey, and their relationship. Season's 3-6, it was like they were so close to getting back together, but for some reason they never did. It is obvious that throughout, it was Joey running from Dawson, not Pacey. Kevin Williamson wrote two drafts for Dawson & Joey to end up together, and though he doesn't say in the commentary, the WB ordered that Joey & Pacey end up together. If the WB want's the show a certin way, (what to wear, hair style, whom ending up with whom) the writers must do what the WB asks. So for all you Joey & Pacey fans, just remember that it was writtin twice for Dawson & Joey, and only cause of the WB it didn't happen.

Heartbreaking and Fitting to the Series,

This review is from: Dawson's Creek : Series Finale (DVD)
Anyone who has seen the entire series knows that it definately hits home. The music was awesome, and the ending was fitting. I was drawn to Dawson's Creek from episode 1. I used to be a Dawson and Joey fan, but the chemistry that Pacey and Joey have is just illuminating. I was sad that Jen died (I cried), but all good things must come to an end. I have every episode on video tape and hope they realese all of them on DVD. Pacey and Joey Forever!!!!

A sad misstep,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dawson's Creek : Series Finale (DVD)
A show that was to define an entire new genre in its first season goes out on in the exact fashion it sought to lampoon, punctuated by an ending that invalidates the premise that was at the very heart of the show. This transparent attempt to generate revenue from an extended treatment of it's "shocking" ending is neither surprising nor warranted. Best to turn the spigot off here and redirect those hard earned funds toward something that kept its integrity and stayed true to its heart, namely the Felicity DVD's.

Retired Fan,

I am still shaking my head in disbelief over the way this show ended so I am warning any real old school fans of the show to just skip this episode entirely. Nothing about it made any sense. Dawson and Joey, who were in love from the pilot episode until the second to last episode, didn't end up together. It was a complete travesty. Seriously the most unsatisfying conclusion to a television show I have ever witnessed. What kind of crackerjack staff doesn't have the main couple end up together? Are they trying to turn us all into hardened cynics? Again, I ask you to heed my warning and skip this DVD. It is a terrible end to a show that once had a lot of potential.

Waited Six Seasons For This!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Dawson's Creek : Series Finale (DVD)
Well...the kids of Dawson's Creek did grow up without completely growing apart..but this was not the ending I wanted nor expected! I also watched from the beginning and have every episode taped and although I do have all the memories I am very sad and disappointed with the ending. Joey should have ended up with Dawson..no doubt about it! They were soulmates and understood each other better than anybody else did. This was one of the saddest moments for me besides when Mitch got killed in a car accident. I wanted them to be together so bad. I grew up with the show and I still slip my tapes in the VCR and watch them. It's weird for me to sit and watch the first couple of seasons when Joey and Pacey completely hated each other and know that their going to end up together! I would have never guessed that..I always believed that Dawson and Joey were going to fall in love and be together. Even though the show has ended..I still love it and I am a die hard fan and always will be. Even though Joey ended up with Pacey..I can't just hate the show because of one(very important) episode. I have too many memories and good things to say about it to do that! I just wish that it would have ended differently.
