5.0 out of 5 stars A great workout for the moderately fit
I'm almost fifty years old and reasonably fit, and found this tape a very useful addition to my exercise program. The exercises are all explained beautifully, feel challenging and safe, and the variations will easily make the workout more difficult if needed.

I like working out with my shaper ball because it makes exercise seem more like fun and less like punishment. But because I needed more guidance on this new piece of equipment than was provided on the chart that came with it, I turned to Kathy Smith, my fitness guru for guidance. I thought, Kathy has not yet led me astray, and I bought this video without...

4.0 out of 5 stars Good basic balance ball workout!!, Mar 17 2006
By
Jacqueline Roy (Calgary, Alberta Canada) - See all my reviews
I bought this video as I was looking for a basic excercise routine for my balance ball. I found it in this video. Kathy gives excellent basic instruction, and modifications to increase or decrease intensity. I just had a baby and needed to increase my core strength. I found that this is helping and i can do many of these excercises while watching TV or when I have a moment here and there. This is a very practical routine!!

4.0 out of 5 stars all talk, April 21 2004
By A Customer
Ce commentaire est de: Kathy Smith:Shaperball (DVD)
This not only the most basic video ever made but it is all talking. I felt that the instruction is good but she did not keep it moving, you are always stopping and waiting for her to finish talking before the next exercise begins. I hardly had a work out even if I did the video 10 times back to back.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kathy Smith - Timesaver Lift Weights to Lose Weight 2, Feb 19 2004

I really love this workout. It's easy to follow and is presented in 10-20 minute increments that allow you to fit the workout in to a busy schedule. My only complaint is that the DVD cover indicates that there is an "exclusive 20 minute stability ball workout" included when there is not. Unfortunately, I bought 2 stability balls to go with the 2 DVDs I bought (one for me and one for a friend) before I discovered this. I have sent 2 emails to customer service on the Kathy Smith website and have received no reply...very disappointing.

5.0 out of 5 stars After Working All Day, Jan 10 2004
By A Customer
This is a great workout for lower body toning. I do not always feel like exercising after working all day, and when I'm tired I sometimes don't feel as if I have the best control over free-weights. Kathy Smith is an excellent teacher on proper technique. I use this video when I am short on time. It really feels as if I've worked my problem areas; my butt and abs. Working out on the stability ball has really helped my lower back to become stronger. Working out on the ball also relieves stress. This video is not an aerobic or upper body workout, so it needs to be supplemented with other videos and activities for all around fitness. I also bought this video for my friend that is new to the stability ball.

1.0 out of 5 stars pitiful, Nov 20 2003
Ce commentaire est de: Kathy Smith:Shaperball (DVD)
not a good exercise routine, Smith is past her prime and her teaching style is lacking, she needs to step aside and quit producing weak videos like this. The moves were overly talked out and the seemed very boring. Smith was good, was! Leisa Hart is so much better, try her On The Ball Abs video instead.

1.0 out of 5 stars I wanted to like this video....., Mar 11 2003
By A Customer
I would not recommend this video to anyone who wants to work their abdominal muscles. There are only a few very basic exercises that, unless you haven't exercised in 10 years, will not give you results. I am new to the shaper ball but could perform these exercises at the advanced level and still not feel a thing. The only part of the video that was slightly interesting, although just as basic as the abdominal & lower back portions, was the lower body which involved leg lifts & squats.

4.0 out of 5 stars To add fun to your workout try Kathy's Shaper Ball Workout, Aug 21 2002
By
Sheri (Orlando, FL) - See all my reviews
I have quite a few Kathy Smith videos and decided to give the Timesaver Shaper Ball Workout a try. What fun! Kathy knows how to talk you through every exercise move so you don't feel confused. The day after I used the Shaper Ball Workout, my thighs were sore, but in a good way. I'm pretty much a beginner since I'm not consistent with exercise. With this video, I've easily added it into a daily routine. Yeah, even after a long day at work and two teenagers to raise! I recommend this video to anyone who's looking to start an exercise program or just want to add some variety to their existing routine. As Kathy points out in her video, you can make the exercises more difficult just by how you position yourself on the ball and by adding more repetitions.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good start for beginners, July 21 2002
By A Customer
I just recently purchased an exercise ball and have some books demonstrating technique- but I wanted to be able to watch someone actually use the ball rather than just go by still pictures in the books. This was the first video I got, and since I had never set my... well buns on an exercise ball before, I found it to be perfect for me.
Other reviewers have mentioned it's boring or the instructors are too flirty, but I still have to say that this is a great introductory video because it IS easy and the instructors aren't taking themselves too seriously. It's supposed to be fun to keep you motivated, right?
Another reason I chose this video is that I am only 5'0" and so I use a 55cm ball. Other videos I looked at seemed to be using a much larger ball and I wasn't sure if I would be able to do the exercises. When I popped this one into the VCR, I was relived to see that the male instructor, Michael, is a short guy and was using a smaller ball than Kathy- so I knew I wouldn't have any problems.
Once I build up to the higher level workouts shown, I'm sure I'll get bored with this and pass it on to someone else. But for now, at the beginning level, I'm enjoying the workout!

2.0 out of 5 stars not that great, Jun 27 2002
By A Customer
This is not one of my favorite workout videos in the world. It is sort of annoying. She does it with this one other guy who is very muscular and looks like he just got at of high school Kathy and him, whos name is Michael, treat each other like they are high school swwethearts. One thing that I like about it though, is that they show the exercises in three different levels, beginner, intermediate, and advanced. That way you can work at your own pace. I never really feel like I have exercised very much when I use this video, though.
